4:07 Richard almost passes out with enthusiasm for set collection
“...and on top of that!...” lmao At 6:25
I just played Ticket to Ride today and Museum yesterday. All this talk of killers all the time! I prefer Ticket, it has a classic feel to me, whereas Museum feels like a good/very good game with a cool theme and great art, that falls way short of being a classic. But that’s the beauty of Rahdo Runs Through, you can see for yourself! No two people have exactly the same taste!
@9:11 "AMAZE BALLS!" I'll be using this term more often.
Dude, Dutrait killed it here. That paycheck must've been insane. Well deserved. The guy is a monster!
Agreed - amazing stuff.
Vincent Dutrait is my #1 artist in the board gaming industry. period.
He's definitely my favorite. But Menzel is no joke, nor is Roche.
Received my KS copy a few days ago, bloody brilliant game! (and I've not even touched the expansions yet)
5:30 “That’s a big ask.” Had to rewind that part, make sure I didn’t mishear him.
talk about mudflaps!
I'm the kind of dork that definitely likes a Museum theme... especially as I've yet to purchase any archaeology type game. set collection with multiple sets. rahdo diggin' it curator style ! (-: the drafting option not on your turn is cool. ticket to ride killer? wow, did not see that call coming
Hey my friend, it looks good doesn't it? Definitely backing this thing.
"Ticket to Ride Killer"? I wonder if Rahdo still holds that view...
yup, i'd rather play this any day ofthe week over TTR :)
When i realized it's a box full of Dutrait versions of museum pieces... SOLD! Great art... History lessons on each card... if the game is good on top of that's a bonus.
I submit that each time you said, "And on top of that...!", just goes to prove what I commented in the play-thru video, that this is NOT a gateway game. It is complex enough to step it up above the gateway category. One of the metrics I use to judge a game's weight is by how much opportunity there is for "analysis paralysis" (AP). And judging by your play-thru video, this game definitely presents far more opportunities for AP than does the typical gateway game. So I don't think it will be killing Ticket to Ride anytime soon! :)
...
FINALLY... you had me laughing when you said, "Muggles"! So I guess I can summarize my comment by saying that I don't think Muggles are quite ready for this game... not the muggles in my extended family, anyway!
How much AP is there at the end, trying to figure out the best way to lay out your cards?
it can get a bit crunchy but not too bad
Do you think it’s too mean to buy cards out of your opponent’s discard pile? I would imagine it might also add to AP. It would be like being able to buy cards out of your opponents’ discard pile in Dominion.
well, i don't think it's too AP inducing as you see them on their turn discard the card, and you immediately decide whether you want it or not, and hope that it's still there by the time your turn comes around, and if it is, you jump on it because otherwise it will be gone :)
and i don't think it's too mean because if the palyer really cared about that card, they wouldn't have discarded it in the first place
"... too mean..."? If such a move by your opponent falls under the category of "too mean" for you, then... well, I don't know what to say as if you think that's being mean, I now suspect anything I say will be interpreted as offensive.
How does this compare to London 2nd edition? We enjoy that.
both great games with similar "pay cards to play others". one is an engine builder, one is a set collector :)
Do you still like this game after a few years? Thanks
well i only had the prototype, not the final game
How does it compare to Progress: Evolution of Technology ?
they're both great, but it's tough to beat 300 pieces of vincent dutrait art! :)
