That was the last song recorded by the Doors. After that, Jim fled to Paris to lick his wounds, reinvent his life or some other such thing. We will never know because he met with his end there. He had become our Shaman, our leader that was going to show us how to survive life. But he learned too fast and burned out before he could enlighten any of us. In the 53 years since, I learned to forge my own way, to fight the fights I could win and compromise the fights I could not. I finally realized he had left us the answer, this song. It's 1972, and I am a permantly disabled Veitnam vet. My future brother in law is asleep in the back seat. We are driving his car with 4 almost bald tires, about midnight along Keuka Lake and a massive thunderstorm decends on me. I am only doing 35, so I dont get blown off the road. We are stoned, I turn on the radio and what was playing? You got it! Keuka Lake in in western New York.
The very first time I heard this song play on the radio back in the early '70s, I fell in love with it immediately and has been one of my all-time favorite songs ever since,. It never gets old, just like Jim Morrison....💖
I remember this song like it was yesterday. It gives me goosebumps at certain points in the song and at other points, it's just simply mesmerising. It can't be overstated how great Jim Morrison's vocals were. He died way too young. Truly one of the greatest groups of the sixties. Yeah, the song also reminds me of a certain girl i was in love with at the time.
Jim was long gone before I heard the first Doors song. Obviously not part of my generation but the Doors are on the Mount Rushmore of my favorite bands
Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, John Densmore KLASA SAMA W SOBIE!! Wielki SZACUNEK!!
My favourite Doors track with the thunder & Jim's great voice making this very spooky classic fantastic. & a song I never tire of listening to with a glass of something good & my headphones on.
First, we have to give a bow to Robby Krieger's songwriting ability. He captured an era and the Doors made sure no one would ever forget that something magical happened in the 60s.
Robby Krieger had nothing to do with creating "Riders on the Storm". Jim took the words from an old screen play he had written about a serial killer hitch hiking the highways of America slaughtering families. Ray Manzarek's music was adapted from Ghostriders in the Sky written in 1948 by Stan Jones while he was working as a National Park Ranger and Tour Guide.
@@davidhounslow1304 GGGGGGGGGGreat to hear from you. Thank you for this priceless information. I am a songwriter and when I sing a song somebody else wrote on a video, the lyricist is always mentioned. All we know is that Jim asked the band to go home and create a song for the band to have as a hit when they were getting started. Krieger went home and wrote Light My Fire and that sent the band into fame that has never ended. I am a singer and I have always been inspired from Jim's vocals. Here's me singing Eric's 'Wonderful Tonight' ua-cam.com/video/7ejwpOi3wYI/v-deo.html
Ray rearranged the music of Ghost Riders in the Sky written in 1948 and the words were inspired by a movie script Jim was working on about a serial killer hitchhiking the highways of America killing families. The whole song was a fluke.
@@daveydudely9954 I wonder where Stan Jones got his inspiration back in June 5, 1948 when he wrote Ghost Riders in the Sky. It must have started somewhere.
@@daveydudely9954 Franck Sinatra never claimed he composed a single rif . He did CO write a single song which is obscure. Mickael Jackson's name on every song he sung.

I was 17 in that time, now I am near 70 and this is still one of my favourites.

Certain tracks you can't imagine life without, there sewn into the tapestry of our conscious understanding ❤
Riders Is One Them. Rock On👍🏻🎤🎸
Sewn into the tapestry of our consciousness.........
Perfectly stated, Thank You!
Jim adored Sinatra . That made him the greatest voice I rock🤩
a song and young love ... i hear that 👍🥰
Jim was long gone before I heard the first Doors song. Obviously not part of my generation but the Doors are on the Mount Rushmore of my favorite bands
You mean stolen from the Lakota Nation?
like the, MR thought
His music and songs moved my inner soul
Masterpiece by Jim. Forever Jim 🤟
Jim. Genios
This song is so hauntingly beautiful and the keyboard is amazing
Hello Carolyn
Ray'keeboard was geniuslly..
Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, John Densmore KLASA SAMA W SOBIE!! Wielki SZACUNEK!!
Hats off to whomever edited this video. Absolutely amazing.
Yes
I love this classic. I'm an old man. I like this music😅
We had the best music…..
This was a beautiful compilation of clips to ride along with this timeless piece. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this one! As a boomer, IMO, we had the best most honest music ever!
My favourite Doors track with the thunder & Jim's great voice making this very spooky classic fantastic. & a song I never tire of listening to with a glass of something good & my headphones on.
Always Cranking It Out !!!Heard This The Morning Before Hugo Hit That Afternoon !🎵🎸✌️
We are all riders on the storm it's called life ☘️💗
But not killers on the road❤

Yup yup
The music is just fascinating. What a success! Absolutely amazing.
Did he actually compose and write songs? Sorry, but I very much doubt it. Composers just agreed to share the rights.even half the rights was still very good money.
@@daveydudely9954 Stan Jones was inspired to write Ghost Riders in the Sky while he was sitting around a campfire one night when he worked as a guide for the National Park Service in Death Valley, California.
Arcydzieło muzyczne i tekstowe. Potęga przekazu opisu życia jakie jest w istocie. Bez zbędnych ubarwień i zniekształceń. Ciągła walka o bycie sobą w tym plastikowym swiecie.
❤👍
my wife and I listen to this as we go through Drumochter pass going up to Aviemore, it's so fitting as the pass is always wild weather wise. Dramatic music dramatic scenery.
ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE AND IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES OF WORLD MUSIC

Very good musicians and a very good singer Jim Morrison!!!!!!

EXCELENTE COMENTARIO.
