Well, I heard they were good, but I didn't imagine it would be this good. Just a unit of a watch. So handsome, so well finished. A bit chunky, but if you don't mind that, you will not be disappointed. TWO THUMBS UP.
Received mine 3 weeks ago. It grows everyday on me. Incredibly well executed, every aspect. The nh35 is impressive. The looks unique. Bracelet and lugs curve perfectly, even on my slender wrist.
Very very satisfied.
A bit of a good news in the middle of this covid war. My Vanuatu has arrived. I’m wearing it to bed.
Szymon Halasa Hope the lume doesn’t keep you awake! Ordered mine today- can’t wait!
If I may ask, how did you order one? Every tome I check the site they aren’t available. Any hints? Thanks in advance.
Steve Had to get on their email list (register at website). They’ll send you an advance notice of upcoming sale. Set alarm on your calendar and be ready to hit the buy button at opening time!
Willard, congrats. Steve, indeed buying it is kind of like winning a lottery. Hope you get yours soon.
I've just bagged one on Ebay I'm looking forward to it however I did pay $309 plus the dreaded VAT and import tax
I was lucky to snag one of these after being on the wait list for months. Don't think I'm ever selling - best bang-for-the-buck of any watch I own.
How much have you waited?
Same question as above!..lol..
@@vanwandererx852 I waited over a year
Jody!!!! NO MORE!! I am hooked on HELM WATCHES!! I purchased 3 on the secondary market this week. You put the JUST ONE MORE WATCH into JUST ONE MORR WATCH!! 😂😂😂 Love the Channel!!
That's an impressive watch, more considering the price (275 dollars), this watch proves that a lot of brands are "stealing" cutting things too much for profits!.
El Cajon de Pepillo what else is new
Blown away by this one. What a quality bracelet. Looks like a piece of art.
Yes Joop, pretty astonishing for the cash. Cheers!
You can expect the first UA-cam review!
Perfect! :-)
Got my Vanuatu today, 11 months after I ordered it last November. It's built like a tank. Solid but well finished. Worth spending $300 and waiting rather than spending 200 bucks on Chinese brands like San martin etc on AliExpress.
I watched this video of yours 3-4 months ago and memorized Helm's name. Today I found one like this on sale nearby. Two hours later I have it on my wrist and couldn't be happier over a watch.
Excellent news! Well done mate.
I just received the latest version and wasn't expecting to be impressed at all but, I was pleasantly surprised. It beats the SKX by quite a bit IMO.
Best watch under $300. I haven't changed my mind!
It's not that hard to bit the SKX tbh ;) Helm watches are decent indeed (and nothing more!), but their ordering process and customer shopping experience are truly a shitshow. I'd prefer they gave up on "personal note to a buyer" that costs nothing and instead totally redesigned their process, as the current one shows nothing else than total lack of any respect for customers.
Nice watch. I am selling off all my new watches except my Sea-gull Ocean Star and my 38mm 1963 on a Rios brown leather strap.
I have lots of great vintage watches by Sea-gull and Raketa.
I do have a 5 year old Seiko 4r39 which my children gave me for my 75th birthday. I shall be wearing that at Christmas time.
Just received this watch in the mail. By far, the best $300.00 I've spent on ANY watch. Also ordered a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red that showed up today as well...what a POS. Dial is off, minute hand is bent upwards, scratches already on bracelet, crown is a pain to screw down. Guess the Steinhart is going back to Germany....I'll keep this Chinese made Helm any day over the Steinhart!
bezel is stainless steel. They coming out with v5 but still ss bezel. I was told the hour marker on v5 is shinier per new coating. I think ceramic is over due.
I think the Seiko NH35A is one of the best movements you can get without breaking the bank. It's hand windable, hackable, bi-directional winding, >41-hour power reserve, Diashock™, Seiko reliability, and maintenance that won't kill you. What else could you ask for? I get +/-3 seconds per day on my Invicta Pro Diver 9094OB.
My Nursing School (UTHealth-BSN) Graduation Gift last month is the exact same watch, Invicta 9094OB, and I LOVE it. - The best bang for my wife's buck !!!
Craig D'Amico yep. The 9094OB truly is a very nice watch. I'm very pleased with mine, and the blue color.. I could just turn off the TV and stare at it instead. And at $80 it's ~1% the price of a real Subbie with date. Yes it's not the finest homage to get thrown in the drink, but man.. it sure is a very good watch at 1% the price!
Great review! I've had my V3 for almost a year now. It's been a tank! I wear it in a regular rotation (mostly on a strap) and it has been running about +2 a day. If anyone is concerned about the size, I have a 7 inch wrist and I feel that it wears smaller than it's measurements.
Jody you're 2 - 0..the Vanuatu is now the 2nd watch I've bought because of you! As if watching this review 50 times wasn't enough, its even more breathtaking in person! You're like the Cupid of Horology 😁
It'll fit perfectly on my wrist. That bracelet is a true winner, nice look overall. Cool review on a great looking watch.
Returned to this video once again just to tell Jody a big THANK YOU. just got my Helm Vanuatu, fell in love with this timepiece after watching this particular video.
So, THANK YOU Jody.
Same here, must have signed up around the same time. Enjoy.
@@edwardbowen-humphreys9758 You too 👍🏻
Yep, after starting at around 6400 on the list, received on the 24th of this month after a 22 month wait.
Wife has put it away till July as an anniversary pressy!.. so not worn yet.
Wow! I love the lume! The bracelet design is really cool, looks good on the straps as well but I’d have a hard time taking it off the bracelet! I agree with you on the date wheel the black looks very clean. Great vid as always!
Watchin' has
Bought one of these back in June of last year. I was going back and forth between this and a SKX007 but ultimately landed on the Vanuatu. Amazing watch for the money! Keeps great time. (Mine is gaining about 3 sec./day.)
Fit and finish is excellent, great lume and the bracelet is one of the most solid and comfortable i have ever experienced. I never take mine off the bracelet (i'm not a bracelet person i might add) i prefer to wear my watches on leather or nato straps. So that's saying something.
The only minor criticism i have is that i would have likes to see a clasp with pushers instead of the clasp it comes with.
But all in all it's a great watch that punches way above it's paygrade!
Still itching to get a SKX though...
I also have seven inch wrists and I had my doubts about the size of this watch, but seeing you wear it shows how the lugs hug the wrist. I'm gonna have to end up with one of these!
who can dislike your videos. honestly
Great review of a great for the price watch ,I think you are one of the best reviewer's on u tube and never miss a posting
Man, if I hadn't just snagged a Marathon TSAR I'd be all over this. I almost picked one up a year or so, and I'm glad it lives up to expectations.
Hey man! Hope you are well. Yeah, a beast of a watch. Just lovely. Cheers!
Really glad I didn’t find a marathon yet. This is the next!
Most of Marathon's Tool line spoils you for a lot.
Just tried to buy one of these today. Very disappointed with their website. After several minutes of slow loading I got one in the cart, but the Paypal dialogue wouldn’t let me put in an address in a different country. Went back to use my girlfriend’s Paypal but the Helm site is giving me 403 Access Denied. Top service!
I purchased one after seeing your video (black date and back bezel) and also got two leather straps. Nice video.
Jody sorry to tell you your title is wrong. I own the Ti, this watch is the best under $1000 maybe even $2000. Punches way above its class. I'm a watch enthusiast that owns or have owned Rolex Seadweller and Explorer, Omega Seamster and speedmaster, Tudor Pelagos, GMT and Chrono Panda. Fortis 42, Sinn 104 and 556, Certina DS, a few Hamilton, Tissot, Glycine, Steinhart. Many Seiko, Citizen, Casio and others. I no longer own some of the aforementioned watches, I got my Vanuatu two weeks ago. This watch is over engineered, it has Tudor pelages and Sinn U1 DNA. True not a watch for everyone, it is a manly tool of a watch no small wrist ( Less than 7'') allowed. Perfect for military, police, Fire Fighters, Divers, Construction Workers, Machine Operators and Truck Drivers. If you work on the field and love a rugged tool watch this one is the one you need. Worth the 11 month wait paid $385 including shipping. This watch will not leave my collection, I will drive it to the ground.
Oh, well done, Jody!! An excellent review as usual. What a beautiful watch and that bracelet!!! All superbly made. It looks like the only watch you'd ever need! I can't believe they can turn out something at this pricepoint that would shame some brands at five times the price!! Its genius!!
Very masculine. Great look. I'm today wearing my v.3. For me, it's perfect in every way.
Matt is the man. He's hooked me up with a new Vanuatu. Should be here by weeks end. I hope... Great video as usual. Thanks for posting it.
Totally out of stock, I emailed them yesterday and they said they’re hoping to get some in early November, I can’t wait, what a watch! 😍
after they oversold the other month while taking my money I must tell you I just got the email and my watch is coming in a couple of weeks two months ahead of the promised time. Thank you helm. Great job.
I`ve had the version 3 for almost a year now. amazing watch. love it so much!! Do a review of the Helm KHURABURI next. i have not seen a single video about it on UA-cam yet.
Great review! Perfectly reflects my thoughts on this watch. I own this v4 version for about 3 months now and have been very pleased ever since. Great bang for the buck... I'd go as far as saying this is the best diver's watch under 2,000 $. Well, I'm kinda partial because I'm really into utilitarian tool watches that can take a beating.
Notwithstanding, this watch really has style. And, as pointed out by you, I've never seen a more solid construction nor better lume on a watch. Well not at this price point or way above it. You have to see it in real life to really appreciate it.
Another not so umimported part of my positive experience with this watch is the way Helm conducts it's business. They have fantastic customer service. It starts with the way they inform you about the route the shipping will take until it reaches you. The shipping from Gangzhou to Southern Germany took about 3 work days!!! with all intermediate stops laid out in the shipping notification. Ordering some parts after the fact was handled also really well by the Helm team. And they are really open to user's suggestions. This is also evident in the 3 revisions made due to suggestions by the community since the watch's incarnation. Anyway, I see nothing I wanted changed in this v4 Vanuatu.
otobotrecords so many great watches under 2000 dollars. Oris Aquis for example.
trotilolo maybe a little hyperbole on my part for being heavily pleased by the value for money the Vanuatu delivers. Oris has some great value watches as well for just short above the $1000 mark, I know. Was considering one of the new Aquis models, but I'm not sure regarding the integrated bracelet.
I have been watching your videos for years but only just stumbled across this one....Your intro's are absolutely hilarious! You should have been an actor!
Awesome watch . I have a version 3 and it has been a awesome watch. Also, Helm makes awesome watch bands . Thanks for the review .
This is a great micro brand company creating a great timepiece...nearly indestructible, I cant seem to take it off. I replaced the actual bracelet with a “Bond” (with orange) strap, absolutely stunning. If you like the Vanuatu, then you’ll love HELMs Khuraburi in blue with orange .....some days I cant decide which one to wear! Enjoy watching you’re vids! Keep it up!
I wouldn't mind if I had a NH35 in every watch I own. Reliable and in my experience very accurate
Thanks for the Helm reviews Jody. Ordered a Vanuatu 1 minute after Sales opened. Appreciate your work.
Thanks for the review Jody. I have owned an earlier model of the Helm Vanuatu and I agree with all of your super comments - The Helm Vanuatu really is a keeper and the build quality is excellent.
If there any any negative point for me, living with the watch for the last two years, then it has to be that it is a bit too heavy for me to wear with that beautiful metal strap......but I don't like how much watch case you see with any other strap, nato etc. attached to the watch case; a real dilema !! The watch therefore, though excellent is an enigma for me, as I love it and plan to keep it, but don't wear it nearly as much as I should...hey ho, that's why we collect watches!!!
It is indeed quite the watch. Tad big case for my wrist size ( puny wrists). Very nice bracelet,
Joe G Nice for Me, My handspan is 260mm🤣🇦🇺
Wow, what a watch! Would love to see them making a watch for smaller wrists.
7rslender one is rumoured for release this year, 40mm called Komodo
That lume is unbelievable. You may be right about best under 300.
I have received my Khuraburi on Monday - can't stop looking at it, also have spent the last 2 days swapping bracelet with nylon strap and rubber - it just looks great on anything I put on it... this is such a great quality piece I cannot wait to buy a Vanuatu next in October.
There is quite a bit of space between lug holes and lug tips - I believe that by shaving off some of this eccess length, the overall lug to lug could be easily reduced by at least 3 mm resulting in a lug to lug of 47mm. whilst I think this would not massively affect the overall watch aesthetic, 2-3 mm can make a world of difference for small wristed boys (and girls) like me. Not a deal breaker for me (I will buy a Vanuaru regardless) but would be good to have a slightly shorter length.
Also meant to say that both vanuatu and khuraburi could have a slightly reduced bezel to match the case size - I know the current overhanging is meant to offer better grip though I think no overhanging won't make it less grippable - look at the Komodo, no overhanging there. so there you have it - slightly shorter lugs for the Vanuatu and a bezel diameter of 42 ibstead of 43 for both khuri and Vanu... any thoughts? by the way mine isn't a complaint - I adore both watches I am just brainstorming ways to maximise wearability for myself and the world small wristed community :)
Man, Helm is knocking it out of the park with their watches.
Have the other two Helms and I love them. Watching this again to see why I never pulled the trigger and I remember. Didn't like the face but looking again, I may reconsider.
Yes, I did notice the emphatic exclamation mark which made me watch the review straight away. The bracelet looks fantastic. By the way, that guy who played the part of the letter opener was fantastic, you should get him to do more videos with you.
Hahahahahaha! Thanks Jeff, I'll see if he is available. Cheers.
Received one of these last month. WOW.
This thing is BUILT!
If Chuck Noris wore divers....
Have signed up to get the others now.
Hi. I'm french and your review and English are perfect for someone like me who understand English a little bit. I just ordered a Vanuatu and a Khuraburi. I should receive it on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hope it will be a good choice. Thanks again. Cheers mate.
Currently 468 on the list so with a production output of around 200/250 a month i should be getting a notification by July/August.
Thanks Jody another great review. Best wishes from Adrian in Sheffield England .
I love your videos!!! I didn’t know you had a twin though, maybe he is the elusive Mr X? Love the watch especially the bracelet! I have a new grail watch!
Just ordered mine to add to the the Khuraburi I bought last month. Thanks for the review.
Have just paid £457 , ebay. Happy to pay it as well. Arriving this week.
I’m getting a Marathon vibe from it. Not a bad thing at all!
Why did I watch this!? I don’t need another diver, but.......this is almost too good to pass up. Great review, thanks!
NH35 is like the AK47 of watch movements. 😂
Beautiful watch. Loved the review. Best watch channel on UA-cam by far. By far!
Love this video. This Helm seems pretty amazing for the money. Definitely looking to add this one to my collection. .
never ever saw watches like this before this channel
Those Springbars are like Seiko's Fat spring bars used on their diving watches. Should never have to really replace them...super strong and beefy.
Almost impossible to buy one - I had to use all my knowledge concerning order and payment servers and their processes to be successful... it got less than a minute to sell whole 200 batch :-o WHOA!
Arrived on Friday. There was a delay sending some of the package(s) by DHL, than it took only 3 days to be delivered including paying customs. Watches are *massive*, so is the bracelet. At the same time, comfortable too. So far -3spd. Great 6 adjustments on clasp. Design is very tooly and matte finish is great. As such I expect the look to grow over time while polishing here and there, some scratches over the years to come. The lume is very good, probably no worse than my (current beat watch) Tissot PR200 Aquatic, but than again, it was some of the last Mohawks with a tritium powder, now 25 year old and depleting slowly...
Thanks for this. I've found the diver for me! Was a toss up between the Vostok Amphibia, Orient Ray, or Phoibos Wavemaster but this jumps out at me for sure.
Yeah, I was on the waiting list for too long and finally got mine 2 weeks ago. Unbeatable value.
And now comes... helm Vanuatu Titanium! The same beast bot at 145 grams!
A €80 Invicta Pro Diver also has NH35A... So... I'd cheap out & go for that one 🤣😝
This is going to be mine as soon as they are in stock. Fingers crossed they'll be back in Feb :)
picked one up about a week ago. I'm loving every bit of it.
Man! That's a beautiful chunky watch.
Finally hope to receive mine tomorrow or Tuesday !
I got mine on Monday (05-29) and it does not disappoint. Got my set of all Helm watches complete now..
Very behind on Helm so I'm 4,500 down on the list but was lucky enough to get one of the lottery spots. Got the watch yesterday and I can't take it off!
Helm would be great watch if it is available to buy, but now I'm happy because I've bought Phoibos 010B...
Ok was about to buy Seiko skx ,No way I can do that now ,Have to have a Helm ....I'll wait .
Another top review and what a great looking watch. Like others I ordered one after watching your review and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Lovely specs for such a cheap watch and it looks so good too. Anyway, love your reviews and keep em coming.
Wow. That timepiece is built like a tank. Great video. Funny intro.
Very nice watch. I am more of a Quartz fan (less maintenance than automatics), but that watch is a very tempting buy!
john smith Hi l have Seiko Bell-Matic 47 years with no maintenance and things are fine
If only one could buy this watch
Another great video. Super informative love the humour and just the sweet spot in terms of how long it runs for.
Some really great watch reviewers on UA-cam but it’s official mate you hold the title right now. Great work!
Thanks for your kind words! Cheers.
Looks like a great value for the money. Thanks for the review
GREAT REVIEW!!!!!!! Your approach to reviewing watches is fun and factual. You certainly have a talent in communications.
Thanks for the kind words mate!
Fantastic review. I have always stuck to established brands but that could change. Just wish this was 40-41mm. Hilarious intro. This watch is a beauty
my lord it's like staring at a beautiful supercar 🥲🥲
While in Vanuatu did you have any problems with any watches. My sis went there a couple years ago & her & her friend both had auto watches that stopped working. That's a beautiful piece, dope bracelet.
Especially in the lume shot man that alignment is horrific
I recall the earlier versions were thinner; not quite sure why the increased the height . . .
Jody, based on your recommendation, I bought the Phoibos. I am delighted with the watch, 40 mm, Miyota 9015 high-beat movement, sapphire, great bracelet, and great specs. I think the Miyota 9015 beats the Seiko NH35 in terms of accuracy. We'll see! What do you think?
I have both, (9015-nh35) and the 9015 is so much better than my seiko.
Hey Jody love the watch stand in the background …… does it help keep your automatic watches keep active?? Can you please let me know a bit more about it. Thank you by the way ……great review again 😃👌
I got all of them the Nelson shark diver. the Armada a1 ad marc&son and this helm watches are best bang for buck and great looking beautiful watches
11/06/2019 IT'S JUST ARRIVED, my goodness what a Watch , Honestly Guy's it the Puppie's Nadger's . 7 day's from despatch notification to UK done and dusted . Leater strap is MEGA . At 7'-06" see micro adjust ? NOT NOW , just has micro adjust on Diver ratcheting extension it now has 2 push button's on strap where micro adj was , 7'-34" in the back of strap appear's easy release spring bar on Super bracelet , SORRY that's gone , now there is a slight differance in that , but hey , this " Thing " is just a joy , BUY now , don't wait just do it , take your time sizing the brilliant bracelet , using the supplied tool , Bergeon at the side for when required and what you have is just BRILL . The 2019 Vanuatu is a JOY , it really is , thank you Jody for the intro ,spot on pal .
I could hardly understand a word of what you wrote. I'm jealous you have my dream tool watch and I don't but I'm afraid your post was mostly word vomit
@@winstonsmiththx1138 I take it then Winston , that you don't live in the North West of England , miss spelt LEATHER was only problem I could see , puppies nadgers mean's DOG'S BOLLACK'S which mean's FANTASTIC , BRILL is an abbreviation of brilliant , UK English is quite a complicated , variable language , it is also " age " sensitive , differant generation's using differing colloquialism's , Fab or gear , not in everyday use now but go back to the Swinging Sixtie's and they were everywhere .
It may be word vomit to you , but I think it's more colourfull than that , better than say " this is a very nice watch , goodbye " see what I mean , NO PASSION .
Thanks for the reply, and I certainly understood it as well. You are correct I'm not in the UK to my displeasure. I'm sure I would have no problem hearing it spoken but I was totally lost reading.
No offense and cheers to your watch and taste.
@@winstonsmiththx1138 My pleasure , a big hello from what's left of UK. A head's up on the Vanuatu , because I am so pleased with the watch , I sent an email to the guy at Helm ; nice fella name just escape's me at the moment ; asking if there were any still available as I wanted to buy my Brother one as a Christmas present ( He did me a big favour a while ago ) none available now but may well be as pre order's , in October , so why not send an email asking to go on a waiting list , it worked for me , Cheer's .
@@theestimator no doubt brother thanks for the tip. I'm now on the notice list and nice timing my birthday is in October. Love you mate
Great review. The watch looks great. Similar in appearance to the Ball Skindiver, which i love but can't afford.
What a stunning piece! Good video.
I'm pretty sure that's a Strapcode Super Engineer II bracelet. Just modded to be completely brushed.
Funny opening 🙃... Anyway, besides the sinn U21 the dial face looks like those vintage Zodiac Divers. The watch is good looking thought. Thanks for the video amigo👍.
Quickly becoming one of my favorite watch channels! After having both the Vanuatu and Komodo, which do you prefer if you could only choose one?
Made me laugh too. Further negatives : for a dive watch, no extension. You are not going to use those micro adjustments every time you get in a wetsuit. Also, it looked to me like the bevel didn't align perfectly with the indicies on the dial? For my tastes, it is too thick and I need the day complication, so it's not for me. Still, a very interesting watch.
Can you try to get your hands on an ISL-26 for review? Or any of the islander samurai models? I think it could give this Helm a run for its money! Marc at longislandwach did a fantastic job! Currently battling between these two and am leaning towards the Islander!
It seems that the Islander watches could be competitive. They make a Seiko inspired sub with better specs, would love to see a review
Would've love a ceramic bezel insert, but I just ordered a Tissot seastar anyway... I just can't go with non ceramic...
$300.00?
This one has made my wishlist. 👍
The intro. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
The watch..😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
It's built for the Apocalypse!! Holy smokes!! And 6425 compliant as well.
Reminds me a bit of the sinn u1 with the hands there which I love but can't afford. This however is probably the next watch I get
