I met the royal couple and the Prince was perfect in every aspects: he was super open to everybody and friendly, had huge charisma.

Point being ,even a Queen can think she has a good one ,but until put to the test ,you never really know. But you are right , HER man was ill ,when he done these things, Alzheimers ,takes the ones you love ,sometimes years before you realize they are not well. HER choices were limited then ,but only an idiot could say she was wrong.
This story sounds a bit like Queen Victoria s & Elizabeth shusband s,always a prince never a king. Victoria husband got up and went to work with his wife everyday. In her writings she often said he knew so much more about politics. Her Prince Albert was a very smart man. I think he was able to step in for her often for many months while she laid in bed with one illness after plus 11 pregnancy’s she stayed in bed for any reason she could think of and took opium as her cure& laudum to sleep at night. I bet Her husband told her ministers he wold bring the proposals to her bed chamber because the Queen was under the weather. I think her helped her a lot that’s why his death put her in shock & she spoke to no one out side of the palace for 2 years. All this is younger in cheek from my old brain from books I read more than 50 years ago so it may not be 100% factual but a rounded up account.
