    Think back in the day, most artists didn't use explicit lyrics. The Doors crossed that boundary. Those were the days.

      Some artists did at the time, not many people cared at the time unlike 2021 where you have to literally label *EXPLICIT* before you publish it otherwise you get a big fat fucking fine of up to $100,000 if 1 person gets offended, damn the FCC

      The coolest part is they didn’t just cross these boundaries after they achieved fame. They were doing this sort of stuff while still playing at the whiskey. The only other band I can think of that in this period in the late 60s and early 70s threw pc out the door is Black Sabbath. I mean just imagine for a minute, the Beatles literally had their albums burnt here in America and couldn’t play gigs at certain stops because of the massive amount of hate they got because John Lennon correctly pointed out that the Beatles to kids seemed even more important then Jesus. Now imagine people’s shock hearing jim Morrison say he wants to bang his mom at the end of the song the end, or their shock when they heard the first Black Sabbath self titled album.

    Jim Morrison just hits differently....He had a dark power to him!

    • @theprinceofcrows8691
      @theprinceofcrows8691 Рік тому +2

      He was authentic and lived the life of a modern day poet thoroughly enmeshed in that period of emotion, turmoil, rebellion, lust, desire for something more fulfilling, experiencing the world with all of the senses, and feeling everything no matter how dark or erotic. He was how he comes across in his music if you read about him and his life. It wasn't an act or a state persona done for effect and it got him in trouble quite a few times. 😂
      He lived life to the absolute fullest with reckless abandon and that made him different and so unbelievably fascinating. He lived like there was no tomorrow and took it all in completely so that he could put it all to paper and make incredible unique music with some incredibly talented musicians that complimented both his style and thirst for life. Someone who lives like that cannot possibly live forever because they live life so fully and with such intensity that it is sure to end like an exploding supernova that lights up the galaxy. You can feel that in his lyrics and hear it in his voice and music without fail. The dark nature of the lyrics and carnal side of the music makes it inescapable on so many levels and helps you lose yourself in it for hours without a moments regret.
      So Jim had something pretty unique and most who try to live like that don't get far before life swallows them up or they flame up into an uncontrollable inferno of their own creation. They burn bright and reach white hot intensity before they flame out completely in a memorable display. Leaving us all amazed and breathless from this display of vitality and that reckless thirst to feel and experience this world. You have probably known someone like that in your life but as far as musicians go it is hard to get to the point where you can get that chance to express that thirst for life and sculpt it into fantastic music that is authentic and genuine. There will never be another Jim Morrison or The Doors. They are as distinct and timeless as the moon or the stars.

One of the most poetic,deep ,intelligent singer's and band of the sixties they will live forever in their music! They are still heard today on most rock stations nationwide. I guarantee you won't be able to say the same about what they call this poor excuse for music today. Even the minor groups of the 60s are better than today's top stars.
