    I just discovered you; what a delight! I quilt a lot-but free motion quilting feels beyond me. However, I’m probably paying my longarmer’s monthly mortgage with the money I pay her to quilt my work. She does a fabulous job-but the fees are getting hefty. You have me thinking about free motion quilting again. Thank you!

    Great video, I am not very good at the free motion quilting and your video is a great way to practice. I would love to see more easy free motion quilting ideas that will be easy to practice.
    thank you Rob. Regards Judy Ducrou

    Great video Rob! Think it must take a lot of practice to operate your machine standing up, especially doing straight line quilting!!

    Hi Rob thanks for a great video. I have avoided free motion quilting for fear of messing up. But you gave me the motivation to try. I loved how you didn’t have to be perfect!! Could you do a flower? Just wondering how it would look.

    Rob is one of the best teachers of free motion quilting! He's taught me so much. I use the Machingers gloves and have found them so useful when working on the larger work, like borders and bindings. Really makes it MUCH easier to control the fabric under the needle.
    Thanks, Rob! You are terrific!

    I've mainly done hand quilting; machine quilting has always intimidated me, since it's "supposed" to look perfect. After watching this tutorial, I may try machine quilting again. Nothing fancy like loops or swirls, but I may have a go at straight line. One of my biggest problems the other time I attempted machine quilting was the lack of grip, since I didn't have the gloves. After that literally painful experience, I've shied away from the machine. Thanks for the encouragement, and additional thanks for a highly-entertaining, energetic video! 😺

    Free motion is a good skill to learn and if you’re comfortable it’s great but a walking foot using this method would be much easier and better results for many people.

    I have been putting off quilting my completed ‘My Colourful Town’ quilt because I feel it needs free motion straight lines to highlight so many houses with siding and rooflines. Thank you, this may have given me the steam I need to try it!

    Thank you so much for demonstrating straight line quilting and giving so many tips. I am wanting to try and start quilting on some smaller projects with my domestic machine and this was so helpful. I am fond of the stipple quilting, but open to any types of patterns, such as feathers, or any type of curves. Thanks again Rob!

    Very good information! I've been using a regular foot & stitch in the ditch, unless it's a big quilt, then I take it to my quilter. I've been looking to see if I can purchase a quilting foot to make it easier.

    New at free motion How about just a stem with leaves on each side instead of feathers? Also am I suppose to get notices of your new videos in my email inbox if so I don't get them

    Why make the stitching lines so close? That smashes the stuffing so it isn't a warm quilt. Is it that the choice of stuffing demands that distance? Will it come apart with "blanket" use? I would have gone around once per color section and left some loft in the stuffing.

      No, I left the purple strips untouched, other than sneaking the thread through the seam into another basket weave section.

    • @StitchinHeaven
      @StitchinHeaven  4 місяці тому

      It is best to be comfortable. I really only stand at my domestic while on camera to make the tutorials. I sit at my domestic most of the time, and stand at my long arm.
