Lossless scaling is truly a game-changer, not just a gimmick for tech-savvy gamers but a must-have tool for anyone serious about optimizing performance. Imagine taking a game locked at 900p, pushing it to a crisp 1080p, and doing it all seamlessly, with just a click. It’s almost like having a hidden ace up your sleeve for smoother gameplay. And the fact that you can double or even quadruple your frame rate? That's insane! Sure, it's not available for SteamOS, but for us Windows handheld users, this is a powerhouse. Trust me, your gameplay will never feel the same again.
Wow that’s high praise thanks Gregg! Yeah lossless scaling seemed a difficult concept to grasp from other UA-camrs which is why I wanted to make a vid to showcase it in the most simple and most easily accessible way as possible 🙌
Not sure if it's the game or if I did something wrong but it's not scaling up the resolution but the fps has definitely worked but will keep try I am on batman arkham knight
Note that: for best performance for frame gen. You need to get at least 30+ fps native, 40 fps is recommended. So first make sure and adjust the game settings to get avg. 40 fps and then use frame gen 👍
The goal is to hit a minimum of the refresh rate cap of your device so yeah you need 30fps at 4x gen to get to 120 fps. You can then limit the frame rate of your device with tuner & basically get a game to run at a consistent 120 fps where the game never dips above or below. It runs at exactly 120 fps at all times. Most games should prolly be ran at medium settings & maybe at 720-800p. Many games have a built in upscaler you can use. But considering the compression rate on these smaller displays it’ll still probably look pretty good anyway & it’ll run damn fast.
Super useful information I was just wondering about rule of thumb was for the pure rasterization Baseline FPS for the best results. I hope I said that correctly. 😅 your comment should be definitely considered for being pinned. And what an excellent guide as well got me up and running super smooth. ❤
Great video! Finally gonna try this. I don't think anyone else has this detailed tutorial! Awesome! And definitely nobody else has pancake in the video so it's already 1000x better than any other!
Hahaha thanks Droide!! You’re right though, in all the other UA-cam vids I watched on Lossless Scaling it made me more confused than before I watched it 🤣🤣 so happy ya found it very easy and accessible! And yes Pancake is the icing on the cake 🥰🐈🐈
I had my doubts but this was excellent! Can confirm I tested on Cyberpunk on base Ally X - runs 'fine' on its own with screen tearing and motion blur when things get hectic...tested lossless scaling according to this video and I was soon running around committing war crimes against the local cops and it was running as smooth as it would on my gaming PC (albeit playing with a gamepad rather than mouse and keyboard)! Thanks for all the tips :)
the tearing that happens on the player head when moving the camera in almost every game is a no-go for me, I will wait for AFMF2 which is a better implementation for FG
I downloaded about 30 games from game pass & I ran them on a 7000 series chip handheld with 32 gigs of RAM. An Aya Neo device not the Alley X, but I ran lossless scaling 4x on all of them & they all ran clean. No fracturing. No bugs. No graphical errors. Smooth as butter. The reality is some of absolutely highest end stuff is going to mess with lossless. But at this point I bet you can run, minimum 70-75% of all games at 4x frame gen & get near perfect performance. But… you need a premium device in the modern era to obtain these results. Obviously. I don’t own an Alley X, but it definitely qualifies as modern day premium.
with 3x fps artifacts are overwhelming at fast moving scenarios like camera rotation. personally i think amd fsr3 frame gen or driver level one is way better.
not recommended for fps competitive games. it will add input delay. just use fsr upscaling in the warzone settings you'll get 100 fps no need for more on a handheld
Do you have a tutorial or can you do a tutorial on docks for ally x? I have the jsaux RGB and i don't know what im doing wrong, the performance is horrible, i cant even get 60fps on fire pro wrestling world anymore, it was doing ok, but the dock mode seems to he getting worse, i also cant download the firmware update
Thanks for the suggestion tronzilla - I use my Ally X 100% handheld so docks aren’t really my area of expertise - can any viewers offer any suggestions about docks? 🤔
salut même en X2 tu vois des soucis au niveau de la tête...des artefacts, tu ne tourne pas suffisamment lorsque tu est en X2 comme en X4 et ducoups cela se vois, c'est pas encore parfait comme tu le dit
It can - I set the value to 2 from the default 1 in the vid which was still fine for single player games, we may struggle with high action competitive multiplayer fps games though..
Try it out and let us know if you get banned 🤣🤣 Only joking, no it’s safe to use, in the many years LS has existed there have been no known bans, it’s a simple overlay, it doesn’t modify any game data or inject anything 👍
Without motion vectors LS frame geneation quality is S*** and a artifact galore. Also its upscaling is much heavier on the fps to implement, much worse than LukeFZ mods, Optiscaler and DLSS enabler.

Love this. I heard of lossless scaling but never found a video that explains it well once again, you did it perfectly.

Ok, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Did I miss something? I tried jedi Survivor, followed all the steps, and it says scaling from 900p to 900p

@@PeteTalksTechcould you do a video using this Riva tuner and lossless please? As you’re very knowledgeable when doing these

Yes it's pretty bad bush on the x4 up scaling but hardly noticeable on the x2 thankfully...
This is exactly what i needed to know, thanks for this 🙌

Always a great video
Appreciate you and all our loyal and regular viewers so much! 🤩
Wouldn't it be nice if Amd would release THE NEXT MFMF without side loading.
In 5:16 you said, "leave performance to ON", but the video shows it's OFF, so which one?
Well spotted andi, my mistake make sure this is off 👍
Dropping a comment for Pancake
Pancake just meowed to say “thanks catsanova!” 🐈🐈🐈

Yes pawel I’ve mentioned in a few recent vids we should always enable fsr3 if available over LS or AFMF2 👍
Thanks for tutorial bought it using on red dead redemption 2 easy 50 frames and very rarely it lags.
Ace Waqas!
You need stable 30fps in the original game to get Lossless Scaling works perfectly
Ah thanks for sharing Truth! 🙌
Should i disable any built in upscaling for games aswell?
I would to avoid potential conflicts… 👍
Do amd settings have to be off for this to work?
I would yes as it may cause conflicts 👍
Yes watch the video
Do you use Riva tuner?
I haven’t, would you recommend?
how would this work. with warzone ? to get the most fps. can you do a video
not recommended for fps competitive games. it will add input delay. just use fsr upscaling in the warzone settings you'll get 100 fps no need for more on a handheld
Thanks elg!
How to use it in emulators? How to make game open in window mode?
We can select windowed mode within the emulator itself - I’ll be covering this in an upcoming vid, stay tuned! 👀

Whats the name of the foldable keyboard?
It’s called Zedo - I’ll be covering it in my Ally X essential accessories vid at the weekend so stay tuned! 👀
Did you really sneak an ubisoft ad in lol
It wasn’t intentional, they never paid me to 🤣
Does this help with input lag on First Person Shooters?
Max Frame Latency at 5:52 in the vid will need to be lower to make lag lower 👍
My vari bright it’s not optional, it’s there but I can’t turn it on or off. Is there a reason for this
We should be able to turn it to zero as it’s on a scale…
how do i set fortnite to 900p in window mode?
I don’t play fortnight but I’m guessing there are options for this in settings under Display or Graphics 👍
@@PeteTalksTech thanks! For me it becomes really stuttery with Lossless scaling

Yup 👍
I followed the instructions to the T. I found it my games run 50% better without this. Save your money
lossless scaling or AFMF?
Based on yesterdays poll Derek on our community page, our viewers are very split about which one is best 🤷
Will this work with emulators?
I’m pretty sure it will, gonna test this in a follow up vid so stay tuned! 👀

How does this compare to AMFM? And is the game stuttering or is that just the video?
@@mistermars9534 as far as my testing goes it’s smoother / more frames than the current AMFM on the Ally it’s a good upgrade
They both are pretty bad 😂 I just run native
It's looks like g force now ultimate would just be better
I’d love to try out G Force Now Ultimate, sounds like a great idea Mack for an upcoming vid! 👀
the shimmering and artifacts are still super terrible
Ew, outlaws.
Ya not a fan? At least I didn’t test this with Concord 🤣
Also with x4 Input lag 😂
Input lag ain't bad, still better than when you're streaming via Steam Link or Moonlight.
True Pomu, I didn’t really notice any input lag when making this vid 👍
Tried it with rd2, and it's a mess so much head vibration. 😅
😂🙈
