My favorite game. Great video man! I have beat this game over 400+ times. Still plays it after 4 years. It's cathartic for me personally, to relax and chill. 👍😀
Literally just beat my first playtrough of the game. Never played the 1998 original and love it. No matter how capable Leon got, you were never allowed to feel confortable or safe. Its a complete 180 from RE4 a love that both game have contrasting tones. great video dude!
Excellent video dude! Not a major RE player myself but I do enjoy consuming content on UA-cam about it as it is a series that fascinates and entertains me.
Yep, it would of been nice to fight a few spiders in the sewers and have better boss variants/situations for the B scenarios but still it's an S tier entry/remake.
@@watchmehope6560 agreed! I still don’t understand why they did that considering it was no problem to perfectly recreate Leon’s classic outfit. The tank top under her vest and no biker gloves throws it off a little to me lol
This is a great video. You should do more videos like this to increase you number of subscribers, because this is the kind of content that people like to consume.
Thank you, yeah I love video essays/reviews. I'm kind of inspired to make similar videos so I can compliment my favorites while giving a good amount of criticism. I'm working on another video actually for a horror game. I hope everyone likes it.
Resevil 2 remake was is an epic game! I completed it 5 times, twice on the hardest difficulty. Thanks to Carcinogen for the fantastic walkthroughs. The lighting and shadow effects in this game, through the RE Engine, are visually stunning. Once i got used to the rather slow run speed and the ever so slightly, clunky turning, I found resevil 2 remake a mechanically fun game to play. The gun play is very fun.
I’m trying not to be negative but I’m so over these “reviewers” who never played the original Trilogy and are giving their opinions on the remakes I want to see more OG fan’s opinions, am I going to have to start my own channel?
Yeah it's understandable, I'm not from the 90s so I might come across as really stupid or oblivious when it involves Resident Evil to OG fans. However I love the series. I'm actually making a Resident Evil 3 Remake video for the channel where I played Resident Evil 3 Nemesis before to get a better grasp on the criticisms. I'm upset they cut content for the remake. As for you making a channel for OG fans I'd say go for that goal. That'd be awesome.
In addition you should watch Suzi The Sphere Hunter, Maximilian Dood, and Bawkbasoup if you want to hear opinions from OG fans. Max is all about fighting games mainly but loves Resident Evil. They're great.
Re2 remake was done extremely well. The original was one of my favorites growing up, and other than a few cuts that I would have loved to see (spiders being one) I was overjoyed playing this. Was the right amount horrifying and campy, just like my black comedy trilogy guilty pleasure Evil Dead 1and 2 and Army of Darkness.
Yeah it's really S tier material. Cuts of the game were slightly disappointing but overall it's amazing. Also if you like Evil Dead you might really love VII for the inspirations.
It was just as great as the 1st time I seen my aunt's boyfriend at the time play it on Dreamcast (I was like 4 or 5 terrified) Now hes one of my favorite uncles and the greatest man I know...🍻
only properly played through when this game came out of game pass but everything about it is great graphics, gun play, characters, story:its just a brilliant remaster done right the only problem is the confusion with some of the key puzzles like the police chiefs private collection finding the electronic part was very confusing at times
Yeah Gamepass makes it so this video is not too late to get views by any means. Gamepass is the reason I played the game and the reason I am currently watching RE2 content on UA-cam.
Something I learned recently that final boss after the 2nd run can be beaten with a knife. I tried it on hardcore and yeah look it up it's really easy.
Wow that's really cool. I knew G1/G2/G3 and Super Tyrant could be killed that way but I didn't know G5 could be killed the same way though. Then again it is Resident Evil. It seems you have to position yourself for a few knife swings when the eye ball emerges. Super dope, thanks.
I'm currently playing the Remake again and I can't see how people call this a GOAT remake. And that's at all saying it's bad, but those story similarities between Leon and Clarie story is bad and confusing. No zapping system, and Leon and Claire have no interaction basically the beginning of the game and the end. I personally wouldn't call RE2R a S-tier remake that's RE1R. RE2R A-Tier 100%
Resident Evil 2 remake feels like an S tier game more than an S tier remake from a certain perspective. A scenarios are better when playing through them compared to the B scenarios. Also Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 as remakes are S tier.
I wouldn't say many ways after Resident Evil 3 Remake swinging in but it does lack a minimal amount of things that would of been great. It's still a really good entry in the series.
@@clarkenshi2683 There is so much of the story they just omited from the game, enemies were tossed out, no effort put into the 2nd run. No undead Brad Vickers, where is the crossbow? How many times does Annette die? Why are certain areas that received major damage suddenly repaired? There is a lot wrong with this game when you compare it to Resident Evil 2 98. It's saving grace was the gameplay and athestics. It played and looked like Resident Evil 2 98. When it comes to comparing Resident Evil 2 Remake to Resident Evil 3 Remake and saying it could have been worse it definitely could have. But that's not actually fair. Resident Evil 2 Remake needs to be compared to Resident Evil 2 98. And 85 percent of Resident Evil 2 98 is definitely there and I would never say Resident Evil 2 Remake is a bad game. But as a remake of 98 it could have been better if they kept things that 98 did that make it such an iconic game. Resident Evil 3 Remake is also a great game. But as a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis 99 it is a total failure. And that total failure shouldn't justify Resident Evil 2 Remake's shortcomings. In fact you can point at those shortcomings in Resident Evil 2 Remake and say with confidence. "Here is where the wheels came off this project." They let the developers cut an inch off Resident Evil 2 Remake and the fan base accepted it. As a result Resident Evil 3 Remake has a mile cut out of it. And when the fans complained Capcom turned a blind eye to the criticism and decided the project was finished and moved on. Resident Evil 4 Remake turned out to be another solid remake with 85 percent of the original 2004 classic present. But that was after the developers of Resident Evil 3 Remake completely botched the job.
Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake had nothing from the original city. This city is completely different, boring and empty. They literately feel and look like set pieces from a movie, and that's about it. Specially the streets towards the police station look nothing like the original game. The streets in front and next to the police station are far too wide and the street in front has an intersection that wasn't there in the original Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. Since RE2 takes place mostly inside the police station, it didn't bother me that much. That is were the story takes place and that's were the main focus of the game is. But not being consistent with the original versions.. That kind of inconsistency is what killed Resident Evil 3 Remake. Because what they screwed up in the remake of part 2 could no longer be corrected in the remake of part 3. It was just a lack of vision, because they focused purely on RE2 Remake, and thus did not take into account the locations in RE3 Remake. This ultimately resulted in the city becoming unrecognizable in Remake 3. In my opinion, Resident Evil 3 is a far better game than part 2. It is more difficult, especially if you choose the first run on hard mode, and do not yet know how to mix ammunition or have not yet unlocked any weapons. There's always the concept that 2 is harder than 3. But I think that's really bullshit. It is true when you already played through it once, and unlocked all kinds of stuff. But if you have no prior knowledge of 3, then this game is simply more difficult. Especially the fights with the Nemesis at the clock tower, for example, you don't just walk through that if you don't know exactly what you are doing. And there is no real escape, because the Nemesis is actually everywhere. The music in part 3 was also much more bombastic than in part 2. Much more dynamic too, and changed when the Nemesis entered. It was more in tune with events. In addition, the city in 3 was much larger, and you felt like really being in Raccoon City, instead of just three blocks and a police station with underground sewers. Turning from daytime into nighttime was also really awesome in part 3, and the zombies became more aggressive and they also increased in quantities. The variety in locations, enemies, music, weapons, and the story of UBCS soldiers really added value, and shed more light on things like how far Umbrella was willing to go. We already knew that they were brutal and ruthless towards employees, but they also have no compassion for civilians, which becomes clear when you realize that Nicolai and his gang have been ordered to permanently silence everyone and his mother in and around the city. And to make sure that no one including his own soldiers will leave that city before the bomb is dropped. 2 was a good game on the PS1. But there was a lot wrong with it. What police officer gives a gun to someone (an almost teenage girl) whom he has only known for just three minutes, and leaves her to snoop around a police station alone where all kinds of sensitive information is stored? Then he's completely disinterested in her for 90% of the game, and instead of regrouping with her to protect her, he's busy doing his own shit or just caring about Ada Wong. Leon makes strange decisions as a cop, even if it's his first day. And I did hope they would have fixed this in the remake. But unfortunately. Nevertheless, I think 2 is a very good remake. One of the best remakes I've seen. Better than 3 anyway. For Capcom, RE3 has always been the neglected child. I do not know why. And you can see that in the shameless remake they made of it. A big middle finger to RE3 fans.
RIP Paul Haddad, the original Leon 😔 😔
I just got the platinum this year for this game. It’s my favorite resident evil.

I killed that big eye at the end , when a knife only. Got that PlayStation trophy for it.
You only hid from mr. X for 10 minutes? damn, you're brave. I probably hid even longer on my first playthrough. Lol anyway nice vid.
lmao, when i saw mr.x i literally said, " yep, im refunding this." but then i couldn't cus it was on ps so I pushed through it with a walkthrough.
