I wouldn't say that Joe Bonamassa is the greatest guitarist ever, but he's right up there with Hendrix and Clapton. This live version of "Just Got Paid" is positively breathtaking, andJoe's backup musicians are awesome, too. The drummer especially is one of the best I've heard in recent years.
I first heard Joe on a PBS re-broadcast of his Beacon Theater show. When I tuned in, he was playing Midnight Blues. His playing was fabulous. Then I heard him sing. I was riveted. His voice is perfect for his music: DISTINCTIVE, powerful, and his pitch is spot-on. Don't get no betta, brotha! His 'sound' makes me envision him standing in front of the microphone at Sun Studio 55 years ago. Great? Close enough. He isn't trying to be Pavarotti, taste is subjective, and your wife needs a Beltone. ; ]
How can anyone NOT enjoy this stuff....he rocks, he's a bluesman, he does Jazz he can do heavy metal when he wants....but what he's doing is ALL good rock and roll with a blues overtone....I could listen to this man all day ( oops, I DO )....Can't wait to seem him in Durham this year....
Totally Unbelievable . I can listen to Joe B all day . What a great song writer and Arranger . I feels so good bring back Blues Rock . A breath of fresh air .He deserves all . Dedication No interruptions Super focus . . Love the he incorporates olod songs into his songs . Memories . Go for it Kid Keep pushing out great Blues Rock . Whatever you do DO NOT DRIFT . Good Luck
If anyone can pull off such a brilliant ZZ cover, it's this man. Can't wait to see him later in the year in the UK for the 7th time. 5 People didn't get paid today either.
Joe is it! What a master blues/rock player and at such a young age. There is Joe then there is everyone else. The stars lined up with the planets and made this one!
Stevie Ray Vaughn gave back to the blues. He respected and honored those who came before him. Joe Bonamassa and Guitar Center are slapping the blues right in it's face. I saw something at one of the "contests" that made me throw up.
I stumbled onto this vid 2-3 weeks ago, and it just plain rocks. Joe B's soloing has elements of Santana, Frampton and Eric Johnson. Amazing player - I could listen to this guy for hours.
Roll on Blackpool in October. Not quite gonna be the same without Bogey but I'm more than happy to pay my cash to see the best bluesman on the planet for the umpteenth time. JB - Keepin' the blues alive.
JUST SAW HIM IN DURHAM NC LAST NIGHT!! one of the best shows i've ever been to. he's a great guitarist/singer. prolly one of the best. who's got something to say?
For those of you who just missed what happened... That was zz top blending into Jimmy Page's "Dazed and Confused", which he does absolutely beautifully. A 20 year younger Stevie Ray Vaughan with faster fingers and just as much soul, Joe's one of the greatest guitarist in the industry today.
Saw him and the band in Zagreb, Croatia and man I can just say he has the best guitar sound I've ever heard! Not to mention his outstanding technique, it was amazing to watch and listen :)
You folks need to quit knocking the guy and listen close to what he's doing...he's making big money right now,,,are you???...didn't think so...this man is an incredible player with HEART!!!....
I don't know where I'm coming in on this conversation. I didn't see the any derogatory statements against anyone, but I'm with you, even if you were just talking about someone in general. I've been around musicians and music my whole life ...only two guitarist upon hearing them play for the first time was I sure that this was excellence..there's plenty of great guitarist in all genres. .I have heard plenty of them say Joe B.is the best they have Ever heard.Clapton said J.B.is the best right now....what could anyone find to be critical of his playing..??
Utterly breathtaking. I've never heard this guy before tonight. I am a massive Led Zeppelin fan and to hear huge note-perfect chunks of Jimmy Page solo's woven perfectly in to this fresh, sharp sound is awesome. I wish I'd heard that live.
Have to agree with ckacda and other commenters with praise...this guy is very very good and am looking forward to future maturation...a real talent! Can't believe there are 5 dislikes...must be rappers or Lady Gaga fans LOL
This is some of the best Rock I have ever seen in my 59 years. I've seen all the best and JB is right up close to the top of my list.. Excellent I will see him LIVE 3-04 Portland OR.
Wow!!!...there are actually six idiots ( dislikes )...How can anyone not appriciate such a talent as this...everything this man does is incredible....keep it up Joe...Hope to see you soon...
Bonamassa only covers songs worth covering...And he nails them every fucking time. The best thing to happen to the music we love since SRV & that's a fuckin' fact. JB - Keepin' the blues alive.
If Joe Bonamassa was looking for an indictment by the Fashion Police, then he NAILED it! That drummer deserves a Grammy Award for... DRUMMING??? If that isn't a category, then it should be.
I object to the idea of a Fashion Police indictment. Bonamassa's look is perfect for him. Can't beat an all black suit and shades. It's worked well for the Blues Brothers and the Men in Black, Johnny Cash, and others I can't think of right now. The look is staid. Conveys intensity. Slightly threatening. Badass.
Joe's backup players are frigging AWESOME! (The drummer is especially excellent.) It's hard to believe that a band can make this kind of sound with just a few guys. THIS IS WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT!
@Junze79 yeah those speed runs of the Em pentatonic are flawless, he takes simplicity and turns it into gold. joe really is amazing, the best guitarist i have ever heard, i've played guitar for three years, and drawn influence from many different artists, but joe takes the cake. every single time. hands down.
I've seen Joe many times; most recently from the first row when he headlined at Royal Albert Hall. He brings it to the table each and every time I've seen him. The man plays guitar like no other! :)
one of the best videos out there!!! he is Amazing @@@@Mary Thompson@@@ Big Fan Since 2007,,,Love him Saw him in Concert Got to Shake his hand, Great Guy!!!!
i had joe playing on the speakers and london's New Years fireworks on the monitor. guess what? yea. it kicked ass. wish i had the skills to put the 2 2gether. someone? anyone?
Awesome video! He is such a great player I liked the Dazed and Confused solo. I also think I heard a snippet at the very end that sounded like Blind Faith "Can't Find my way Home"
@JeffKnight I've seen him to in Bournemouth, he played this song with a Gibson Explorer, he has a little guy that brings his guitars on stage for him and ever few songs he changes guitar. the best gig i've been to, better than maiden at the o2!!! the man is a legend, raise a glass now to his parents :)
Joe is the greatest ever. Nobody can come close to his level of talent.
How about the dudes who wrote just got paid and dazed and confused
i think they were in some other little covers bands LOL

Joe has my vote for president. Vote for Joe! Viva!

This is the first I have seen JB. Wow! The band is polished. and he kicks ass.
Going to see him tonight! Greatness will ensue and all others will be left speechless.

Joe really kicks it up a notch, his most honest playing, had to throw in a few scales for the jazz crowd
I've seen Joe many times; most recently from the first row when he headlined at Royal Albert Hall. He brings it to the table each and every time I've seen him. The man plays guitar like no other! :)
