I first played this game many years ago at a friend's home and it ledt quite the impression. Somewhat recently, I was able to pick up the 2nd Edition on Kickstarter and I'm super excited to be playing it soon!
I already did a 4 play mock run alone to get a feel for it (as I have to now teach three friends with the help of your video) and it was a beautiful blend of anticipation and nostalgia.
Thank you for the easy to understand summary of the game. These videos makes it easier to read and understand the instruction book during a first play session.
Finally got this game and we're gonna play it for the first time tomorrow. I love how you give everything we needed to know how to play it, but didn't spoil any of the specifics!

Just finished watching Stargate:Atlantis so this was a serendipitous recommendation! Looks like a good game, similar in some ways to Forbidden Island, might have to check it out. Thanks for the video!
Finally played it, we made a mess of the rules the first play through. But the second time, we did better. BUT both times, we won! Great game, we can’ wait to play again. Thanks for the great video. I don’t know that I understand the power of the Artificer player mat, though. It is not worded very well. I will go to BGG and see if I can figure it out. Watch It Played We played again on Sunday, we won but it was close!! We kept getting sabotaged and losing already built components AND had serious bad luck with flooding. On the bright side, two of the three controlled floods came out in the same turn, so we knew at most we had one left, which we never got. I was playing the Aritificer, so I used the component to unflood and that helped. We followed up with a lighter game of Western Legends, and I lost to my wife (I rarely lose in Western Legends). I was Pat Garrett and I was just not getting any momentum (I resisted the TEN there). Last night I scored 22 in Res Arcana due to the expansion with Dragons and Demons!!!!!!!!!
Thank Goodness for your videos, Rodney. I tried so hard to make head or tail of the rule book, and I am sorry, either I was just too tired, or not patient enough... so... here I am...
Watch It Played We are isolating this weekend due to the peak of the infectious curve, so we are trying to catch up on some of the games I got when i was up in Oklahoma. I am back in Texas, teleworking from Austin.
Great video! I was actually kind of hoping that you would cover the 2 and/or three player counts of the game since if I bought it and played it, I would probably be playing with two or three players. I'm curious if the game plays well at those player counts or if it's best at 4 or more
Hey Cody, I avoid reviewing on the channel, as I don’t feel I can say for someone else what they would or wouldn’t like. So I wouldn’t weigh in on player count preferences. That said, if you’re curious about how it works. The rules to most board games are online on PDF form and then you can check those two pages for the additional rules. Hope that helps in some way!

If you had gone over the rules for two or three players, I could have formed my own opinion of scalability. That's all I was implying. Hi Cody, the 2 and 3-player games play the same except you start with more followers and have to turn over a minimum of 4 misfortunes per round (instead of 1 per player). In the 2-player game you also control a 3rd Leader called the Hologram. You shuffle the unused player boards and whoever is the start player for the round draws 2 from the stack and chooses one of those to be the Hologram's power for the round. They can then place the Hologram figure using its special power and collecting any resources it gains for the round. Ultimately the game should play just as well at these player counts as with more.

Maybe it was just me focusing on my tea and toast lunch but did you mention if there is any way to gain more Mystic Energy? Or is one just stuck with what one starts with? Does maybe some Library cards grant you extra ME?
One of the effects that come with the components gives you 2 volunteers for the next round... are the volunteers only for one round or for the rest of the game?
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!

@@WatchItPlayed there's a component pack which comes with deluxe resources (amongst other things), so I thought you might have used them in your video. Those are impressive looking resources considering they're the standard ones that came with the game! I've just backed the current Kickstarter.
I ordered it directly at Elf Creeks Shopify Site. They have good distribution in europe and the shipping cost are way lower than ordering from the US. Hope you'll get your copy soon! :)
Rodney, can you post a follow-up video detailing how to do the box flip toss? I keep tossing my copy but every time I catch it, it's still a first edition printing. I want it to be a second edition printing when I catch it.
