    I like the quiet thunder of it. Not over-produced like most of these videos, and not cluttered with commentary to detract from what we can appreciate for ourselves. Thanks for leaving us with nature at her best.

    Large part of this volcano collapsed in December 2018, causing devastating tsunami. You are viewing a historic moment, I don't know how many years will it take for Krakatau to get this big if it ever will. I couldn't record video or take decent photos as my trip was very short and tiring. Sadly the beach where people camped for watching this phenomenon is submerged now. Amazing video

      this eruption must be onle 1 or 2 days bevor the collapse

    I think the most impressive explosions start at 13:38 with the sound taking 16 seconds to reach you, all the way to the end!

    The spectacular show I ever seen from Krakatau. I live in cilegon approx 50km from Krakatau. One month before tsunami I can hear some of Krakatau explosion from home (sound like bomb) and the ash of Krakatau reached my terrace. Analysing this video I understand that there is crater leak causing lava flows continuosly. The flow burning and weakening volcano body. Finally with powerful explosion, destroyed 2/3 Krakatau body and causing tsunami ....thank Oystein for the video. From me who shake your hand at Bromo 10 years ago. Appreciate and keep working!

      Mount Bromo back in 2016 was much louder I'd say, could hear rumbling whole night. Just can't stop loving natural wonders of Indonesia, even though these volcanoes can be deadly and unpredictable

      This is child of Krakatoa. Krakatoa got destroyed in 1883 eruption. So, not the loudest volcano.

    • @ysteinLundAndersen
      @ysteinLundAndersen  5 років тому +4

      Not far from as big as it used to be. Its the same volcano, krakatau. Anak-krakatau is just a new part/island of the same volcano.

    • @Ben-99
      @Ben-99 5 років тому +2

      @@ysteinLundAndersen Yeah I know this. Totally fascinated by all things volcanic, especially krakatua for some reason. Just wondered if anak krakatua had grown as big as krakatua before the 1883 eruption.

    • @SeaDickey
      @SeaDickey 5 років тому +2

      Krakatoa stood at 2667 feet prior to the 1983 eruption where all but a small portion of the 3 1883 cones survived the cataclysmic eruption. Son of Krakatoa currently stands at 1330 feet and has gained 300 feet this year...

    • @Ben-99
      @Ben-99 5 років тому +2

      Wow. That is a lot of growth in a single year but some way to go before its as big as 1883. Thanks for the comments.

    • @roythearcher

      Krakatau and Anak Krakatau are notorious for lulling people into a false sense of security, Just when you think you've seen a big eruption she will show you what she can really do and you'd best be a long way away when she does!
      She has destroyed herself in huge eruptions (Some much bigger than the 1883 event,) several times in the past and will continue to do so as long as the junction in the subduction zone beneath her remains active!

    • @mikkolaine4883
      @mikkolaine4883 5 років тому +5

      Most likely as long as it is doing this kind of repeative activity there's no reason to worry about. That tells that it is releasing the pressure all the time so it can't accumulate. The time it goes silent, you should worry about. That's what happened in 1883. Long silence and the volcano throat was plugged with the old cooled magma. The pressure gathered and blew the smallest top away. That released the plug and pressure went down for awhile but at the same time it allowed fresh magma to rise and that mixed with the old one then released the enormous deep high pressure and erupted in such cataclysmic way.

      questo vulcano oltre alla storia che porta da sempre produce eruzioni esplosive di livello 4 o5 per via della sua location.si trova infatti tra due faglie e pesca magma praticamente a getto continuo...questo è solo l'inizio della sua attività che arriverà al culmine in qualche mese. io torno a novembre per vederlo in azione

      L'Anak Krakatau continua a crescere ad un ritmo di 5 metri all'anno e ha circa 300 metri sul livello del mare, alcuni geologi ritengono che un giorno scoppierà con la stessa forza del precedente vulcano krakatoa.

    • @mikkolaine4883
      @mikkolaine4883 5 років тому +2

      Not even close. The biggest explosive historical eruption tho. In historical times Laki (Lakagigar) in Iceland must be in responsible for the deadliest one. Exactly 100 years before Krakatoa famous eruption in 1783 Laki made the biggest lava flow eruption in historical times. The volcano didn't kill people directly but poisonous gasses caused deaths of millions of people world wide.
