i still listen to this song because my dad use to play it all the time on road trips, he died 6 days after my 13th birthday, last time i saw him was when i was 11. now i’m about to be 15 and this song reminds me of him everytime it comes on, i tear up almost everytime.
Ran into this song and made me tear up thinkin about my life over the past 50 yrs . Thinkin what a fool i was for not going after my dreams and for settling for what didnt make me happy in life and wasting my youth .....live life like it's your last day here ...go for what makes you happy not what makes everybody else happy...
Charles Mullins I hear you brother, but pondering over what we could have been it’s a waste of time it will just eat at us from within instead enjoy every moment, and person that makes life worth living at the moment .... because in the grand scheme of things that moment when you are happy and satisfied is what really counts, and we can make that moment count by simply enjoying the fresh air the song of a bird the sound of rain or just the peace and quiet of nothingness.
heard this song just now R.I.P Daddy; this song is for you.... You've worked so hard and swallowed your pride! just for us. you were the best father ever....thank you for everything;

I could have been a guitarist in some band that made it but I took to the family trade of wrenching farming and driving truck. The girl who was gonna be the singer halfway settled somewhere outside of Nashville working whatever jobs she can get.

It's not even just a Rez song.. you know what.. I live on reserve and I sing it because it makes me feel better when I sing it and it gives me chills down my back when I sing it when I'm feeling low. A song isn't just a song to some people. 💕

dam dam , I just told my son to listen to this . he left last year and works hard ! I miss him very much, but he's happy doing what he wants to do! I stayed behind and did what I thought would make everyone happy.. psh
I chose to walk in my father's foot steps and be a union carpenter. After 35 years in the craft this song speaks to my life. I am proud of my father's career and mine as well. This song means something to everyone that proudly followed in their father's foot steps.
My tiny town is exactly like this. I’m a freshman in high school right now and as soon as I get out I’m taking off. I just have one burden to carry on my shoulders and that’s the family ranch. If you’ve ever seen Yellowstone that’s exactly what it was like in the nineties. My great uncle snapped and sold 59,000 acres. By 2001 we were down to 1000 acres. Then in 2002 my dad went off to chase his dreams and my granddaddy couldn’t do it anymore and sold the livestock we have left. I’m the oldest daughter of an only son. My daddy carries this on his shoulders every day, trying to get our land back. He’s an old man at 38 because of this and he sat my down a few weeks ago and told me to sell the land when I got it, because he couldn’t do it. but I told him I would regret that for the rest of my life. The land is all I’ve ever had and all I ever will have. Though it is a burden on my shoulders, it is a burden I could not live without.
It's sad watching people sell off their land. And greedy land grabbers grabbing it up. I love that show Yellowstone. I hate to say it but I'm definitely on team Dutton.
This song should support your efforts in becoming a damn man and damn good cowboy, you have a lot on your plate, but run it the way God tells you. America needs men like you,I'm proud of you, keep doing good
I feel for this story.... I once sold 21 acres that was near and dear to my heart. Sold it due to extenuating circumstances __ worse than a bad divorce.......
Hands down the best song that I have ever heard and now my friend thinks the same too. Lyrics: In the tiny town where I come from You grew up doing what your daddy does And you don't ask questions you do it just because You don't climb to high or dream too much With a whole lot of work and a little bit of luck You can wind up right back where your daddy was This little bitty town it ain't nothing new We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too Swallow your pride just to make your family proud If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town Yeah this one horse town I'm an old married man at the age of twenty three Got two little boys on the baseball team And that might be their only ticket out All they got is a worn out name And a daddy that could've gone all the way But I hung my saddle up and I settled down This little bitty town, oh it ain't nothing new We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too Swallow your pride just to make your family proud If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town Yeah this one horse town Oh yeah This little bitty town, oh yeah it ain't nothing new We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too Swallow your pride just to keep your family proud If I didn't think that it would shut the whole thing down I'd saddle that one horse and ride it right out of this town
First time I heard this song was at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. I have no idea how the hell I missed this gem of a song. I just stood there at the concert speechless, soaking this song in. This is truly amazing. Beautiful. Just Beautiful
It is amazing how the lyrics reflect the reality of the interior of Brazil as well. Just trade the baseball team for a football team. Listening to this piece of song now here from Juiz de Fora, MG, 🇧🇷👊🇺🇸
Great tune! I had a replay of Farm Aid on TV in the background while I was doing some stuff around the house and literally stopped in my tracks when I heard this one. Excellent stuff!
Don’t ever try to please everyone around you, please yourself. We born alone and we die alone. Know your worth and understand we all make it “there” at different periods of time. Wherever “there” is.

The folly of my life has been thinking that leaving that little town just meant physically moving away would set you free. Well, I did that. But that "one horse town" isn't just a place, it's a state of mind, and there I remained trapped. I never lived to my potential, or chased the dreams I was passionate about in any other place because my mind was stuck there in that way of thinking even though my body was somewhere else. Now I'm watching my hair turn white, my dreams grow dim, and realizing it's too late to fix all that I broke or find all that I lost. So saddle up, but when you leave that town, leave that way of life behind too.
"I'm an old married man at the age of 23, got two little boys on the baseball team". Man, how many 23yrs old young ppl are right now worrying about nothing but posting selfies at the gym, checking their timelines and watching their favorite youtubers' hollow opinions about absolutely nothing. Man, this good ol' world had already seen better days, oh yeah it did.

Lyrics:
In the tiny town where I come from
You grew up doing what your daddy does
And you don't ask questions you do it just because
You don't climb to high or dream too much
With a whole lot of work and a little bit of luck
You can wind up right back where your daddy was
This little bitty town it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah this one horse town
I'm an old married man at the age of twenty three
Got two little boys on the baseball team
And that might be their only ticket out
All they got is a worn out name
And a daddy that could've gone all the way
But I hung my saddle up and I settled down
This little bitty town, oh it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah this one horse town
Oh yeah
This little bitty town, oh yeah it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to keep your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole thing down
I'd saddle that one horse and ride it right out of this town

First time I heard this song was at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. I have no idea how the hell I missed this gem of a song. I just stood there at the concert speechless, soaking this song in. This is truly amazing. Beautiful. Just Beautiful
1:37 Do you play and sing this song? Love the words!
Holy crap! So good! Could of been written about me. Married at 23 with two boys playing baseball. Damn!!!!!
LaPlata, MD?!
Very good! It is amazing how the lyrics reflect the reality of the interior of Brazil as well. Just trade the baseball team for a football team.
Listening to this piece of song now here from Juiz de Fora, MG, 🇧🇷👊🇺🇸
Eu adoro esse estilo musical 😍👏👏👏!!!
My dad died this reminds me of him,

Is ALIVE!
Love This Band !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Great song and is a true description of life in the south. How 1.4K people don't like this is beyond me.
Great tune! I had a replay of Farm Aid on TV in the background while I was doing some stuff around the house and literally stopped in my tracks when I heard this one. Excellent stuff!
So great song my favorite of the band
Don’t ever try to please everyone around you, please yourself. We born alone and we die alone. Know your worth and understand we all make it “there” at different periods of time. Wherever “there” is.

-Lyrics-
In the tiny town where I come from
You grew up doing what your daddy does
And you don't ask questions you do it just because
You don't climb too high or dream too much
With a whole lot of work and a little bit of luck
You can wind up right back where your daddy was
This little bitty town, it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us to
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah, this one horse town
I'm an old married man at the age of twenty three
Got two little boys on the baseball team
And that might be their only ticket out
All they got is a worn out name
And a daddy that could've gone all the way
But I hung my saddle up and I settled down
This little bitty town, oh, it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us to
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah, this one horse town
Oh yeah
This little bitty town, oh yeah, it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us to
Swallow your pride just to keep your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole thing down
I'd saddle that one horse and ride it right out of this town
This song makes me cry

One of the best songs I've ever heard. Niel Young level.
so absolutely Neil young lvl.. but these guys are so talented as Neil, even tho he sat the standard and are forever a legend.. love 'em both
The folly of my life has been thinking that leaving that little town just meant physically moving away would set you free.
