Some new Blender features from Ton's holiday of code

There's a lot of cool stuff that Ton committed to trunk, here's just 3 examples.
What I didn't show here yet is something that has been requested for several years now:
Save User Preferences independent from your scene. Startup.blend and User prefs are now separate!

These areas should be developed, not just small tools

Thank God user preferences are now apart from the blend file! I always save some user preferences, and when loading a new file, all materials, animations, objects, etc are there again...

Copy from buffer!! Do you seriously mean that I can copy paste between blendfiles. No need to apend anymore? Can I copy material data to?

Hey Sebastian! Great video! What I really like with new overlap panels (that is not readily apparent in this video) is that they can be composited as half transparent over the 3D view. I like to make the colour darker and lower the alpha for this. The color option can be found under themes->3D view->Region Background. makes for a quite sexy shadowy-transparent panel with opaque buttons only ;).

in 0:40 he quits blender and then restarts blender again and time of restarting the app is only 1 second or so. With cycles it goes to 2 or 3 seconds. Compare with the rest of 3D apps in the world how just incredible blender is starting!!!
