PMU Artist here! The video of the woman getting a foundation facial is what is commonly called BB Glow. It is a serum with pigment in it that is micro needled into the skin. It isn’t makeup, but personally I don’t recommend it because most colors for our faces have titanium dioxide, which can yellow in the sun. Also it only lasts a max of 6 months on most people.
Ohhh thank you for this info! I’ve never understood it when I see it!! 🖤🖤
@@RobertWelsh you’re welcome 🤗
And it sounds gross to put something like that semi-permanent in the skin.
@@francinejones2524Sounds like a potential nightmare.
Why not just do microneedling or vampire facial for a "glow".
WTF is a vampire facial @@Itsunclegabby
"What are you recovering from" is my unintentional look most days. 😂😂😂
That’s my daily feeling… 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
That's going to be the title of my biography.
@@SheilaR.08 😂😂
Girl, same. I love makeup, but I’ve decided I have a makeup learning disability. I am unteachable 😂
Biomedical scientist and aesthetician here! That “foundation facial” is called BB Glow, which originated from South Korea. But I would highly advise against getting it done. They use microneedling to infuse a pigment serum into the skin typically along with hyaluronic acid and vitamins. However, from a scientific standpoint, this technique could lead to some problems related to the immune system’s response, such as increased risk of allergies, contact dermatitis and post-inflammatory pigmentation. In the long term it may also lead to cell damage and cancer. There hasn’t been many studies regarding the safety of BB Glow, specifically in the long run. I believe this technique has NOT been approved by the FDA (and also not in Brazil, which is where I’m from)
I 100% agree, especially considering that most pigments contain titanium dioxide that has high UV absorption that we haven't studied inside living organisms (the particles scatter the light...deeper into dermis) AND nano-particles of it have been proven to be harmful in animals.
@@margodphdnot to mention, titanium dioxide can turn yellow with UV exposure. Have you ever had an old sunscreen get that yellow tinge?
I can’t help but wonder whether or not it could also turn someone’s skin a yellow tinge 😦
TERRIFYING… wow…
The best way to stop concealer creasing at all is to be a mannequin made out of just plastic who can't breathe or move, hope it helps ✌
Try not to crease, then crease anyway.
😂😂😂
Wearing less would be beneficial too.
Marilyn wore so many colours, one of her favourites was actually orange! (i love watching Erin Parsons for historical makeup!) But yeah there are reds for everyone! It's just confidence to wear a bright colour that many people dont believe they have.
And in movies it was Coty in a PINK shade!
Kackie Reviews Beauty did an amazing video on color theory for finding your perfect red lipstick. For most people, the lip color that looks like a true red won't be literal red - it could be mauve, pink, berry, brown, burgundy, or actual red.
I so agree with Robert! No matter your skin colour, skin tone, hair colour or mouth: everyone can wear red! I was always told I could only wear transparent gloss or light pinky-peach as my mouth is quite small (I suit the 20s mouth wise), and I'm very pale. For the longest time, I didn't wear lipstick because of it - I hated that light pink (I was a metalhead, so pink was a no no anyway). Until I turned 25 and thought: Well, EFF that. Started experimenting, and by the time I was 30, I had found & cemented *my shades*. Basically, it's the opposite of the advice I got in the 90s.
I have about 12 red lippies in my makeup drawer, from light to very dark, shiny to satin matte (all blueish though as I'm cool toned and more orangey tones don't suit me). That typical 50s Hollywood red is my favourite. I wear red 80% of the time - the other 20% is shared between a pinkish brown neutral or a plum/berry, which is even darker 😈😝. ( Oh, and one fuchsia 😅). As I often wear 50s-style clothing and on my 'I feel off' days a casual alternative style, these shades suit my fashion preferences perfectly.
She spent ages blending one side and zero on the other do they think we are stupid 😂😂😂
Dude was it just me or did the 20s side look SO BAD?
@@felinemoonchild it did on purpose trying to sell there garbage products
@@nailicious_4_u I don't even understand the point of the video then. 💁♀
@@felinemoonchild to show us how good the make up she is selling is compared to normal make up lmao
@@nailicious_4_u Dude i totally thought she used the same makeup on each eye and was trying to show how you're supposed to do concealer in your 20s vs your 30s. 🤣
I love the subtleties of different lipstick applications through history, so that "100 years of lipstick" just killed me 😂
I remember watching I love Lucy as a kid and noticing how different the the lip line was drawn, so I couldn't help but chuckle when I watched that
It doesn't bother me that she was wrong, it bothered me that she presented it as fact
No research done at all
@@Boooo_39 yes, I love Lucy's lip shape, it's so distinct, and it all comes down to application!
I was just going no, no, no along with Robert.
Right? Like it felt as if she was just putting on different colors of lipstick the exact same way on most of those
I couldn't believe how inaccurate they were! That frustrated me.
What cracks me up when these really young people use SO MUCH concealer is that most have NOTHING to conceal! Thanks for keeping makeup sane, and fun!
Like 10-year-olds using their Drunk Elephant anti-aging routines. 😂
they have a trend of using bronzer to orange out the blue right now and have sent the huge concealer the way of skinny jeans and a side part as something that "ages" you.
@@nivision bronzer to orange out the blue 😳 blue on the cheekbone? I feel so chronically offline nowadays
I remember my 16 year old self putting layers of foundation and powder on already flawless teenager skin!! It didn’t even look good 🤣 but it felt so grown up!!
@@DoritoBot9000How long ago were you 16? Trying to work out if you were in the cohort with me or not only layering foundation on already flawless skin, but having that foundation be at least 3 shades too dark, with more concealer used as a lip colour.

9:48 "it wasn't a circle in the middle of your mouth" 😂😂 idk why that was so funny 🤣

She kept ignoring that most of those looks had a Cupid's bow.
My lipstick in the sixties was frosty white or peach. That was the fad!
Yes! I was thinking same.
I remember my mother saying it made my sister and me look dead 😂.
You all wore white lipstick? That just seems really different
@@emilynordt153 de-emphasizing the mouth made the eyes pop and the 60s was all about the eyes
I'm a Goth, so I love wearing white and black lipstick. The white lipstick really goes with the whole "undead" look!
I really need to thank you Robert because the second the first woman showed that creamy concealer I immediately knew she was from MLM. Thank you for spreading the word!
I swear, the magazines of my youth made me terrified of hitting “35+”. I can still remember the antiquated rules like “Hair past your shoulders after 40 AGES you!”. 🙄
PS - Robert, your makeup, especially your eye shadow, is always fabulous!
Yes, they always sounded to shocked that women were alive at their 40's ahahaha
I am 35 and told myself soon as I turn 30 to grow out my hair because I had all my fun with mohawks head being shaved wild hair and now at 35 my hair is down to my waist looking beautiful.
Like my son who is turning 13 next month tells me yes I am older vut still young and I look young for my age according to my child I really blame my baby face for this lol..
Also glad my aon isn't a jerk instead is a growing up young little man...@@samanthaabreu782
I get told that a lot ( the hair thing). I can sit on my hair because it's long enough, and I love it long. But when I'm at the hairdressers, they're continually saying I should get it cut because I'm "older". Yeah, I'm technically 52, but mentally I'm still around 18. Besides, I like being able to do crazy stuff with my long hair - it goes well with my Goth lifestyle. So I'm not cutting it for anyone!
Yes! The magazines! The PTSD! Cut off all your hair at 40 and have a perm! Anything else WILL age you and you will look like mutton dressed as lamb!
Yet in reality short hair ages you
How awesome is it that (I assume) most of us have seen the highly lauded “Historically Accurate Makeup” series in the twins’ channel, but we 100% still trust that Robert knows his lipstick history! This is a master class in authentically building professional trust while still expressing humor & silliness!
"what are you recovering from?" had me gasping
The sass is never far from the surface. I love you.

This eye make up look is insane! It looks iridescent, the colour combo is so beautiful!!!
Very rarely do people get the make up right for the 1920's-1960’s. The lip style from the 1920’s was called the "Bee stung" lip look.
I don't even think she hit 80s especially well. Fuschia colour, yes, but the consistency/finish didn't look right to me. My first lipstick as a child was 80s fuschia. My second was also 80s fuschia. One was frosted, the other colour-changing. Neither was a super hydrating, creamy formulation.
@@kham9529 Exactly. I grew up in the 1980’s and so on, and used to try on my older sisters and mothers make up. Make up then was more cool undertones. Really no such thing as neutral, warm and so on.
I found out recently that Marilyn Monroe's signature red lip was actually several products, and one of her favorite lipsticks was extremely orange toned. Super interesting!
Or Coty Pinks
Erin Parsons has a video from last year about one of Marilyn's coral lipsticks.
It was 5 different tones and she only used a lipstick brush to apply it strategically. She also used 3 shades of eyeliner. Marilyn Monroe understood makeup. I had a friend back in secondary school in the 90s who was obsessed with that look. She still wears it.
"he looks like, What are you recovering from?" 😂💜😂
From Robert's best baking (much applause on the vinegar pie, was well impressed) to Robert's worst baking; under eyes! What a time to be alive and we love it

When someone "I don't mean to be or sound rude" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 "he looks ill" LOL gotta love it
THE EYES Mr Welsh! The colours used for today’s look is the closest to perfection I have ever seen! Be still my little mermaid heart.
Ooh teal and purple my favorite colors!!
Same!
sameeee twinsies!
As a person born in the 60’s I can say that lipstick thing was completely wrong!
They had that poor girl at the end looking like Fiona! 😭
Wow, beautiful eye makeup Robert! My favourite colours 😁
As a 49 year old who still loves to experiment with makeup, I love that you stand up for those of us who don’t want or need to change what works for us because we’ve hit some arbitrary age (and I knew that was Seint as soon as she started dotting the concealer like that on her face)!
I love a red lip too, and believe everyone can wear red. It’s just finding the right shade - I suit blue toned reds and deep reds, and I like the contrast between a dark red and my pale ghostly skin lol! I went through a phase of only wearing red lipstick for a while, but I am trying to change it up a bit these days
💜💜💜
1980s: I know the hot pink was popular with grown women, but I tried to wear it in high school & got mocked for being old fashioned. It was all kissing potion, vintage balm tins, & stiff sprayed hair stuck to our lips.
Oh yes. The hair spackle, so convenient and flattering on everyone 😂
1960s lip should have been a frosty pink 😝
The 2000s lipstick should have been metallic lol
Man I hate that "At 35+ you must give up all fun things and BE AN ADULT" mentality.
Like no at 30 I dyed my hair purple for the first time BECAUSE I COULD. I had the money and time and means to do it. As a kid my folks NEVER would've let me do that and in my 20s I didn't really have the money to spare or a job where I could do such a thing.
As long as it's not literally harming others and isn't going to get you fired - do whatever the hell you want if it makes you happy!
hahaha the crossover i never thought would happen! the last one with the green makeup is a Mexican creator and he's really funny
Love a red lip! I watched another person talk about color theory and how she could wear a non-red (more mauve) and because of the color of her natural lips, the mauve/red ended up looking red. It was really interesting to learn about color theory.
I know exactly which video you’re talking about! I have it saved to try out her technique to find “my” red!
@@NachaBeez Ooh do you remember the name of the creator? That sounds so interesting!
@@afroqueen698 Kackie Reviews Beauty - it's part of her series on makeup color theory
I’m mesmerised by the eyeshadow, the makeup, be everything. Wow. The colours are beautifully diffused
I particularly love the shading under the eye! Perfection! 🎉💙💜
13:55 “and it looks like what are you recovering from?” 😭
I screamed
My lashes are curled up and my lids are hooded, so the end result is that my lashes are practically lying on my lids. I can't do my mascara without creating a big mess, so that hack is a must for me.
All I could think while watching that was that the overkill with the mascara was obviously stupid... but I now have a way to keep mascara off my hooded lids. 🥹
Same. Also, the action of flattening my lashes against the paper while putting on mascara separates and evenly coats them without my having to do other steps. It's like when someone uses a brush and foils to highlight or bleach their hair. To me, it's pretty obvious this flattening effect is why they made the clip.
Poor girl, she go in, looking like Glinda and came out as Elphaba from Wicked. 😂😂😂
Tha 100 years of lipstick was so wrong and all I could think about is how Besame Cosmetics literally has a vintage lipstick for every decade
The cases for the lipstick looked the same, I think she was doing an advertisement for a brand and was trying to be clever.
Unfortunately, just kind of sloppy imo. I'm just speculating though.
Why did the crease speech make me think of Cassandra from doctor who?🤣🤣🤣
Moisturize me!!!
@@Feynix4 I knew someone would get it eventually 😆
I love that Robert spotted the mlm as soon as the vid started. I also clocked that 😂😂

Can’t believe I just saw a Mex comedian from my home town on Robert Welsh’s channel! Andres Johnson ❤🇲🇽
Im 35 and i have way more fun now than i ever did in my 20s. I think i just dont care what people think so i do what i want. Lol
I didn't even know how to apply makeup in my early 20s, I don't think I started until I was 27
I haven't had much time or heart to do makeup for over a year now, but Robert's eye look in this video makes me want to go rummage around to see if I have those colors and play!
That 1920’s Betty Boop lip!!!😂
OMG! I'm dying, I would NEVER expect to see Andrés in one of your videos hahahahaha those kind of videos are really popular in here bc people want to become viral, they know that's horrible and even in some they edited it to look even worse. Kisses from México!!
I used to wear a red lip pretty frequently, and would have people say how much they loved it and wished they could pull it off/red “looks terrible” on them. I’d always tell them wearing a red lip has little to do with what you look like, but more about your attitude. Marilyn definitely had the aura to wear a strong red lip. Hope I inspired more people to break outside of their box with makeup 🖤🖤
i LOVE the blush draping u have going on rn
Robert's smile always makes me smile too. He's also so funny. 💜
Yay! I love Sundays because I actually get a chance to watch you! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Great video. The last video was horrendous. I did not know that about reds. I didnt think I could wear them either. I may try now.
I legit read the video title :What are they doing to their feces?. And I was so shocked , thank God I'm dumb 😬

Hi Robert could you do a review on the clip on magnetic lashes? I love doing a full face everyday but I’ve noticed that strip lashes have been damaging my lashes, love you💞💞💞
I have never worn red lipstick. It always made me feel like I was trying too hard or something- lol. Now I’m in my 50’s- and wondering if maybe I should change my attitude and pop on a bright red lip- elementary teacher or not…the kids won’t know who I am. 💋💄
Give it a try! It can be great fun.
And if you end up not liking it after all nothing has been lost.
Don't forget if you're wearing pink, you're wearing red. It's just a different saturation. So maybe you've been wearing red all this time.
I saw yesterday, as it popped up in my feed , that your(4 y/o) vid reacting to a John McLean tutorial, has had over 1 million views ! Quite incredible, and still an absolute delight to watch 💕💕

If it ever sort of fits into a video, could you look at the L’Oréal Paris panorama mascara. I absolutely love it but i find it so so difficult to remove that I dread using it. Maybe there is something I’m missing. It looks so good when it’s on but based on removing it I’m thinking of not buying it again. Love your videos!
I'm having the same problem with Maybelline Sky High!
As soon as I saw the pan in the first one I was like, "Example! Example!!" lol

The beautiful thing about learning color & light theory is that we can tweak our makeup daily if we like to suit what our face is doing & the look we desire. I never watch mature skin tutorials anymore, I just notice what works & upgrade as needed. Also Laura gellar lol, but that makeup is all about subtle & natural use of…color & light theory!

True, pure, red turns fuschia on me. Red orange turns true red on me. And I met someone in the drugstore lipstick aisle who red-orange shifted to “construction orange” on her. All depends on your natural lip color and the finished lip color you are planning for. Really annoying when you buy a gorgeous lip color and it shifts on you.
Hello you beautiful human !! 🤗💜

We seem to think that wrinkles need MORE makeup but I feel like the opposite is true. You can’t hide them, but too many layers will accentuate them.

Happy Sunday Robert. Great content as usual. ♥️☮️🖤
I know it's past the 1 hour commenting period, apologies, I'm trying to be considerate of the comment section, but I've been in bed sick. I just wanted to say thank you for commenting on that 100 years of lipstick video, and for pointing out that no the lipstick style in the 1920s was not simply drawing an oval in the middle of your lips and being done. I tend to history bound in the 1910s and 1920s eras, and whilst the 1920s 'bee stung' look might look simple enough to do it actually takes a bit of practice to get right (something I'm getting better at, but definitely still working on myself). Erin Parsons has a great video on the 'thumb print technique' that shows how a classic 1920s lip should look, I highly recommend people check out her channel. In terms of the colour this person chose, it's actually not too far off a colour lipstick that did actually exist in the 1920s, it just needs more of a rust or brownish undertone to it.
Yes thank you about “mature” skin. It’s not like you wake up at 35 with new skin. My skin changed drastically after roaccutane and then again after I had kids. I know it’ll change more in my life. And it’s not a bad thing!!
