SAIYN Seminar- Climate Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Development Goals

  • Changes in the climate are disrupting crop production in Bangladesh and around the world. This trend will accelerate as temperatures continue to increase. Without climate smart agricultural adaption, it may difficult to achieve food and nutrition security as well as sustainable development goals. Taking the importance of integrating the smart technology with agriculture in mind to combat climate change, Smart Agro-Technology Innovation Youth Network (SAIYN) at the Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Bangladesh Agricultural University, arranged a virtual seminar on climate smart agriculture and sustainable development goals (SDGs). Professor Dr. Chayan Kumer Saha, Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Bangladesh Agricultural University, gave his valuable lecture on climate smart agriculture techniques and the SDGs. Professor Dr. Monjurul Alam, Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Bangladesh Agricultural University, and the Project Director of Appropriate Scale Mechanization Innovation Hub- ASMIH-Bangladesh was the key discussant. The virtual seminar was taken place on February 1, 2023 Time: 7:00 pm via zoom platform.
    “SAIYN is a knowledge-based learning platform for youths where they can explore and boost their interests on smart and innovative agro-technologies for sustaining agricultural (crop, fisheries and livestock) production, processing and marketing to ensure food- and nutrition security. SAIYN to be a driving force to connect teenagers and youths around the globe to be future leaders in smart and innovative agro-technologies, engage and empower them to nurture their capabilities, and contribute to positive agricultural transformation.” SAIYN is based at the Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
