Check out this highlight video I put together from the Olympic Team Trials in Reno, Nevada!
Male -80kg, Jaysen Ishida vs Terrence Jennings vs Steven Lopez
Female -67kg, Cheyenne Lewis vs Paige McPherson
Male +80kg, Mark Lopez vs Stephen Lambdin
Terrence won two out of three matches vs Jaysen so he faced off with Steven Lopez for the finals in which Steven only had to win one match because he was the top seed. Steven ended up winning in Golden Point.
Paige only had to win one match against Cheyenne because she was the top seed. Stephen was also the top seed vs Mark, so he only had to win once.
I managed to interview a few of the athletes after the trials so stay tuned for the post-fight interviews!

This is the sport side of taekwondo. If u want to see punches go to ITF taekwondo.
Exactly, you won't see Punches in the Sport side of Tae Kwon Do.
Every time one of them threw a punch, the opponent coughed up blood so I edited those scenes out. It was quite graphic.
Now pay attention to 5:25 compared to 6:00 .somebody PLEASE explain lol

How does one make it on the national team? I’ve been doing tkd for 8 years and started electronic chestgear sparring last year. I really want to make a career out of this sport but idk how..

Is this full contact or what? Of course, the tag karate is always full contact really, people just sometimes get called on it, and you get hurt worse with the pulled punch stuff. Anyway, what is the rules on this, is it supposed to be full contact?

TJ you always hated getting punched :) You needed to pour it on after that, it was for effect. SL knew you were dangerous, took you out of your game. You needed to go in there and fight nastier afterwards (which is hard to do).
Amazing but strange team trials ......different weight classes fighting with each other ...is it done. . in .. every country ir just in usa .....

TJ is an amazing fighter. I fought him in the day and so did Ilya Sergeyko and we both got our asses kicked. Great personality and a a smart fighter. Credit to Patrice Remarck and Seb Konan. If you think he is 'boring' you don't understand his opponents. Any asshole can make TKD look good against medicore. To make it look good against an advanced and technical opponent is nearly impossible. Look at the Lopez and how they won for years. It wasn't pretty TKD.

K J Sauser Yes, it is, but they've made it such a sport at the olympics that it loses many of the practical elements of a real fight, bringing hatred from ignorant outsiders to the style of taekwondo as a whole.
