delta died from the heart stopping conditioning, whose premise defined not only the last level of bioshock 2 but of big daddies in general, and was even used against the protagonist from bioshock 1 by frank fontaine after his betrayal (the unique cure for which, could not be replicated in bioshock 2 resulting in envitable death... sophia lamb's stated goal and best attempted to subvert the vita-chamber problem)
Delta died from his wounds throughout the game and he just ends up dying so Eleanor doesnt want her father to die painfully so she mercy kills him and take his adam as well since adam contains DNA memories so they could alwyas be together and that made me cry
i gave gil alexander mercy and got a very different ending from the all save route. elanor doesnt save lamb, but doesnt kill her like she does in the revenge route, just kinda watches her suffer the consequences of her actions. the final cutscene was also tinged with this feeling, i felt it was quite appropriate considering my actions
Man I really miss these videos... I really hope u will come back sooner or later, ur videos are so chill to watch and present so many interesting ideas Wish u the best man, hopefully see you around!
they actually do tell you who the protagonist is, he's Johnny Topside, accidently found Rapture while diving. I think they also tell his story in the novel, which I can really recommend if you want to get into the history of Rapture and so on a bit more... though for some strange reason it is considered non-canonical
@@Ronam0451 9 months later, but... There's more nuance than that. Levine is the creator of the series. At best, you can make a case that, since he doesn't own it, that he can't decide the canon, which is also true of Disney and Star Wars v George Lucas. It's not exactly correct to dismiss him as irrelevant.
I love this the most in the series from the first time I played it. It didn’t change much and I didn’t think it needed to. The weapons were so much better than the first and it just seemed like a great update to what made the first game so great
been bingewatching your essays the last few hours great stuff - thank you for sinking your time into them i hope you grow to a much larger subcount cheers from germany
The rise from the ocean floor could have killed Delta due to pressure changes, specifically they could have set it up as one of the reasons the Alpha series was phased out, that their suits and augmentations were particularly vulnerable to quick changes in pressure along with (hopefully) a number of other reasons But that's both something that both would need to be set up either the beginning of the game or at an opportune time where the player's wondering why there aren't any other Alpha series big daddies around, and also writing for the author, so it doesn't really count
@@MrHanderson91 Yes, but the time until the human heart stops from suffocating compared to the time the person actually dies is different. Humans can suffocate and lose consciousness (simultaneously stopping the heart) much earlier than the actual death of the heart. The human heart can be re-started minutes after having stopped. Elanor was suffocated until she passed out, which stopped her heart. She is not dead though. She never was really, because, as I said, the human heart can remain stopped for minutes; just requires a proper jump start. A lot of people say Elanor died, but in truth her heart just stopped. Actual death occurs much later, and the heart has to remain unable to be started again. People can survive sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) which is when your heart suddenly stops beating. But can die from it within minutes. Many people muddy "death" with "stopped heart" but I trust the Texas Heart Institute. You can read all about the heart and cardiac arrest on a Google search of them.
Nice video, but I strongly disagree with your analysis on the story. The fact you take issues with "retcons" clouded your judgement to the point you clearly pay less attention and end up more confused than you should be. The moment you talked about Delta and Eleanor, you were mostly talking nonesense, showing how little you cared to pay attention. Delta, much like Jack, was a product of Rapture. The story was never about his character. And Eleanor was a victim of her bitch of a mother, so much so that Delta was her only chance to get out of Rapture. If we're talking about retcons, look at Burial at Sea. I also disagree with most negative points you made about the first game. And Sofia is not stupid, she's just a madwoman and a manipulator. There clearly are characters in the game that disagree with Sofia's views. Ryan's philosophy was never gonna work and both Fontaine and Sofia knew that. Ryan and Sofia were hypocrites. Both Philosophies were doomed to fail from the start. Ryan was a great villain, but you give him more credit than he actually deserved. Oh, he had a moment of doubt? So what?? This changes nothing. Just like Sofia having doubt, which she does, would've changed nothing. What you expect Sofia to be is a literal opposite of Ryan in every regard, but that simply wasn't possible in the same city that Ryan built. She only used Rapture for her own purposes, but she never viewed it as a utopia. Her philosophy is that the utopian must be born before the utopia. Gil Alexander was a failed attempt. The idea was to remove the sense of self. Sure it's a stupid idea, but so was Ryan's idea. It's just less obvious because Rapture looks amazing eventhough it was doomed to fail from the start. You sadly sounded more petty than you wanted to. You act like most people do. You find something stupid and then treat the rest as stupid too.
Just watched all your videos I had seen your dishonored video a while ago and you are better than most video essay you tube channels like joseph anderson, hope you return and that the algorithm will grace you with the recognition you deserve.
'Lamb is the worst written character in the Bioshock series'. Not while infinite exists she isn't. Also, I have no idea what you're talking about when you say that Delta's only motivation is to protect Eleanor. While that's part of it, the bigger threat is that as an Alpha-series Big Daddy, his body will slowly go into a coma and shut down if he is too far away from her for too long. He needs to save her, in order to save himself. That's why Lamb bolts him to a table in Inner Persephone, because he'll just respawn if she keeps outright killing him, whereas if he's just kept from Eleanor long enough, he'll slip into a permanent coma. As far as why we don't have a story about how tragic Delta's life is, we can look to Infinite for how this can be done poorly. Booker has a tragic life. He committed atrocity after atrocity as violence was his only way to earn a living. You as the player though, don't give a shit. You didn't see any of this happen, and the only result is being told how sad :( Booker feels. Minerva's Den shows you that Big Daddies lose all memories of who they once were, so the only option would be for Eleanor/ Sophia/ one of the lieutenants to explain in great detail why Delta should be weawy weawy sad :'( that he's not a real boy no more. Finally, you cannot combat 'The Bends' by just being a deep sea diver. That's like saying a doctor should be immune to cancer because of their profession. Not how that works.
I feel your problems with the story are either because you either forgot the more subtle parts of the story or completely missed them, let me cover them: First, Gil, (it's pronounced like gills by the way,) it was implied Suchong died long before the Big Daddies were finished and the bonding process was perfected, (we don't even see what kind of Big Daddy killed him so it could either be some sort of prototype or even an early Alpha Series,) so there's room for Gil to be there. I don't really think he takes away from Suchong, since what he represented is still there, Gil even shows respect for Suchong by bemoaning his absence at the successful bonding of Big Daddies to Little Sisters. As for Gil in the past, he was a refreshing break from the morally ambiguous asshole scientists that would be sorely needed with the absence of Tenenbaum. This was most likely done also to contrast with his maddened, deformed current self, to show you the man he used to be and to set up the dynamic you have with him throughout Fontaine Futuristics. It's a neat way to set up the antagonist of the level. On the subject of antagonists, Sofia Lamb. I observed her through a critical lens and found her to have about as much depth as Ryan did, both are very idealistic people who follow that ideology even when common sense and their own emotions tell them not to. For Ryan, he doubted his beliefs when Rapture was falling, for Lamb, it was when she had to smother her own daughter, which she was shown to struggle with in an audio diary like Ryan. Yes, she expresses her struggles in a different way, but it serves to characterize her as having some love for her daughter by hating having to hurt her like any loving parent would. She also subtly shows jealousy at Delta for his bond with Eleanor in the last part of the game. Basically, both are two sides of the same coin, and this is reflected in the game. As for the retconning of her in, yeah, it's kinda clunky, but I can believe Ryan would want to erase a "parasite" like her from the public eye after she showed she could debate him. Her plan also kinda makes sense, basically she wanted to distill the genius of the greatest minds in Rapture via their genetic memory in ADAM, coupled with mental treatment like Jack's to create a truly selfless being that could lead mankind to her idea of salvation. As for the retcons to Big Daddies, it makes more sense for this to be a long process with trial and error than something that was done on the first few tries. Plus, there was a big chunk of time between when Suchong died to when the Big Daddies would be sorely needed, so odds are they needed to really work on it to make sure the Big Daddies were fit to release out onto the streets. I also found their explanation for the bond between the two to be believable and grounded in science, fitting the setting, (unlike Burial at Sea's explanation.) As for Eleanor and Delta, I find your analysis of their bond very flawed. Delta's motivation to find Eleanor isn't just because he's a Big Daddy, it's because if he doesn't he will LAPSE INTO A COMA, it's explained at several points that Alpha Series Big Daddies were bonded to a single Little Sister, unlike the later types that could be bonded to ANY Little Sister interchangeably. To "encourage" them to not abandon their Sisters or let them die, the scientists made it so the Alpha Series would either lapse into a coma or go insane when either the Sister got too far away or was killed. Delta has this bond with Eleanor and his PRIMARY motivation for reaching her is to NOT be a vegetable or go insane. His other motivation depends on YOUR actions as a player. Do you harvest the other Sisters to reach Eleanor and cut your way through everyone else mercilessly? Or do you show your still a man underneath the suit and show compassion to the Sisters and the others who stand in your way? It's a really good way to carry the message of the game through. Anyway, besides those points, decent video, though you let your bias overtake your observation a bit.
I still like the story in this game, but I completely get the criticisms unlike most of the criticisms I see levied at Infinite. I disagree with you tho about retcons, if they don’t fundamentally break a story I’m fine with them. However I completely agree that Mark Meltzer should have been the main character and that the side characters in general are the strength of Bioshock 2’s story.
Great video, this is the kind of Bioshock coverage I want to see. Looking forward to the infinite video, can’t say I disagree with your Matthewmatosis comment.
I agree with you, Bioshock 2 is the best of the 3 games. I finished Bioshock 2 and Infinite last week, i'm playing Bioshock 1 at the moment, so it's quite fresh for me.
It would've benn nice to see some of those examples in wich 2 is'nt as "naturalistic" as the first. Interesting, given that i, personally, would'nt even consider the levels from the first "naturalistic". System Shock, Deus ex, even Prey, i buy those, but Bioshock? IDK, it has always looked more like a thematic park for me than real, sensical, practical spaces. That's precisely the thing that i love the most about these 2 games, i adore their rich diorama-like level design.
It's been awhile since I played 2 so I can't talk about if/how it failed in this department. But Fort Frolic is probably the best example, being layed out like the literal shopping center it is. Despite also being very much a crafted diorama, it's clearly something that's been crafted (by Cohen) on top of an existing structure. The medical pavilion is also layed out very logically and seems consistent in universe. Apollo Square and Point Prometheus both have areas that don't serve much of a purpose aside from to let the player get lost and contribute to the environmental Storytelling. Neptune's bounty certainly feels like a diorama though. Arcadia also suffered from that too an extent, but not only does that somewhat make sense as it kinda is one in universe but the way the splicers navigate across it feels rather natural as well (the farmers market section has no such excuses though). In fact the way splicers tend to congregate either in 'hideouts' or seemingly traversing areas that connect to others is probably one of the strongest things that makes Bioshock 1 feel so lived in.
@@CM-db5cg All of those things applied to the same extent to BioShock 2: Adonis Resorts, Ryan amusements (a literal theme park, completely organic and sensical), The Sinclair deluxe, The pink pearl and Siren Alley in general, Fontaine futuristics? All of them do the same thing
Also, pale imitation of the voice acting in the first game? How? I’ve never seen anyone else bring up something like this before. It doesn’t make any sense.
They did explain kinda who delta was though..he’s Johnny Topside who was a diver that came across rapture and as there were no genuine volunteers for the Big Daddy program, he was used as a test subject under suchong
I only played through Bioshock 2 once but I remember really enjoying the combat and searching the map. I don’t think it can top that feeling that you got in Bioshock 1 because of the familiarity you already had to Rapture. It was a fine sequel that I have no regrets purchasing.
Bioshock 2 as an experience is just as great as the other two. It keeps all of the character, soul, etc. from 1 and adds more. To say it’s the worst in the whole series is just wrong. It’s writing, voice acting, and villains are great. Just as great as the other two. Nearly perfect. There are no retcons, and it isn’t hollow at all. It’s narrative is just as memorable. You don’t seem to understand how great this game’s story and characters truly are. Look at it this way, I was interested in the story from start to finish. I cared about Eleanor and wanted to see her safe. As someone who grew up with “imperfect” parents I know what she felt like. The more I learned about her situation the more I wanted to help. Same goes with every character, each one well acted and written, and very interesting. I wanted to learn more about each one, some I cared about and felt sorry for, others I hated and wanted to see fail, and some were just interesting. Plus Bioshock 2 expands raptures story a lot, it lets us know why people would fight against Ryan. Sofia Lamb is an excellent villain, the way she manipulated the splicers and citizens of rapture, as well as the pain she caused. Her philosophy was interesting, but also flawed. Plus seeing characters like Sinclair turned against you after all that happened was sad. Hearing the stories of grace Holloway, Stanley pool, Gil Alexander, mark meltzer, etc. Each one has an interesting personality and story. Plus given how well the characters tie into each game other, learning about one tells you so much about the others. I could go on forever. I hope I’ve helped explain more about why I love it so much. That’s why I don’t understand the criticism that some have, and why so many people love it so much.
dude the game has retcons and has weaknesses that 1 and 3 don't have, but the gameplay is more fun and the videogame level design is good for me, I take that over some bullshit corridors that follow the narrative.
You ever gonna cover infinite? Its been awhile since I played it but I remember it being a lot less subtle with its messages and having a much less believable world than the first 2 games
This is a great vid and your catalogue is awesome! Also your voice sounds eerily similar to Marcus from Cosmonaut Variety Hour at times. Love your stuff man
I actually loved BS2s voice acting And Sofia the worst? That's Elizabeth Loved the video! Think you were a bit overly harsh on the story but that's me The two big bugs for me is do you actually think Mark was happy with his outcome?? Cause I sure as hell do not lol And El definetly does not murder you in the good ending
I recently replayed this game and it was a lot better than I thought. I think it was going to be hard to pull off a sequel to bioshock no matter what. Something in the Sea was epic though!

In light of a dlc for BioShock infinite talking about retconing is pointless, because of retcons in this dlc and explanation of those retcons, so it doesn't count as a game story sin. And as for the Deltas and Eleanor story... It's simple works or not works. For me it's works, i like them a lot(and the story's of Sigma and Mark too, they are amazing), for you it doesn't. Tho i do think it could've been better, it certanly does.
Bioshock Infinite didn't try to override the original work in quite the same way as Bioshock 2. Burial at Sea tries to recontextualize and reframe existing plot points without diminishing or replacing them. Sometimes it can be a little hamfisted but I never got a hint of the arrogant apathy of Bioshock 2 towards it's predecessors work. Plus it's also easily disregarded by the fact that it's an alternate universe that doesn't completely follow the original games backstory.
BioShock 1: great game, tapers off for me after Cohen I think. First half or 3/4 is fun. Last fourth or so dragged on for me. BioShock Infinite: my first BioShock game. Absolutely love it. It’s a BioShock game in name only but is still fun. I love the look of the guns. My favorite BioShock game BioShock 2: just started playing it. Love the idea of walking around as a prototype big daddy in a broken Rapture. Fending off other Big Daddies to save or harvest the Little Sisters. It’s a cool concept and I REALLY enjoy the gameplay implications of protecting the Sister to gather Adam. Yeah it gets annoying but I’m a Big Daddy, it’s what I do. Overall enjoying BioShock 2, though I started on Hard mode and it’s kinda brutal early game. I’m running through my Eve to stun enemies so I can mitigate damage. Even so, they do SO much damage per hit. Gunshot do a fourth of my health, melees do half or so. Resource management is key for this game in hard mode. I’m pretty sure it’ll get easier as I acquire more weapons and upgrades. Anyway I’ll come back after I finish the game or get further. Good luck

bioshock 2, i kind of slept through this game because the rivit gun was just so overpowered, even on the hardest difficulty iw as just headshotting splicers, then when the big sister came i had so much ammo to throw at that chick, this game was such a cake walk. story was bad yes for bioshock 2, but remember. the devs were really strick on timing. 2k was trying to milk the franchise as much as they could.

I haven't played this game in a decade, but I thought that the implication was that Meltzer was the player character. I don't know why I thought that, but I guess I might have missed some subtext. Or maybe I saw some subtext that wasn't there.
Any ETA on the Infinite video? Just watched both your Bioshock essays and I'm curious when I'll be able to watch the finale. I love the series and your in depth thoughts on each entry.
I can't pin down any definitive timeframe at the moment due to my erratic schedule but I do still plan on releasing the video hopefully within the next couple months. I'm sorry it's taken so long. This one has got away from me for a number of reasons, both personal and professional but I do plan on finishing it.
@@EldritchAugur Take as much time as needed to keep the quality high, I just subscribed so I'll see when it's out. Just curious, have you played Prey (2017)? I think it'd make for an interesting future video, considering your previous experience with Bioshock as well as Dishonored.
@@sebastiannienow6981 I played a little of it but never got around to finishing it. I have a really weird issue with the game because I loved the level design, the weapons, the systems but I couldn't stand the enemies. Weirdly enough I played Resident Evil 7 and Prey back to back and it was the second game in a row that was ruined by uninspired black goop monsters for me. (Resident Evil 7 it just the last 3rd of the game I have an issue with) I know that's a really weird complaint and I do hope to return to the game some day and give it another chance but I found the combat to be a chore and the story was typical Arcane studios dry lifeless and utilitarian dialogue and presentation. The level design was some of the best I've seen in years but it wasn't enough to carry the game for me.
Whenever I play Bioshock Infinite: Barial At Sea: Episodes 1&2, is always get the feeling that the devs are trying to make me forget that Bioshock 2 and it's DLC exist.
Of course you'd look at grace sympathetically, she never did amything wrong, lamb was always worse than whatever "tyrant" she was making ryan out to be
I was a fan except for the multiplay part. They made it damn near impossible to ever play the expansion pack maps unless everyone had it. So guess what, if one guy didn’t know and didn’t have it, no one got to get those achievements and trophies. Fragmented the community and all that they had to do to fix it, just make it free to all. But no that was real work; you know pushing a few keys, and they couldn’t be bothered despite promises that you can still find in their support forums. Other than that loved the game. Good story and the Big Sisters were an interesting addition (wished they were fleshed out more).

I would compare it to the FPS Fallout games. Everyone loves 3, so when New Vegas came out, people didn't like it as much. Then New Vegas would later get more appreciation.
My confusion with Lamb was that she desired to remake rapture in her philosophical and governmental ideals...but rapture was beyond repair both structurally wise and in terms of citizens...to the point she was required to kidnap girls from up top because there were no more little girls down below as every living creature besides the 3 sub characters are all splicers! So her plan was a failure from the start!
why did it take a video about bioshock 2 talking about a little sister while showing Elizabeth on screen for me to realize her outfit and appearance is that of a grown up little sister?

If you hate retcons you would hate Burial at Sea atleast bioshock 2 doesn't delete major story from the first game unlike Burial at Sea did with 1 and 2
With BaS it's very clear that it's presenting an alternate universe under the umbrella of infinite universes so any changes made to the story do not inherently have to be definitive. The other thing is that no part of the story is altered in any real way. The story would still progress exactly the same as in the original game and that's key because it comprises the whole reason Elizabeth sacrifices herself in BaS 2. No character motivations are changed, no new characters are awkwardly crowbarred in retroactively. The only thing that changes is that Fink and Suchong were collaborating technologies, (which I think is fascinating and hilarious), and that Elizabeth gave Atlas the location of Jack. Doesn't really change anything. There's no massive integral founding figure added to Rapture retroactively. And no original characters have any of their motivations or stories altered in any real way. I don't love everything about the DLC. It's a little too fanservicey for my taste. But I do think that overall it's integration with the original game is very smart and well considered.
If you think all retcons are bad and detrimental somehow... you haven’t seen Beast Wars. That’s the only solid retcon I can think of, but it can be done. But I largely agree retcons are distracting, obvious, and oftentimes they’re cheap writing in order to elevate the importance os a story artificially.
Andrew Smith, or Eldritch Aurgur as he was known on UA-cam, was found dead in his wrecked car, with a bullet wound located in his stomach. The fingerprints of the ex boyfriend of his girlfriend were found in his car. The ex, Steve Harrington, had been stalking Andrew, and killed Andrew out of jealousy. Steve flagged down Andrew's car, and Andrew pulled over to see what the man needed. As Andrew lowered his window, Steve revealed a pistol he purchased 2 weeks ago, a Mossberg MC2c. He shot at Andrew twice, hitting him once in the stomach, the other bullet had missed, due to Andrew swiftly driving off. Andrew, with the adrenaline wearing off, crashed his car into a tree. He was knocked unconscious, and subsequently bled out, alone, and in the cold. Rest in Paradise, Andrew Smith. You will forever be missed, and remembered in the hearts of many. This why Story can't never be more important than gameplay, because when that happens shit like this happens. The 1st bioshock is inferior to 2 in almost everything except the story in 1 Is very strong but it falls down at the end. Bioshock 2 has a decent story and a better gameplay. So again the villain and the story are the problem? Well Too bad, I don't give a fuck, the game is just so much fun to play and replay that at the end of the day the story and lazy writing doesn't matter, besides, you can only experience the story ONCE.
the la noire video and your mafia 3 video are my favorite of yours, i havent rewatched a majority of your videos in a while though. the dark souls video was probably your best video, its just the extreme length of it is pretty annoying, since its hard to get through it without taking breaks, which i dont like doing. the metro video is probably the most forgettable video, im pretty sure its becuase i just had no interest in the game at all. the walking simulator video was also one of my favorites, just not on the level of the top 2, but if i rewatch it i might enjoy it more. im too lazy to finish this comment so ill finish it later (if i actually remember)
It didn't change much except that it changed the complete gameplay from "walk around and shoot" to "walk around and shoot and protect your little sister" (which sucks btw).

Love your in-depth analysis vids. I'd love for you to do an in-depth video on a game called SOMA, if you ever got the chance. It's from a company called Frictional Games. I'd love to hear your take on it. Peace✌

I think if I had been in charge of B2's main story, Meltzer would have been the protag, the good ending is saving his daughter, bad ending is becoming a big daddy and joining his daughter.

Saw this vid pop up in my feed and remembered i hadnt finshed this one. Tbh even without Minervas Den i think i liked this one better the Bio 1 and thats mainly cause the game doesnt have that awful last third that Bio 1 had aswell as the weapons were just great fun to use. Also cause i played both on the console that may have affected my experience compared to the PC,in Bio 1 on the consoles u cant turn off the vita chambers which just forces me to play by honour rules where if i "die" i reload my latest manual save. However in bio 2 i could turn them off from the start and i actually got an achievement called Big Brass Balls for doing so. :) Can't disagree with you on hating Lamb but to be honest her obvious hypocrisy and general shitiness feels more appropriate for the sort of nut job who thinks they can build a utopia unda da sea especially one who piggybacked over some other nut jobs failed utopia lol. And i killed all the secondary antagonists so in my ending Bye Bye lamb :) I gotta check out Minervas Den now, thanks for the vid it was interesting as always :)

wait... as far as I remember, killing Alexander was the evil option. That's what annoyed me back than because I saw it as granting a man descending into madness his final request.
I can't say for sure given that the morality system doesn't have any viewable metrics but I have gotten the "good" ending every playthrough that I've chosen to kill him.
@@EldritchAugur as far as I know the ending being good or evil is mostly determined by the number of little sisters saved or killed. Killing or sparing the three specific characters only determines whether or not Eleanor is merciful towards her mother.

I wish they would have made part 2 a prequel to part one and allowed you to witness the fall of rapture instead of the story they went with. I play the original Bioshock about once a year and while I like certain aspects of part 2 I don't enjoy yhe story as much.....that being said it's better than Infinite which is by far the worst of the series.
Wonder what happened to this guy. Hope he's doing alright out there. He's got a great mind and I hope he's happy and healthy.

delta died from the heart stopping conditioning, whose premise defined not only the last level of bioshock 2 but of big daddies in general, and was even used against the protagonist from bioshock 1 by frank fontaine after his betrayal (the unique cure for which, could not be replicated in bioshock 2 resulting in envitable death... sophia lamb's stated goal and best attempted to subvert the vita-chamber problem)

Delta died from his wounds throughout the game and he just ends up dying so Eleanor doesnt want her father to die painfully so she mercy kills him and take his adam as well since adam contains DNA memories so they could alwyas be together and that made me cry
i gave gil alexander mercy and got a very different ending from the all save route. elanor doesnt save lamb, but doesnt kill her like she does in the revenge route, just kinda watches her suffer the consequences of her actions. the final cutscene was also tinged with this feeling, i felt it was quite appropriate considering my actions

they actually do tell you who the protagonist is, he's Johnny Topside, accidently found Rapture while diving. I think they also tell his story in the novel, which I can really recommend if you want to get into the history of Rapture and so on a bit more... though for some strange reason it is considered non-canonical
It is canon. Levine just says it's not because he didn't work on it. He doesn't have the power to choose what is canon and what is not.

The rise from the ocean floor could have killed Delta due to pressure changes, specifically they could have set it up as one of the reasons the Alpha series was phased out, that their suits and augmentations were particularly vulnerable to quick changes in pressure along with (hopefully) a number of other reasons
But that's both something that both would need to be set up either the beginning of the game or at an opportune time where the player's wondering why there aren't any other Alpha series big daddies around, and also writing for the author, so it doesn't really count
Delta dies because of broken bond with Eleanor, which brokes when Sophia stops Eleanor's heart for brief moment.
Except being choked for a short period will increase the heart rate
@@MrHanderson91She was choked until she died and then was resuscitated immediately
@@dougmcboat7276 but choking to death takes at least 5 minutes.
You can read all about the heart and cardiac arrest on a Google search of them.
guys thats not how delta dies
Cry more
@@dubvuchyea502 No, you.

I feel your problems with the story are either because you either forgot the more subtle parts of the story or completely missed them, let me cover them:
First, Gil, (it's pronounced like gills by the way,) it was implied Suchong died long before the Big Daddies were finished and the bonding process was perfected, (we don't even see what kind of Big Daddy killed him so it could either be some sort of prototype or even an early Alpha Series,) so there's room for Gil to be there.
I also found their explanation for the bond between the two to be believable and grounded in science, fitting the setting, (unlike Burial at Sea's explanation.)
As for Eleanor and Delta, I find your analysis of their bond very flawed.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed.
Man i just found this channel and I love this type of content and your videos are great. I hope you come back. And that you're OK!
Just found your channel and you definitely need more subs! You've got some great analysis vids
I hope you doing alright, judt saw ur community tab and that ur twitter acc doesnt exists anymore. Youre such a good youtuber
HOLY SHIT this channels amazing
Eleanor absorbed Delta because he was already dying. Their bond broke when Sophia Lamb 'killed' Eleanor, and so, Delta began to die, slowly
This guy just drops these amazing videos and disappears. Shame
Honestly it probably only makes sense if you have a PhD in quantum physics
This is a great vid and your catalogue is awesome! Also your voice sounds eerily similar to Marcus from Cosmonaut Variety Hour at times. Love your stuff man
Please continue to make videos. Your stuff has been wonderful. The internet misses you
I actually loved BS2s voice acting
And Sofia the worst? That's Elizabeth
Loved the video! Think you were a bit overly harsh on the story but that's me
The two big bugs for me is do you actually think Mark was happy with his outcome?? Cause I sure as hell do not lol
And El definetly does not murder you in the good ending
I recently replayed this game and it was a lot better than I thought. I think it was going to be hard to pull off a sequel to bioshock no matter what. Something in the Sea was epic though!
Very interesting take my friend

Eldritch Augur I’m gonna keep saying this but it’s so nice to hear someone finally saying this stuff
Any idea when I could expect an Infinite Retrospective?
BioShock 1: great game, tapers off for me after Cohen I think. First half or 3/4 is fun. Last fourth or so dragged on for me.
BioShock Infinite: my first BioShock game. Absolutely love it. It’s a BioShock game in name only but is still fun. I love the look of the guns. My favorite BioShock game
BioShock 2: just started playing it.
Good luck

Are you going to do Infinite and, more importantly, Burial at Sea? I would really, really like to hear what you thought about the DLCs for Infinite
bioshock 2, i kind of slept through this game because the rivit gun was just so overpowered, even on the hardest difficulty iw as just headshotting splicers, then when the big sister came i had so much ammo to throw at that chick, this game was such a cake walk.
story was bad yes for bioshock 2, but remember. the devs were really strick on timing. 2k was trying to milk the franchise as much as they could.
Where’d you go?

(Resident Evil 7 it just the last 3rd of the game I have an issue with)
I know that's a really weird complaint and I do hope to return to the game some day and give it another chance but I found the combat to be a chore and the story was typical Arcane studios dry lifeless and utilitarian dialogue and presentation.
Of course you'd look at grace sympathetically, she never did amything wrong, lamb was always worse than whatever "tyrant" she was making ryan out to be
You need to upload again
I was a fan except for the multiplay part. They made it damn near impossible to ever play the expansion pack maps unless everyone had it. So guess what, if one guy didn’t know and didn’t have it, no one got to get those achievements and trophies. Fragmented the community and all that they had to do to fix it, just make it free to all. But no that was real work; you know pushing a few keys, and they couldn’t be bothered despite promises that you can still find in their support forums.
Other than that loved the game. Good story and the Big Sisters were an interesting addition (wished they were fleshed out more).
how do i become as enlightened as you when it comes to video game analysis and reviews
11:00 To be fair, that in itself COULD be seen as part of the commentary itself.

I would compare it to the FPS Fallout games. Everyone loves 3, so when New Vegas came out, people didn't like it as much. Then New Vegas would later get more appreciation.
Can you do a video on Bioshock Infinite I would love to watch that :D
Do you think you could talk about elden ring bosses?
My confusion with Lamb was that she desired to remake rapture in her philosophical and governmental ideals...but rapture was beyond repair both structurally wise and in terms of citizens...to the point she was required to kidnap girls from up top because there were no more little girls down below as every living creature besides the 3 sub characters are all splicers! So her plan was a failure from the start!
why did it take a video about bioshock 2 talking about a little sister while showing Elizabeth on screen for me to realize her outfit and appearance is that of a grown up little sister?
I just discovered your channel and im already suscribed.. keep up the good work.

Underrated Channel. Been binging your content all day.
Please come back whenever you can...
I really hope he comes back i liked his stuff
Wish you still made videos
If you think all retcons are bad and detrimental somehow... you haven’t seen Beast Wars.
That’s the only solid retcon I can think of, but it can be done. But I largely agree retcons are distracting, obvious, and oftentimes they’re cheap writing in order to elevate the importance os a story artificially.
please come back my man

Man we need You
Anyway, u should make more vids, come back ese

If you have any information about Steve Harrington please contact the authorities and tell them anything you know. His whereabouts are unknown. He is 5'11, 182 pounds, has distinct baby blue eyes and blonde hair. He is potentially armed and very dangerous. Do not attempt to confront him, call 911 immediately. Please, contact the authorities if you have any information at all. Andrew deserves justice. We cannot let this monster roam among us any longer. Fly high, Andrew Smith.

Retcons aren't necessary when you use good writing.....

Please review Prey
wait... as far as I remember, killing Alexander was the evil option.

Yea alot of the faults you have with the game are remedied by reading Bioshock:Rapture by John Shirley I highly recommend it the book covers alot of you complained about in great subtle ways and adds a ton of history to Raptures lore including Sofia Lamb and Eleanor and even Johnny Topside aka Subject Delta
Unfortunately the author of this channel has passed away from COVID. RIP, you will be missed

I loved bioshock 2
Bioshock 2 >> Bioshock >>>>>>> Bioshock Infinite
