    That's my son Arthur @ 17:48 behind the man talking. We're very proud of him, and very happy & grateful that he's with the ManUp team.
    He wasn't working so we decided to send him there.....and he was happy to go.
    He's had mild intellectual problems since birth and as a consequence has been taken advantage of by so-called "friends", so it's been a good thing for him to be working with this great group of people.

    I worked in forestry and we virtually used every part of the tree save the branches, smaller logs were turned into fence posts for farmland. The rest was then heaped into long rows 6 metres apart called wind rows, then the new trees were planted between them . This slash is ridiculous heads will roll.

    So glad I left NZ years ago. The gang culture is disgusting. Over here in Aussie we have some evil gangs too, but they tend to keep to themselves and would never dare loot during a disaster, or they'd risk a bullet.
    And just to see the collapse of NZ into a third world nation - even before this flooding. They couldn't be bothered fixing the main road through the Manawatu Gorge after a slip, everywhere you drive there are potholes and roadworks with nothing being finished, the rivers are full of rock snot & all the fish have gone, the forests have been cut down, there is rubbish everywhere on the side of the road, you can't buy basic items or they're expensive, petrol is unaffordable, unemployment high, racial tension everywhere, gangs do whatever they want, the rich are getting richer and the poor are sinking down, huge numbers of immigrants who put even more pressure on the system, long wait times in emergency departments, drug use out of control and everyone miserable.
    It's just a tragedy, to see a nation once the greatest on earth just sink into the abyss. And a lot of people still living there aren't willing to see it.
    PS: Thank you to these people who are working hard to bring awareness and help those on the ground. My family came from Esk, and to see it looking like that is heartbreaking. You guys are all doing a great job.

      So sad...

    • @Ronny.81
      @Ronny.81 Рік тому

      Your over exaggeration is not even funny,last time I checked unemployment was pretty low,the rivers have plenty of fish in them.yes there is a bad gang problem but then you complain about immigrants aswell.if it weren't for immigrants that work in the orchards and dairy farms food would be way higher here.Not to mention there still crying out for workers in tourist hot spots like queenstown.The immigrants used to fill them jobs too. Unfortunately New Zealand doesn't have the massive wealth Australia has got coming from the mines to fix large sections of roads,so it seems to be patch here and don't patch there mentality.

    • @tolsen8212
      @tolsen8212 Рік тому

      @@Ronny.81 As I said, most people just aren't willing to see it.
      Australia has natural wealth, yes. And it wasn't very long ago that New Zealand had a higher standard of living than Australia. Because we had natural wealth too. Until we handed it over to others.
      Don't take it as an insult. When you see someone you love is sick and dying, and you remember when they were healthy and full of life, it doesn't mean you blame them.
      I know you guys are hurting right now and I'm not pointing the finger, I'm sad because I know this would have been handled differently in the past.
      Is it because NZ doesn't have mining money that piles of slash were waiting to wipe out our bridges and roads and houses in this flood? Is lack of mining money why the government leaves the clean up to some Christians donating their time? Is mining money the reason gangs loot businesses and nothing gets done?
      The NZ I grew up in had good jobs and wages, homelessness was something you only saw in the movies, we could eat crayfish and snapper and oysters and fruit and veges were cheap (we used to drive to Hawkes Bay and every orchard had pick your own fruit), we could swim and fish in the rivers and they weren't polluted, we were free to camp and tramp anywhere, we had fun and a sense of humour. Not everything was perfect, but we believed in giving everyone a fair go.
      The first step to fixing a problem is admitting it exists.
      The trouble with so many Kiwis is they're telling you how great it is, and anyone who has stepped out of the country for more than a week can see it's not.
      Over my lifetime I watched our freedoms disappear, our nation become divided between rich and poor, Maori and Pakeha. A series of foolish decisions destroy all our assets and our sense of identity.
      I'm sorry if you can't see that. Perhaps you should come over to Brisbane for a visit, where hundreds of thousands of Kiwis are earning a fair wage, paying less for petrol and food, there are no gangs terrorizing us, and when there's a flood, the army rolls in and everything is fixed up straight away.

    • @tolsen8212
      @tolsen8212 Рік тому +2

      @@Ronny.81 PS: unemployment is low when you import hundreds of thousands of low paid immigrant workers from China, India and the Middle East to fill jobs. Before the pandemic, a QUARTER OF A MILLION people arrived TO STAY AND WORK in the space of 4 years...How is that sustainable for a tiny nation?
      I had a nasty, low paying job at a hospital in the Manawatu. When a position became vacant in our department there were 500 applicants.
      So my point is that jobs are hard to come by, they pay nothing and they treat you like garbage.
      The first job I got in Aussie, I was paid three times more than my highest paying job in NZ. And that has nothing to do with the mines. That's just not having an employment contracts act, and millions of overseas wage slaves driving down our earning capacity, and corporate leeches buying off the government.

    • @Ronny.81
      @Ronny.81 Рік тому

      @@tolsen8212 so you think Australia doesn't have massive immigrant labor workforce aswell.go to the outback ,go to the fruit farms and vineyards heaps of immigrants working there.i was in Australia years ago Australian tradies wouldn't work under a certain wage they'd even go to their unions and complain if things weren't 100% right that definitely doesn't happen in NZ as the unions are useless here.the pay I was on back 14 years ago in Australia would still rival most tradies pay in New Zealand nowadays.

    It's been amazing to see so much helping from the community to the victims of this natural disaster. It's also nice to note that a vast majority those people who are helping are skipping this sort of virtue signaling.
    I appreciate that a small group of people came to add to the enormous efforts of our local communities but lets not forget that this group is under the banner the Destiny church cult who's leader believes cyclone Gabrielle was caused by people watching too much porn. This sort of performative activism by cults like destiny is just a thinly veiled attempt to try to gain legitimacy and should be seen for what it is.
    Furthermore, please stop spreading unfounded propaganda about missing people. The last thing we need is more of thse disinformation agents clickbaiting people with made up "stats".

    There’s only a handful of critters out there that are just causing trouble instead of helping. What the media doesn’t show is the endless number of people, from all walks, demographics, economics, just getting in there and helping wherever help is needed. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it ain’t happening, because it is!
