I've noticed a recent trend with some of these popular roblox games (blade ball) having dedicated servers to afk in, which just exploits Roblox's algorithm into recommending them further and stealing the spotlight from games that deserve it. It also exploits premium payouts.
Fr, the game is literally built around gamepasses, robux, and ways to exploit the algorithm so more people can join the game and buy more micro transactions. Even tho it’s pretty fun it’s basically just a money farm
Not only was this video incredibly informative and entertaining, it did NOT last 15 minutes for no reason! You could have stretched it endlessly like any other youtuber, but you chose not to. Thank you SO much
The genre filter was probably one of the best ways to find content that you were interested in... but they removed it back on October 26, 2017. However, the feature could have a return in the future since a Roblox Staff member mentioned it in a reply from a dev forum back on March 11 of this year.
I must say, this is mostly an issue roblox can rapidly ammend. For example,in metaverse champions and past egg hunts there was a vast amount of games thattl weren't very popular which were very high quality, some of which i still play to this day and many games purely due to these events are still fairly popular and get frequent updates.
@@lastwayytYeah i kind of just phrased it poorly its the player count that counts and how much robux the game makes as long as theres a cash cow like pet simulator x trending modern roblox doesn't care about what players play
So basically in simpler terms, Roblox makes an event and has the small games take part in it. People who wanna complete the event and play the game, they find out its fire and the game blows up.
Roblox could easily fix this by setting up an algorithm that caters to the individual player like other social media platforms, so people who genuinely enjoy these passion-made and interesting games can better find these smaller games. It's not as great as other solutions but in my opinion and experience, it's much better to attract people who genuinely enjoy the genre rather than just any random 9 year old.
Ah, but you see; Then ROBLOX makes less money. Take the closed community and anime game community, some of the best these types of games have to offer are not microtransaction heavy in the slightest Those won't make them as much money as Adopt me, Brookhaven RP cause little kids dont understand them. Why cater to the less profitable and objectively smaller audiences who knows better than to ask mom for 40 bucks for Infinity in blade ball, when you can appeal to the stupider audience who doesn't, right~?
@@swavii4337 Roblox will make less money, that is precisely the point! Down with the rich! All seriousness though, I'm not sure if there'd be a solution without sacrificing money or underrated game visibility unless they maybe made specific categories to cater to those games (coming never).
Thats why here is a "recommended for you" section for games, however it still uses the same algorithm that is looking for games that 1. have a high engagement. 2. have a high retention rate and 3. have a high revenue rate. It does not take into consideration what type of genre you play the most though. It only considers the fact that you have played those types of games before, even though you might have only played them for like 5 minutes.
I’ve had this exact question for such a long time and it genuinely sucks that some developers put so much effort and time and money just to never get the success that they deserve just because they don’t appeal to the major audiences
as someone who joined Roblox in around 2016, watching a the platform crumble was devastating to say the least. it makes me upset that so many underrated games get thrown under the bus, one of my favorites being Dummy’s vs Noobs. it’s the only game I really actively play now, as it has very good replay ability. it’s a difficult wave based co-op shooter, so maybe you should check it out if your bored some time.
I started playing this game because at first I thought it would be a PvP game full of microtransactions but I played it again and realized it was completely the opposite, the NPCs are challenging but it's good
If your a military guy and a navy guy too then Dead Ahead is a great game. It takes place in an alternate universe where 2 nations, The Anteres Imperium and The Orion Republic are at war and you are a crewman stationed at sea with a bunch of other people. Really cool game with a bunch of game modes and cool mechanics.
As a solo game developer, most of the visits and revenue come from my friends that know about the game, sure it might not get visits, but it's satisfying enough seeing how people like the work I spend so much time on.
I think one of the most important things are updates and tutorials. If the game is not updating much, or it takes long for it to update - people will leave and play something else until the game updates. Or the lack of the tutorial, if the game looks too hard to play with unexplained controls, newer players probably would leave. The best example of these 2 reasons is the game called HOURS, it is discontinued, and has little to no tutorials. Also following the reason you gave called "microtransactions" where more gamepasses = more players, this game in particular has only 2 gamepasses and only 1 of them unlocks literally the other half of the game, the other one is just a donation. Edit: Playing some older games i played, i found one that will keep my attention endlessly, which is Survive The Night (STN for short ) the game is basically hide and seek, except theres dozens of action. It has everything you mentioned: Competitiveness, multiple microtransactions and others. However, the game has max ~500 - ~200 players online in it, it used to have 3k or 1k. The reason to me is unknown, maybe its because it could be boring but yet still even after you died you can still play the game as a ghost with their unique abilities. One of the reasons might be is the game is way too sound reliant, like hearing breathing, heartbeat or footsteps. So yeah, + 1 game into this list. Edit 2: Have you ever played tower defense games? Maybe TDS or tower battles? Theres 1 game which had 500 players active and more, but now its forgotten. The game is Tower Defenders ( or Realm Rush ). The reason why it is not being played is the difficulty of being a solo player. While playing solo, you can only get 3 tower slots and 1 ability slot, but while being a co-op player, you can get max tower and ability slots. Other than that, there's a unique PvP mode, where you xan send in-game enemies to fight eachother with another team, basically Plants VS zombies except its zombie only, it has a lot of microtransactions, like dreamshards ( the main currency of the game ), some gamepasses and meme towers. Solely the reason why its not being played like it was before is the tower slots and ability slots problem i said before.
figuring out how things work in HOURS isnt that hard after a hot minute because the game gave you descriptions of key binds, moves, unlock requirements, except for some easter eggs
I loved to play a game called Warlords and I still do play it. It is a game where each player leads squad of units in a 3v3, 4v4, or, 5v5. The game used to have ~1.5k players in 2022 but now the player count is very low and hovers around 50-100 players rn because of problems like: 1: The game has no tutorial, it just jumps straight in. It took me a half day to figure out with no help. 2: I consider this a good feature but there are no gamepasses that benifit the players except for buying in game money which is a horrible conversion, 500 robux for 1,000 gold. 3: It takes especially long for new players to win matches and get enough money for better units as the beginner units suck and the grind for good units usually takes dozens of matches that last 3-15 minutes depending on the map and how good your team is. 4: The skill floor is pretty high as you need to know a lot of mechanics and counters before you start winning so the average roblox player that plays won't be able to understand and play the game properly. 5: Updates takes months to come out and there has not been an update for at least a year now. I don't know if the dev is even active. Yea if you read all of this then thank you for your time Edit: yes I know I posted this twice
It is the sad truth.. Good games get screwed over because Roblox hates actual games because they don't rake in and hook as much players as games that are so damn simple get 1000s of players and the worst about the actually good games is that they are mostly unplayable due to lack of a player base..
Yeah.... Devs with good efforts get washed down with that slop that gave me food poisoning like blade ball is a p2w and a such grinding that means roblox is entering the dark ages that last 5 centuries we have no hope and faith in these games
Great video, like always, there's a video called "Why we let mediocre games succeed and quality projects fail" that goes into a bit more detail, pretty sure most people saw it already but just incase And another thing what are some heavily underrated games that you think people should play (ones that get maybe below 100 players, since tbh most people repeat the same few games if not for the restriction)
- www.roblox.com/games/12548628412/UPDATE-The-Backrooms-Infinite-ALPHA-1-1-2 game in the link genuinely deserves more recognition due to the fact that its so high-quality and over 5 people work on constant updates for it another one i have to mention is www.roblox.com/games/10734740262/Moving-On, an incredibly simple game with a simple concept, yet the story is somewhat touching and captivating, though ofc people wont play it for long i dont have any specific games that people would play for more than 20 minutes, as most of the "underrated" games are made to be played quickly
Shell shock sometimes gets over 100 players, but my god they give the best experience if your wanting to play war games I say, it shows how horrible WW1 was and exact details, like there's poison gas in the game.
I noticed that during the pandemic, most games I know that are underrated spiked in popularity. Games like Project stardust, Dead Ahead, Town and Decaying Winter reached 2k or more players. But nowadays they only have 50+ active players, barely alive.
cause during the pandemic, people who usually had less time to play games, like teenagers and young adults, suddenly had time to play games all day instead of going to school or university. these people choose more mature games, which are usually underrated. meanwhile young children are barely ever busy so they're still 70% of all players, even after the pandemic.
Really great to see Centaura getting featured in these videos, I was able to see Centaura improve with every update from start to finish and I must say it has come really far.
i was just mindlessly searching on roblox for underrated games until i found your channel (the first one that appeared to me) and after just one video i immediately subscribed. The channel is really good and so underrated, honestly i don't think i found a better youtuber who's good at explaining at this short amount of time, keep up the content i think that you'll probably get the attention you need
Another reason is roblox's categories and recommendations. They only recommend people front page games, not one's that they like, which just makes the actually good/underrated games hidden even more. Most of the categories are just repetitive too.
Honestly better recommendation is such a good solution, but I feel like it's difficult even for Roblox right now with how games are classed. Like who even looks at genres that much? Most game just have it on "All genre" and that's about it. If games had tags the way steam does, or if Roblox had the budget to invest into a top tier algorithm like UA-cam does, then there's a great potential, but not with current systems
@@volrox_ with how much people are crying about privacy online nowadays, either we keep the current system or roblox starts collecting data from u and creates a algorithm which will lead to outcry from privacy losers
@@volrox_ I mean roblox does have an algorithm system like youtube. The way a game gets popular is if they have 1. a high retention rate meaning the rate people come back to the game. 2. a high engagement rate meaning people stay in the game a long time and 3. if the game makes robux. Tags can grow your game quite well if you target the right audience.
how does this guy only have 9k subs? this video was exceptionally well made, straight to the point, and has done everything extremely well. definitely a sub lol
There are other underrated games with quite the talent: - Monster Islands (literally made only by one of the three devs of Epic Minigames.) - HOURS (also made by one person, not much but holy shit the game is well made, he's moving to Steam for more potential.) and many more that i'm yet to list.
Vibrant Venture took those footsteps too, awesome game, havent seen much in ROBLOX but the level of improvement from RBLX to Steam and them rn is absolutely incredible
I think there is another reason why games like toilet tower defense or blade ball have a lot of players which is UPDATES, updates bring newer, cooler stuff to the game making it less stale after a while and toilet tower defense or blade ball are games which you don't need a lot of time to update making players stay on the game longer.
NeonKnights is a pretty good roblox rougelike, and the art is really amazing! It's best with friends, but it may get slightly repetitive. Either way, really underrated.
I think NeonKnigts would only counts as rogue lite as a real roguelike basically has little to no progress and every run all you gain is skill and knowledge to improve your future runs. NeonKnights has weapons that you get and can keep for your future runs.
Also reason 4: just straight up popularity, my friend (and some other people) has the mindset of playing only popular games knowing they won’t die out, basically, instead of playing games because they are fun, he plays to get good at the for when the future comes, leaving unpopular and underrated games untouched, he even went as far as saying “if it doesn’t have 100 players (of all things) it’s not worth playing” yet every time I show him an unpopular game he likes it, yet won’t keep playing till it’s more popular
Imagine a world where making money isn’t the sole reason roblox makes games popular, you would be able to find fun and really engaging games in like 2 minutes, imagine being able to see games like robot 64 up there 24-7 it would be a a dream come true.
@@Potings yea i did notice that back when i was watching him, and if they do it for money then i guess it's normal, but all I wanted to do is to just knock some sense into people who say that "POPULAR GAMES JUST GOT LUCKY!!!", so I just wanted to explain the logical/scientific reason behind this popularity. In the first version of this video, I actually did prrovide a real-life example of economy that lasted about a minute but decided to cut it out cuz i thought it was too long for an entertaining video
@@viberbread but most games on the front page aren’t entertaining and they are low effort, copy pastes from games that were actually original and (most of the time) good 😭 on a side note, most games on the front page only got popular because of youtubers so I guess you could say they got lucky :)
fun fact the game on the thumbnail is industrialist kinda fun to progress in it when you know how to play it id reccomend anyone who reads this to play it :)
This all comes down to what Roblox itself does, they could fix all of these problems, yet they have become so corrupted by money that they decide not to. I feel that any one of us watching this video could steer the community in a better direction than Roblox itself is doing right now. Nobody likes Rthro or dynamic faces, and only young children, who can be easily manipulated, play the top page games. We need something new for us who look for quality games, not just for Roblox to make money.
I completely agree with all he states and I really do wish better more enjoyable games could be shown. If you came here for good underrated games I know a few 1 Dummies vs Noobs (Wave based shooter with teammates) 2 Decaying Winter (Same thing as Dummies vs Noobs but with different mechanics and lore) 3 Dead Ahead (A naval game with 2 teams fighting each other) 4 Centaura (I know its a good game never really tried it but I've heard its great) 5 Project Stardust (I think used to cost money but not anymore anyways its a mix of various spaces ships from Halo, Yamato, Starwars etc) 6 StarScape(Really sad honestly it is a awesome game but it died out completely with barely enough players it is a space open world with factions ships etc) 7 Zeppelin Wars ( I guess it can be replaced with airship war but still a very good game. A battle between pirates and police in airships or other veichals to defeat the other ship. 8 AI war Red vs Blue ( A story game that I guess can be considered boring but it is a good mention It is a battle against red AI with Blue Ai allies) 9 The Conquers 3( A RTS game that is held underrated with multiple gametes of caputre the hill or destroying all of the enemy. There's a few I missed cause its been so long but this whole thing just reminded me of soooo much nostalgia and back when I had fun games I liked to play with my friends. Rip Roblox and its current state.
Ive played dummies vs noobs, decaying winter and the conquerors. Its that, conquerors was lacking updates and had way too high or too low of a skill gap depending on what match you choose, decaying winter just got boring, but for me dummies vs noobs was actually the best out of the 3.
theres also a game called blox cards, which was made way back 2014-15, its a combination of pokemon and yu-ghi-oh card plus roblox ogs too. The playerbase only has around 70-100 players average (when you dont count the UGC event) but its VERY underrated. At first its quite complicated even if you played through the tutorial but the more you play the more you get into it (most underrated games are the same to it ofc). Its has a discord server too for tournaments, updates stuff like that.
I played some games that are too underrated and i must say that those have much potential if the devs put alot of effort and love towards to the game their making. Nowadays, when a new game with new mechanic comes out then those who follow will also create the same but with a twist making it repetitive and abusive to the algorithm. I wish roblox can make the algorithm much balance and put a new category where those potential games will be on the list
One aspect you didn’t state is how heavily micro transactions affect the front page placement, the higher up the game the more common/expensive the microtransaction
I think the moderation team is just jealous, However there’s an game called “better discovery” an game is like the discovery page but it had super a lot of underrated games like block tales, regretvator, hours, robot 64. And it even has an genre system where you could choose games based on their genre if you want for some retro old classic games
I think another reason is also just the fact that the mainly younger Roblox audience don't have the technology that can run more demanding Roblox games, because let's be honest, most of the actually good Roblox games that aren't just brain rot do require a better system than just a mid range phone to run well without lag.
this is TECHNICALLY another reason, but its so obscure it practically does not exist: imagine you cant code. so you use obby creator to build a better game, since you know how to use the only form of "coding" there. you manage to make a full game of some sort. but since your game is depending on obby creator, think about it: about three thousand players on obby creator. but like hundreds of thousands obbies to search through. is anyone gonna find your game in obby creator? nope. even if its REALLY good, if you cant get recognition from youtubers, theres no way anyones gonna notice it. summary: if you have to use another roblox game to make your games, the players that can play your game are SEVERELY decreased.
I think the only way to help good games get attention is to talk about it. For example, a game called manufactory, it is a lot like industrialist and it was made by tuning studios but sadly, it was abandoned, maybe from this very reason
I loved to play a game called Warlords and I still do play it. It is a game where each player leads squad of units in a 3v3, 4v4, or, 5v5. I don't know if the dev is even active. Yea if you read all of this then thank you for your time
If you want some good underrated games, here they are: Starbase Starscape Town (by decode unicode) Trenches (the one with the blue guy in the thumbnail) That's all I could think of for now, I'll edit the comment later to add more
Man, we need to feedback roblox to add a underrated games place where the most respected people on roblox can put games on there (games that aren't on the front page)
@@Colors82 verified people, like kreekcraft, sketch, etc. They have a blue ✅ on their name, that means verified (and i said "games that aren't on the front page")
@@Colors82 so just make them put games that aren't theirs, and if they put shitty games on there, you can like vote for the game to dissapear from there
@@Yes...Im_Jess as discussed in the video, the fanbase is mostly children which is why dopamine farm games are on the front page. Those kinds of games wouldn't get enough votes to be removed
Speaking of underrated, YOU are underrated because of your editing skills and youre also teaching us how to find some good shit its sad that the fact you only had 3k subs. Keep up the great work
This game called Industrialist.. its the type of game Roblox should be full of. Fun, u gotta use brain and logic (setting up the systems and the pipes burn my brain) and you LEARN something while having a TON of fun. I always learn somethimg new from that game while having fun
I feel like there's a couple of games that still fit the nature of popular games but still falls in the underrated category. Like Arcane Odyssey for example (I know the game is still in an early state but still) The game is competitive with it's active pvp playerbase and wild build variety. The game isn't boring since there's always something to do (Early game is a bit of a slog but by the time you get to cirrus the game really kicks off and that's assuming you're ONLY doing the story and _never going off track_) Yet this game gets no where near the same level of engagement as something like blade ball. A big factor could be that it's PC only but there has to be something more than that....
Arcane odyssey has amazing gameplay, lots of content, a deep lore/story, an infinitely procedurally generated island outside the main story area, lots of side quest, and really replayable. It also has tips placed strategically everywhere so you will always know the controls. But, there are also many factors for Roblox not to push out the game, thus making it underrated. First, the first part is mediocre, so the player will think the rest is also mediocre and will leave some most likely not join back. If they make it to the first boss, the first boss is way too hard for the average kids on Roblox, so they will also leave and not join back. Secondly, yes it is because it’s only on pc, but it’s also because the age rating is n 13+. Thirdly, the game uses lots of data sending back and forth to the server and client, making the game laggy and people disconnect a lot if they don’t have a good internet connection. Lastly, the game uses too much computer resources. The game runs at 20 fps on my gaming pc on lowest settings sometimes as well as stuttering like crazy. In a more technical aspect, the game uses an average of 3gb of ram, a max of 6gb, and my I had an i7-12700 cpu.
its just world of magic with a different map and storyline, im pretty sure they used most of the source material from wom too theres a billion similar aspects
@@robo4538 no lol. WoM was originally mentioned to be the sequel to Arcane adventures but Vetex (the solo dev) decided the direction the game was headed wasn't ideal so he revamped the game into Arcane Odyssey as the true sequel to Arcane adventures. Currently he's working on the 2nd chapter of the story which, supposedly, will be released later this month or early March.
@@viberbread I hope you don't mind if I make a new channel and do content like you (of course it's not copy I am creative enough). I will just take some editing style like that (inspiration).
not really but don't repeat the same mistake as some dude did. Check staff shitpost of my discord server, i posted video of a person who also got inspired by me, but he bluntly copied the video with his own voiceover. His execution wasn't bad and he has potential, but don't do same stuff as he did
Yet Centaura has me very very engaged. And at least it is not as dead Waterloo at home. So I just hope more players get to play it, and also dead ahead great game too.
there is afk rewards in those popular games which puts them up in recommended. i honestly hate that games like blade ball, clicker games, kibidi defense, pet simulator x or anime games are getting the spotlight, i dont get why those games are fun at all. they are as boring as hell for me, and id rather stay home for a year than play those games. amazing video dude.
I agree my brother defended pet simulator 99 just because it was not *p2w* do I even need to say anything if you don't have any gamepass good luck getting something good and he barely plays anything else the last game I played with him was item asylum
Some underrated roblox games i know! Phighting! Bloxston Mystery Regretevator Untitled Tag game Rampant Find everything (its 250 rbx lmao) Peakdrift Sundowner Bombline Wavedash Hours (sadly discontinued :/ but i heard that its getting a steam remake by the same devs) Brickbattlers (These are the only ones i know for now, also if you know other underrated games, tell me :) ill play it first. This is my opinion btw, nice video!)
Another reason is that 5 years old children dont like to lose, so they wont play truly hard games, one example is decaying winter, i played this game for more then 50 hours but i still am horrible at it, and guess what? That gane has no microtransactions but also has less then 1k players and the game is one of the best games in the plataform
don't spend your time and effort on something that is getting frowned upon by Roblox, add some microtransactions just to make the game interesting and to provide value to Roblox. You don't have to make a game P2W, just make those gamepasses worthy of player's money, and you'll get recognition and player's gratitude for providing actual value for their money
I have literally predicted that in 3 months, he will reach 50,000 subscribers, or 100,000, and this is 79.9% guaranteed because it took him only 1 month for him to reach 5K subscribers. This is insane, dude. Keep this up, and you will be in the star program and in the UA-cam verification program. I’m having full hopes for you since you started out with a video that was well edited, like professionally edited, and this is only your fourth video. I know it, and he will become a successful UA-camr, and it shouldn’t take him a year to get tons of attention. Keep it up and don’t give up on your dreams, like, WTF? You can’t even now underestimate beginners. This is insane.
if you like a PvE based game which has high graphics, hard to fight bosses but all the while fun, and even a special suprise at the end of all the waves, play Defend the Statue. pretty underrated game, but super fun. I highly recommend checking it out
I mean like reborn was popular cuz it was hyped but it died from the lack of new players (cuz it's paid) and the fact that it's in alpha and is really far from complete (vertigo has been in construction for months now)
Despite you being somewhat right I genuinely don't understand how people say games with ~500ccu are "the most underrated stuff ever" when games of the same quality have literally an average of 3 ccu (i'll quote hellreaver arena and untitled fps game here)
Man i love core games and i am playing "Classified Part Underground Facility" a pretty cool core game that its not only: "meltdown" "stall" "wait a century for a dev to join and get freezedown" Theres alot of roles and badges you can get, you rarely get bored and recently i bought almost all gamepasses that game have. And the gamepasses are good+cheap, and i noticed since i bought those gamepasses the game go more hype and it went from 60 maximum people playing to 100 maximum people playing. Im proud that with only 800 robux i made that game get more engagement and players.
I also recommend you play JToH. Basically it is a game where you have to beat towers and unlock zones. You start off with beating ToAST. (The tutorial tower). You would then beat ToA. Then NEAT. (A mini tower. Go to cat therapy to find it.) And then just beat ToM and then you are at ring 2. Towers will be harder there. Yet the mini tower is easier in ring 2. Then find a guide because i am not gonna write more (lol). It is a great game to get better at obbies. But the community is kinda toxic.
Bro. As an roblox developer since 2016 i thought about many reasons why my and other games aint popular in these new years. I have realized earlier some of the Points you mentioned but maybe your right. But still i resist to making a bad game that will be popular. I just need to hit the right spot...
Let's say that, hypothetically, an actually fun and underrated game has simple mechanics but can also have more depth, allowing kids and tryhards to play. While also having no microtransactions. What would happen to it?
@@TheWingedHussar_ it's not necessarily milking, it's just value that you provide to ROBLOX and how they return it to you in form of popularity. You can maintain a pretty good game while also not being hard on prices of your gamepasses, there's alot of psychology involved but if you had a "Starter Pack" for 100 and 199 Robux - people would buy one for 100 much easier, resulting in more sales volume which in turn would provide value to ROBLOX which IN TURN would provide you with popularity
as a player who loves centarua i respect that attribute you show that game is amazing and good because theres realistic graphics gore blood and has a lore which is great thank you
Yeah, I'm like 99% sure that the reason 'Underrated' games aren't played as much is because of the player base. A lot of Roblox is people under 12, and the underrated games may be age restricted, or just not interesting to the ADHD, tiktok scrolling fanatic, 10 year old who plays this game.
@@weirdguylol what was 13 in our generation is not the same, today's 13 y.o. scroll on social media forever as well since parents just buy them the newest iphone, so confusing honestly
I’m surprised no one has recommended “Find Everything” it’s a platformer about finding…… well everything. One of the devs is the main creator of Super Bomb Survival and Super Doomspire, both of which being very good Roblox games imo. So I tried it and I had a BLAST with this game also. It costs 250 robux but trust me, it is worth it, please buy it
ima drop a mini review.Find Everything is filled with hours worth of content especially with it not being complete and i feel like it needs more love on the platform.
The fact that all of this is true is crazy like money is what roblox wants and money roblox get. So to help people to actually play good games I will list down my personal favorite criminally underrated games. 1.Critical strike 2.Hours. 3.Phighting. 4.Guns Galore. 5.Industrialist. 6.Combat Initiation 7.Alternate Battlegrounds. Now I will explain why I chose these games to be on this list. First up Critical strike, Critical strike is a unique game where you choose ur character from different classes such as Brawler, Assassin, Marksman, Burst, Support, Special, and Unique types the characters dont require any microtransactions as there are no gamepasses in the game which is nice. U get more characters by getting points points can be acquired via winning, killing players, or getting assists. I don't wanna go in detail of every game one my list because that will make this too long so I suggest you guys to play them and experience the fun first hand.
GUYS HERE ARE SOME AWESOME GAMES THAT MAINLY PLAY ON VISUALS BUT ARE REALLY GOOD AND YOU SHOULD PLAY: -How’s your day: connect update-This game is about you working at a coffee shop, where you serve others. Some people will come up to you and tell them (only urged by you) what’s going on in their life and they’ll vent to you. (Not to you though) You give them advice on what to do. The things they tell you can be relatable so the good thing about that is that your in-game self can tell them and yourself advice that you gonna be ok. -Life as an Otaku: This game is one of those play once games but it’s still really fun. You play as the main character (Otaku) who has moved into his parent’s house because they had just passed away. As you play you wonder around the house (which is extremely pretty) and fix stuff up while Otaku’s story is revealed. (It’s kinda sad actually) -Prototype: Prototype is a game where you are a tester of the developer’s game. He gets you to do random things like talk to NPC’s, do parkour courses, ect. The NPC warns you to leave because he has been trapped in the game. You can get one of two endings: You do everything the developer says OR the NPC tricks you into taking his place -10.6 (Phycological horror game) : this game is about the main character, (I forgot her name) who is looking for her friend named Ben. She searches her house where she gets her friends to help her out. That’s all I’ll say there. -A stereotypical obby: I don’t know how to explain this one… just play it. And make sure you play to the end :) Hope you enjoy my recommendations! If you don’t want to read all of it you can just read the first words which tells you the name of the game :)
First reason is the most important reason according to me, games like brookhsven, adopt me, blade vall is so easy to play but some underrated games are complicated and takes time to learn the mechanics of the game but little kids dont want that they quit after 5 mins if they cant play it

I've noticed a recent trend with some of these popular roblox games (blade ball) having dedicated servers to afk in, which just exploits Roblox's algorithm into recommending them further and stealing the spotlight from games that deserve it. It also exploits premium payouts.
that is true
yep
Not to mention people are dumb enough to spend 10,000+ robux for cosmetics
Fr, the game is literally built around gamepasses, robux, and ways to exploit the algorithm so more people can join the game and buy more micro transactions. Even tho it’s pretty fun it’s basically just a money farm
And if i were a roblox mod i would ban blade ball for being hot garbage and get away with it for how terrible roblox moderation
Not only was this video incredibly informative and entertaining, it did NOT last 15 minutes for no reason!

The genre filter was probably one of the best ways to find content that you were interested in... but they removed it back on October 26, 2017. However, the feature could have a return in the future since a Roblox Staff member mentioned it in a reply from a dev forum back on March 11 of this year.
Why was it removed?

I must say, this is mostly an issue roblox can rapidly ammend. For example,in metaverse champions and past egg hunts there was a vast amount of games thattl weren't very popular which were very high quality, some of which i still play to this day and many games purely due to these events are still fairly popular and get frequent updates.
2016 egg hunt?
In the eyes of the Roblox CEO what's happening is not an issue.
A
Roblox could easily fix this by setting up an algorithm that caters to the individual player like other social media platforms, so people who genuinely enjoy these passion-made and interesting games can better find these smaller games.
It's not as great as other solutions but in my opinion and experience, it's much better to attract people who genuinely enjoy the genre rather than just any random 9 year old.
Ah, but you see; Then ROBLOX makes less money. Take the closed community and anime game community, some of the best these types of games have to offer are not microtransaction heavy in the slightest
Those won't make them as much money as Adopt me, Brookhaven RP cause little kids dont understand them.
@@swavii4337but wouldn't the idiot kids get recommended more shitty microstransaction games?
Thats why here is a "recommended for you" section for games, however it still uses the same algorithm that is looking for games that 1. have a high engagement. 2. have a high retention rate and 3. have a high revenue rate. It does not take into consideration what type of genre you play the most though. It only considers the fact that you have played those types of games before, even though you might have only played them for like 5 minutes.
There used to be a section which told you which games are what genre or whatever but dumbfuck roblox removed it
I’ve had this exact question for such a long time and it genuinely sucks that some developers put so much effort and time and money just to never get the success that they deserve just because they don’t appeal to the major audiences
as someone who joined Roblox in around 2016, watching a the platform crumble was devastating to say the least. it makes me upset that so many underrated games get thrown under the bus, one of my favorites being Dummy’s vs Noobs. it’s the only game I really actively play now, as it has very good replay ability. it’s a difficult wave based co-op shooter, so maybe you should check it out if your bored some time.

Hours man, I loved that game
It got SOME updates, but yeah it really fell off to me
was waiting for someone to mention hours, it's a great game but it doesnt appeal to most roblox players now
figuring out how things work in HOURS isnt that hard after a hot minute because the game gave you descriptions of key binds, moves, unlock requirements, except for some easter eggs
One of the frist roguelikes i've ever played, and made me love the genre
I loved to play a game called Warlords and I still do play it. It is a game where each player leads squad of units in a 3v3, 4v4, or, 5v5. The game used to have ~1.5k players in 2022 but now the player count is very low and hovers around 50-100 players rn because of problems like:
1: The game has no tutorial, it just jumps straight in.
Yea if you read all of this then thank you for your time
Edit: yes I know I posted this twice
It is the sad truth..
Good games get screwed over because Roblox hates actual games because they don't rake in and hook as much players as games that are so damn simple get 1000s of players
and the worst about the actually good games is that they are mostly unplayable due to lack of a player base..
Like Blue Heater as example
why a lot of games stay popular so everyone's playing it so I should do to
Yeah.... Devs with good efforts get washed down with that slop that gave me food poisoning like blade ball is a p2w and a such grinding that means roblox is entering the dark ages that last 5 centuries we have no hope and faith in these games
Great video, like always, there's a video called "Why we let mediocre games succeed and quality projects fail" that goes into a bit more detail, pretty sure most people saw it already but just incase
And another thing what are some heavily underrated games that you think people should play (ones that get maybe below 100 players, since tbh most people repeat the same few games if not for the restriction)

cause during the pandemic, people who usually had less time to play games, like teenagers and young adults, suddenly had time to play games all day instead of going to school or university. these people choose more mature games, which are usually underrated. meanwhile young children are barely ever busy so they're still 70% of all players, even after the pandemic.

If games had tags the way steam does, or if Roblox had the budget to invest into a top tier algorithm like UA-cam does, then there's a great potential, but not with current systems
counter argument; home page recommended tab
@@volrox_ with how much people are crying about privacy online nowadays, either we keep the current system or roblox starts collecting data from u and creates a algorithm which will lead to outcry from privacy losers
@@keenico7730the home page recommended tab is the exact same dawg
@@volrox_ I mean roblox does have an algorithm system like youtube. The way a game gets popular is if they have 1. a high retention rate meaning the rate people come back to the game. 2. a high engagement rate meaning people stay in the game a long time and 3. if the game makes robux. Tags can grow your game quite well if you target the right audience.

very true, absolute gem of a game
I think there is another reason why games like toilet tower defense or blade ball have a lot of players which is UPDATES, updates bring newer, cooler stuff to the game making it less stale after a while and toilet tower defense or blade ball are games which you don't need a lot of time to update making players stay on the game longer.
Playing industrialist is fun and a bit addictive
BUT I LOVE IT
NeonKnights is a pretty good roblox rougelike, and the art is really amazing!
@laddaleangthong2684
Ah, well thanks for the correction
I don't do Rougelikes or Rougelikes usually, so I'm not exactly knowledgeable
Also reason 4: just straight up popularity, my friend (and some other people) has the mindset of playing only popular games knowing they won’t die out, basically, instead of playing games because they are fun, he plays to get good at the for when the future comes, leaving unpopular and underrated games untouched, he even went as far as saying “if it doesn’t have 100 players (of all things) it’s not worth playing” yet every time I show him an unpopular game he likes it, yet won’t keep playing till it’s more popular
Imagine a world where making money isn’t the sole reason roblox makes games popular, you would be able to find fun and really engaging games in like 2 minutes, imagine being able to see games like robot 64 up there 24-7 it would be a a dream come true.

fun fact the game on the thumbnail is industrialist kinda fun to progress in it when you know how to play it id reccomend anyone who reads this to play it :)
If you came here for good underrated games I know a few
1 Dummies vs Noobs (Wave based shooter with teammates)
2 Decaying Winter (Same thing as Dummies vs Noobs but with different mechanics and lore)
3 Dead Ahead (A naval game with 2 teams fighting each other)
4 Centaura (I know its a good game never really tried it but I've heard its great)
5 Project Stardust (I think used to cost money but not anymore anyways its a mix of various spaces ships from Halo, Yamato, Starwars etc)
6 StarScape(Really sad honestly it is a awesome game but it died out completely with barely enough players it is a space open world with factions ships etc)
7 Zeppelin Wars ( I guess it can be replaced with airship war but still a very good game. A battle between pirates and police in airships or other veichals to defeat the other ship.
8 AI war Red vs Blue ( A story game that I guess can be considered boring but it is a good mention It is a battle against red AI with Blue Ai allies)
9 The Conquers 3( A RTS game that is held underrated with multiple gametes of caputre the hill or destroying all of the enemy.
There's a few I missed cause its been so long but this whole thing just reminded me of soooo much nostalgia and back when I had fun games I liked to play with my friends. Rip Roblox and its current state.

theres also a game called blox cards, which was made way back 2014-15, its a combination of pokemon and yu-ghi-oh card plus roblox ogs too. At first its quite complicated even if you played through the tutorial but the more you play the more you get into it (most underrated games are the same to it ofc). Its has a discord server too for tournaments, updates stuff like that.
"i havent tried it but i heard its good"

Honestly just enjoy any game you want to play. But I do want games that have a lot of effort into them but don’t get noticed to be seen.
I played some games that are too underrated and i must say that those have much potential if the devs put alot of effort and love towards to the game their making. Nowadays, when a new game with new mechanic comes out then those who follow will also create the same but with a twist making it repetitive and abusive to the algorithm. I wish roblox can make the algorithm much balance and put a new category where those potential games will be on the list
did I ever tell you the defenition of insanity? opening the main roblox page over and over again, expecting a different outcome, thats insanity

Centaura was a real gem to find
Ultra quality Channel and videos idk why only 4.12k subs Keep it up my man!
this is TECHNICALLY another reason, but its so obscure it practically does not exist:
imagine you cant code.
so you use obby creator to build a better game, since you know how to use the only form of "coding" there.
you manage to make a full game of some sort.
but since your game is depending on obby creator, think about it: about three thousand players on obby creator.
but like hundreds of thousands obbies to search through.
is anyone gonna find your game in obby creator? nope.
even if its REALLY good, if you cant get recognition from youtubers, theres no way anyones gonna notice it.
summary: if you have to use another roblox game to make your games, the players that can play your game are SEVERELY decreased.
I think the only way to help good games get attention is to talk about it. For example, a game called manufactory, it is a lot like industrialist and it was made by tuning studios but sadly, it was abandoned, maybe from this very reason
The games I would recommend are

I feel like there's a couple of games that still fit the nature of popular games but still falls in the underrated category.
Like Arcane Odyssey for example (I know the game is still in an early state but still)
The game is competitive with it's active pvp playerbase and wild build variety.
The game isn't boring since there's always something to do
(Early game is a bit of a slog but by the time you get to cirrus the game really kicks off and that's assuming you're ONLY doing the story and _never going off track_)
Yet this game gets no where near the same level of engagement as something like blade ball.
@@robo4538 yeah. Probably because it's literally the revamp of WoM.
@@marschallblucher6197 oh i didnt know that, i thought that it was just some money hungry repaste the devs did
@@robo4538 no lol. WoM was originally mentioned to be the sequel to Arcane adventures but Vetex (the solo dev) decided the direction the game was headed wasn't ideal so he revamped the game into Arcane Odyssey as the true sequel to Arcane adventures.
Currently he's working on the 2nd chapter of the story which, supposedly, will be released later this month or early March.
the game on the right side of the thumbnail is *industrialist*
industrialist is a factory building game so play it if you like that type of games
here what we called *quality content*
here's what we call an og youtuber
@@viberbread I hope you don't mind if I make a new channel and do content like you (of course it's not copy I am creative enough). I will just take some editing style like that (inspiration).
not really but don't repeat the same mistake as some dude did. Check staff shitpost of my discord server, i posted video of a person who also got inspired by me, but he bluntly copied the video with his own voiceover. His execution wasn't bad and he has potential, but don't do same stuff as he did
this video is so true, mech warzone used to be popular back then and now it only gets rarely 100 players
I find it funny that at timecode 3:44 he expresses gratitude to subscribers and someone writes “bro, you just stole a video from a Russian UA-camr”
industrialist mentioned, brain neurons activated
Yet Centaura has me very very engaged. And at least it is not as dead Waterloo at home. So I just hope more players get to play it, and also dead ahead great game too.
I like Centaura underrated games kinda have strong but small community’s
Totally true. The lore is fire too. I think that with some luck centaura will blow up considering the big amounts of videos it has @@Robert-t8b6v
I don’t think he mentioned it in the vid, but the game in the title is called industrialist, it’s actually pretty fun.
there is afk rewards in those popular games which puts them up in recommended. i honestly hate that games like blade ball, clicker games, kibidi defense, pet simulator x or anime games are getting the spotlight, i dont get why those games are fun at all. they are as boring as hell for me, and id rather stay home for a year than play those games. amazing video dude.
I agree my brother defended pet simulator 99 just because it was not *p2w* do I even need to say anything if you don't have any gamepass good luck getting something good and he barely plays anything else the last game I played with him was item asylum
this is exactly why i haven't checked the front page games in a literal year
Industrialist mentioned😮😮😮😮😮
Some underrated roblox games i know!
Phighting!
Bloxston Mystery
Regretevator
Untitled Tag game
Rampant
Find everything (its 250 rbx lmao)
Peakdrift
Sundowner
Bombline
Wavedash
Hours (sadly discontinued :/ but i heard that its getting a steam remake by the same devs)
Brickbattlers
(These are the only ones i know for now, also if you know other underrated games, tell me :) ill play it first.
I like this types of videos, short and informative. Easy to understand. Thank you so much.
I'm working on my own game rn and I (unfortunately) know its unlikely to succeed because it won't have micro-transactions.
Gl bro
yeah good luck also im starting to learn code and am planning to make my own game one day@@RedRiotRBLX
don't spend your time and effort on something that is getting frowned upon by Roblox, add some microtransactions just to make the game interesting and to provide value to Roblox. You don't have to make a game P2W, just make those gamepasses worthy of player's money, and you'll get recognition and player's gratitude for providing actual value for their money
make like, 4 donation gamepasses , 5, 10, 50, 100
I found this game where you have like 3 abilities and each time you die they switch up and it was mad fun
This is insane.
remember - this ain't luck, this is 3 years of suffering and experience gaining
@@VibeRBLX ok lil bro
and thanks for this comment, i appreciate it 🔥
Feel like the situation you're in rn, it keep recommand old videos and not your video, you're underated, you deserver 100k fr
yeah industrialist is very good but like 80% of the roblox community is dumb so they dont understand how to play it so they say its bad
Truly an underrated youtuber
if you like a PvE based game which has high graphics, hard to fight bosses but all the while fun, and even a special suprise at the end of all the waves, play Defend the Statue.
pretty underrated game, but super fun. I highly recommend checking it out
Add Dummies Vs. Noobs to the list, both are good.
DEFEND THE STATUE MENTIONED
Theres a game called The Flappy Men which is pretty underrated even though it seems like a game that could become very poular
Eu conheço alguns jogos bons que algumas pessoas(não todos) não conhecem, é queria recomendar pra vocês:
RogueLikes:
Hours
Randonly Generated Droids
Sobrevivência:
When the (sim, esse é o nome)
Survive bomb disaster
Survive disaster 2
Prop Hunt:
Dingus
(Só tem esse, mas eu ainda recomendo)
Simulator:
*NÃO EXISTE*
PvP:
Item Asylum
Death Ball(não confundir com Blade Ball)
Se houverem mais me recomendem também(se eu conseguir jogar há pelo menos 15 fps, então eu vou agradecer)👍
A good simulator game does exist: its called Bee Swarm Simulator. Its basically the only good simulator.
Having done youtube, and game development on roblox, It's interesting to see just how similar it is between devving and makign videos.
So that’s why Flood Escape 2, PARKOUR, PARKOUR REBORN, Super Bomb Survival, Dummies Vs Noobs, and Nico’s Nextbots are not popular
super bomb survival and many more that are old unique games were popular back then, but all of it died after the rise of simulators
@@boo-narrative oh yeah forgot about that
I mean like reborn was popular cuz it was hyped but it died from the lack of new players (cuz it's paid) and the fact that it's in alpha and is really far from complete (vertigo has been in construction for months now)
Despite you being somewhat right
I genuinely don't understand how people say games with ~500ccu are "the most underrated stuff ever" when games of the same quality have literally an average of 3 ccu (i'll quote hellreaver arena and untitled fps game here)
@@redblueplayer221 honestly I can't find a parkour game with the same quality as parkour reborn
Man i love core games and i am playing "Classified Part Underground Facility" a pretty cool core game that its not only: "meltdown" "stall" "wait a century for a dev to join and get freezedown"
Theres alot of roles and badges you can get, you rarely get bored and recently i bought almost all gamepasses that game have.
Go to cat therapy to find it.)
And then just beat ToM and then you are at ring 2. Towers will be harder there. Yet the mini tower is easier in ring 2.
Then find a guide because i am not gonna write more (lol).
It is a great game to get better at obbies.
But the community is kinda toxic.
jtoh is based
no comment on the community but jtoh is out of this world
this game is overrated af
towers are frustrating imo. Im not really an obbyist but i prefer tiered obbies like the beans series
@@red10909 looks like someone went straight to tots and left
Great example would be a randomizer game called “Allusions”
0:01 too many flashing colors 😥
yo i remember you from your "roblox hats have lost their identity" video
What would happen to it?
no game can exist that has simple mechanics but also more depth and having no microtransactions would mean no support from ROBLOX
No microtransactions is basically saying "Underrated game, but roblox cant milk it for cash."
hi artuco, you should put gambling in infecdoom because roblox like gambling with robux
@@EquinoxWasTaken I will kick you in the balls
Why isn't anyone talking about how well made this video is
I LOVE INDUSTRIALIST
Another reason is that sometimes the games are too hard for certain people to play, therefore making it disliked and underrated
Most parkour games fail for these reasons, even the very good ones. 😭
@l.m.l8598 i dislike that you have to grind a shit ton out of parkour legacy in order to get the good movement items, like why
as a player who loves centarua
i respect that attribute you show that game is amazing and good because theres realistic graphics gore blood
and has a lore which is great thank you
Yeah, I'm like 99% sure that the reason 'Underrated' games aren't played as much is because of the player base. A lot of Roblox is people under 12, and the underrated games may be age restricted, or just not interesting to the ADHD, tiktok scrolling fanatic, 10 year old who plays this game.
While kids dominate roblox in terms of number, kids under 13 shockingly only make up 54-56%, which is lower than what people would guess
@@weirdguylol what was 13 in our generation is not the same, today's 13 y.o. scroll on social media forever as well since parents just buy them the newest iphone, so confusing honestly
@@weirdguylol no, it's probably like 80%, a lot of kids under 13 put their age as over 13 when creating the account
This guy should be hired to advertise a game
many game developers did but they either were unprofessional or had no potential in my opinion
@@nivram8081it won't sadly, pay to play games on roblox never succeed.
P2P game
@@flop69419 good quality for the price
The fact that all of this is true is crazy like money is what roblox wants and money roblox get. So to help people to actually play good games I will list down my personal favorite criminally underrated games.
1.Critical strike
2.Hours.
3.Phighting.
4.Guns Galore.
5.Industrialist.
6.Combat Initiation
7.Alternate Battlegrounds.
Give "lore game" a try
Boring as hell
@@internetuser259 your opinion
GUYS HERE ARE SOME AWESOME GAMES THAT MAINLY PLAY ON VISUALS BUT ARE REALLY GOOD AND YOU SHOULD PLAY:
-How’s your day: connect update-This game is about you working at a coffee shop, where you serve others.
(It’s kinda sad actually)
-Prototype: Prototype is a game where you are a tester of the developer’s game. He gets you to do random things like talk to NPC’s, do parkour courses, ect. The NPC warns you to leave because he has been trapped in the game. You can get one of two endings: You do everything the developer says OR the NPC tricks you into taking his place
-10.6 (Phycological horror game) : this game is about the main character, (I forgot her name) who is looking for her friend named Ben. She searches her house where she gets her friends to help her out. That’s all I’ll say there.
-A stereotypical obby: I don’t know how to explain this one… just play it. And make sure you play to the end :)
Hope you enjoy my recommendations! If you don’t want to read all of it you can just read the first words which tells you the name of the game :)
10.6 was probably the most confusing game that i've ever played, didn't even get what it meant :(
@@viberbread apparently it was a game meant for the dev’s friend which is why it might be confusing but I still found it enjoyable 🙃🙃
