I show you how to make a Christmas Lights holder to hold Christmas Lights for windows and doors.
We Use 1/2" PVC piping to make the holders and 4 90 degree elbows to make the holders.
It took about 15 minutes to make the holder and less than $10 to make them.
Measure the window and cut the PVC pipe to size then install the 90 degree elbows then put into window.
Next either put Christmas Lights Minis or C9 attached with zip ties.

can you show how you did that connection from the gutter strand to the window a bit closer? you jjst slid that male plug on the cord that was on the gutter without cutting? if so no video needed. thank you!
here is a video how to make the cords
ua-cam.com/video/HUJm4Niaqyk/v-deo.html
I actually figured it out and did it on today. Just snap off the little end tab on the female
@@walterrocha8764 Yup pretty easy
Thank you for videos!
I wish I could see what he's actually doing at the end.
How do you respectfully say this was a bad video? Lol
Is it just me, or are the ornamental shutters on the wrong side of the window??
Good eye lol they are loo
Not gonna lie this is actually a pretty good damn job good job man really impressed
Thanks for watching
Ok my question is how is the light strip cut to length of the window? Do you just splice the lights? Did you change your links?
Just saying... i use white gorilla tape and it works great on vinyl windows. So much easier and stays up all season. (Just some info for other dummies out there like me)
Is ok in the weather snow rain etc
@@lepen4652 yup used it last year and no issues... (I live in new england too)
Really I have been looking for ideas on vinyl. How does the tape look in the day?
How is the pipe frame fixed to the house though? Is it literally just wedged in with friction holding it in place? I want to try this but I live in the UK and we always get storms at some time during December so won't the strong winds blow it off?
Yes, it is wedged in.
I’ve actually done windows before by using 3m tape and very small clips that can be stuck onto the other side of the tape
The window idea with the pvc pipe is good! I bought thin rubber coated bicycle hooks at a discount store, then screwed them under my fascia year round. All I have to do each year is string my lights on those hooks, and they also stay out of the weather. I also screwed small 1/2 inch stainless steel cup hooks into my cedar fence around my entire property, and on my deck, and hang lights and garland from those hooks. Easy breezy, and the hooks don't rust and leave stains on my wood fence.!
You have picture of size and what exactly your hooks look like
Any suggestions for hanging lights in window sills for stucco, and for a permanent finish. Customer doesn't want glue or adhesive tape. I live in South Florida so things are a bit different. Thankyou in advance!
Don't do it
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity may i ask why?
@@Kpeazy10 if you don't want glue or adhesive tape there's no way of keeping them up unless you can do the piping or wood pieces around it
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity Thankyou! Do you recommend any exterior light clips ? Terminology might not be correct. But any help is greatly appreciated.
awwww..... I wanna use those little christmas tree lights and put em' on the inside side of my windows. My girlfriends always do it for me, but I don't have a girlfriend this year
Sorry about your girlfriend. All links in description
i wonder if this would work for the inside ... instead of putting nails in the window walls
Joe DeVitto absolutely would
Thanks ~
That's exactly what I plan on doing. Your like a life saver!!!! I no longer dread putting up the lights every year. I use to get 1 window done a night with my packing tape, taping every single light as straight as I could directly to the window and sometimes even packing tape wouldnt work if it was cold outside and or grease from my fingers...so annoying.
Thanks!
Could I ziptie the lights to the pvc frame (but not the shutter) so it’s reusable year after year? Then Zip tie to the shutter separately. Thoughts? Anyone tried it?
Yes you could
So simple compared to all these glue gun guys. Great job and video. Thank you!
Awesome, since I’m a plumbing contractor I’ll totally be doing this this year, where do you get the electrical hardware ?
Ah you did what? And you say what? And it goes where? I'm so freaking confused. 😬😠😡😕😑
Nice video! Learned some new things I will definitely use next year.
Thanks for watching and commenting. This was definitely easy take down also.
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to build something similar. I'm trying to decide between PVC and wood. Any advantages to either besides the fact that PVC will last much longer?
JJ Martinez PVC easier to cut and put together
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity I went with PVC. It looks great and being able to slide out the pieces a bit to lock it in place is a great advantage!
JJ Martinez awesome
It helps to be 7 feet tall... well I'm not actually 7 feet tall.. lol
arompies 6'6 close enough
There is no sill on my outdoor windows....just a 1/2” aluminum frame *around* the window, on a vinyl sided home.
So I used 2x2 wood strips, with cable straps with a 9/16th screw holding each C7 led Christmas light of a 70 set string, which makes the lights uniform when lit up at night.
Depending on window size, you may have to extend or shorten the light string. There are video’s on UA-cam showing how best to accomplish that.
That’s awesome
It's not that easy with LED lights..... Incandescence fine, but not LED...
Great video, I will try this this year to help make my show look better 👍
Silver it was pretty easy
You could probably do a window in 15-20 each
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity good deal, I have 5 windows that are on separate channels so that will be a life saver, thanks
Would this work if you go around the whole window, shutters included?
You could do that if you want to
*Thanks awesome info*
Thanks for watching
I fucking hate that YT took off the dislike button.
I love seeing Christmas decorations lit up outside. In Scotland our outside window and door sills slope downward, I don’t know how the pvc frame would stay in place, I guess adaptions could be made to hold things in place.
Do you have shutters next to your windows
Christmas Lights No shutters
Get a piece of 3/4 pvc, cut the pipe in half length wise, cut the half pipe pvc into 1 to 2 inch pieces, drill a hole into the pvc pipe, screw to wood facia or hot glue the pvc pieces on, then the 1/2 inch pvc should snap right into the 3/4 inch holder…
Wouldn't work a lot of the houses here, unless you have an older home (prior to 90's).
Are them lites LED
Yes they are
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity Not all LED strings are capable of being cut short are they?
Good concept. Won't work on my windows but this definitely helped thank you
Diff you use the same process to shorten the xmas light chord to make it the right size of window? If so video please
I went to the supply link and it throws me to random sites. I want to know how reliable are these sites. They have much lower prices than the site I browsed.
My new site is ChristmasLights.io
Will these C9 spools from this site fit any brand C9 from another company/website
Marco Lass yes they will
All right!! Thank you so much. My order is on the way.. can't wait to start the show.. you have a good season @chistmas lights
Do you offer expedited shipping?

Jason, thank you so much for everything you do.
Good video 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed
That’s pretty cool thanks I’m thinking about ordering stuff for my house as the Ginee pig house 🤪
Imperial Services thanks for watching and commenting
Imperial Services WTF??
Greenid Guy wtf what finish your question
Imperial Services Ginee pig house? You seriously couldn’t ascertain what I was referring to?? It was your statement after all.
Greenid Guy well I’m guessing you couldn’t figure out that I was just making a statement also. Just so you understand my comment better I’m going to buy some lights and custom make the length to light up my doors windows and my roof. 👍
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!!
Important life lesson at 4:40.
Let me begin by saying great idea, but since you are already making the light strand to whatever length you need, why not just leave an extra 2 feet at the beginning with no lights so you can plug it indirectly to the strand above the gutter. This would eliminate the little "jumper" you had to make and the extra plug/connection. Just a thought.
Cause i dont like leaving bulbs out of the sockets
I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood. I thought you made the light strand. If you did, I would have skipped 2 or 3 sockets and only put the first socket/bulb 3' from the male plug. Best wishes.
@@DayNNyteDJs No problem. Thanks for watching
@DayNNyteDJs I get whatcha sayin ;)
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity on stucco ?
Why not just leave the frames in tact with the lights on so you can bring them out of storage and just put them in their respective window?
The reason I ask is because I have 23 windows between the front and two sides of my house.
Greenid Guy you could absolutely do that if you have the space for them
Wow. That’s great! 😀
You should buy yourself a tool belt sport.
Yes I do use a tool belt
Thanks!
A 4x8 sheet of plywood on a set of saw horses would have aided the viewers of your video to see and understand what you did...the cattywompus tape flying all over didn’t help.
Other than that, good content.
Greenid Guy thanks for watching
Why spt1? Wouldnt it be better just to buy Spt2... Then you wouldnt have to worry about overloading for other other runs?? Im gonna buy some and just wondering why I should by 1 over the other... Thanks
Angel Cedillo so spt1 and spt2 can only carry 10 amps for less than 50 feet after 50’ it can handle 8 amps.
Both spt1 and two are both 18 gauge wire
Only difference is the coating on the wire
This was the most helpful and accessible video. I’m a display artist and this will be soooo helpful for future holiday projects. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Glad it was helpful!
I love this method since it makes it easy to put these up year after year. The problem is, I don't think I could use it. Our windows don't have a nook for the frame to slot into. They also don't poke out enough from the house for the piping to securely border.
Do you have vinyl siding around the window?
@@ChristmasLightsCommunity Yes
SilverrWinter you could use these clips here to hold the frame to the windows
