@@TeamHardLife ive been fishing these reels for awhile now and i can conclude the makairas and penn visx are the nicest ive used. They have better freespool, more drag, they are silent and just such a plessure to fish, out in so cal we use these for 200lb-300lb tuna and they do much better than the avets.
Well for us land based fishing is totally different than boat fishing and for use the killer of makira, penn reels and even shimano reel couldn't handle the dead weight of our surf weights and breaking them loose compared to that of an Avet or Fin-Nor reels as well however line capacity was another major deal breaker for me as well.. none of them held what the Avet could hold as well as the pricing being the cheapest of all of them
This is the exact setup we use on the west coast to catch cow 200 lb and super-cow 300lb yellowfin and bluefin tuna.. 800+ yds of 100 on a visx 20 is going to stop 99% of the tuna out there.. visx and makairas are very popular out here as are rail rods.
