I've got a Doug Dubach story: Circa 1988, I was a 250 Jr (or maybe Intermediate) racing at Mammoth. My bike had total sh't suspension and I'd swap all the time, but I thought that was normal, so I'd just try to keep it pinned and hang on like Bob Hannah would. But at Mammoth, there is a big downhill which has a huge tree on the left side toward the bottom of it, and I was really scared that I might swap and end up smacking straight into it at 50mph or so. I was really shy then, but I'd spotted Doug Dubach talking with some fans and he seemed perfectly nice and approachable, so when they left, I sheepishly stepped up and said hello, and asked him if he was ever worried about hitting that tree like I was, because he'd haul ASS yet it didn't seem to faze him at all. And not just the tree was an issue, but downhills overall were very scary to me then. He looked at me in a really kind way, and then he opened up and shared with me how he does it. And I felt so...I was kinda blown away. Because he was a hero of mine. He was famous--and an incredible rider. And for him to take a few minutes to talk to me like he did... That's stuck with me my whole life. And I've always appreciated it so much. It showed me how giving someone--especially a child--your sincere attention--with kindness--even for a brief moment or two as in this case, can have a powerful, positive, and lifelong impact. If you ever see this, Doug, thank you. 🙏🏼
I used to be a really solid rider and think I’m in really good shape for 50+. I get crazy ideas that I can finish respectably in this class. Then I wake up and see Brown and others studs. Nope….not happening. They’d lap me 13 times in a 10 lap race. Oh well, back to couch racing.
The greatest vet of all time? How many titles does Doug Duback have 20 or so? Keven Walker won 14 Vet titles at Lorreta Lynns I believe, I don't remember Mike Brown winning that many there either. I think the Mike Brown worship is just a tad over the top these days.

61 D rider old school,
I would like to try next year, I’ll bring some oxygen. Do they let you bring oxygen? How many laps??
Yes come check it out! They have a ton of classes. It's at Glen Helen Raceway.
Ha that's funny but ya I'm 61 and still rip without it haaaa
Tv does not convey how damn rough the track was, treacherous is a good term !
Where is ryan villopoto?
Maybe if he was 50 and not 36 he would be in the 50+ class….

Mike Brown stormin....an gone...
what are the rules around what what bike year etc
I don't think you are limited on bike choice. There are multiple different classes.
Typically in the age group classes you can run pretty much anything you want. 2 stroke or 4 stroke any cc motor.
Just ride a dirtbike. It's not an AHRMA event. 😑
KN is from the UK and BW...
