Being British I do not know much of other royal families so thank you for this story, although containing a tragedy. Mabel's dress was absolutely beautiful, the bows and trellis design perfect for taking away the flat look of so many wedding dresses and yet remaining elegant.
I m Dutch and i find it a beautiful dress .Mabel looks gorgeous in that dress and she gave Victor and Rolf a chance. You like it or you hate it.There are so many brides that looks absolutely plain. One ugly ill fitting dress was the ragland dress. But thats my opinion.
She obviously liked her dress and that’s all that matters. Personally I wouldn’t have had the large bows on the train but that’s just my opinion - others may find it attractive. I didn’t like Diana’s dress but again, it’s what she wanted and it was her prerogative to wear what she liked.
In my opinion, the bows got too big and were distracting. They seemed so happy, so in love. He gave up his line of succession for her and died 18 months after a skiing accident. How terrible and sad. The Netherlands is dear to my heart as my mom was from Holland.
I didn't like the large bows! I didn't know Mabel's story, very sad to loose Frisco but I'm glad she and her daughters are still a part of the Dutch Royal Family.
Prince Friso got caught in an avalanche . leaving his wife with two small daughters. He died in the Royal Hospital for Incurables in Putney/Wandsworth , London , and Queen Beatrix used to visit her son regularly thee . The hospital staff did their best, but Prince Friso never recovered conscious ness properly-- a bit like Michael Schumacher
The toile for Diana's dress was on display in a local museum to me and even though it wasn't in that awful silk she chose it still looked terrible - and I was the same age as Diana, I don't remember ANY other wedding dresses as bad as her's despite claims it was ''all the fashion''. Anne and Sarah married at the same time - or within a short time at least - and their dresses were elegant and beautiful. The dress here (apart from the big bows right at the end of the train but it was the brides choice to add them presumably) was beautiful and the bows actually ADDED something to what would otherwise have been a very very plain - but which suited her perfectly - style.
It was her choice and it certainly is a huge improvement on the dress Diana chose, a crumpled mass that overwhelmed her and looked like something a young girl would design, it was frumpy and over the top and the only outfit she ever looked bad in.
It’s hard to say how much control the bride has over her dress. I don’t believe Princess Di had much input on her dress, she wore it because it was expected.
So do I. It's different and the bows add something special to it, they're funny to watch. Not every bride has to look the same, I appriciate an individual choise of dress.😊
At least their marriage did not turn out like Edward viiI (later Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson OR Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! I always felt bad for Prince William, the son of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester; who did not give up his place in the line of succession, before his death (in 1972 ... Bravo to him for essentially flipping off his Royal family and marrying this seemingly lovely young woman. Besides, all this royalty talk is just stuff and nonsense these days anyway. And this bride’s dress was sweet, imo. Sadly, one Princess who could have looked fabulous in a beautiful wedding gown would have been Princess Diana. The person who created that mess of a dress should have had their thumbs lopped off!
That's nonsense. Diana had tremendous input into her dress, and in 1980, it was considered to be beautiful. I was a very young American woman when I watched her wedding on television in the US, and I thought her dress was perfect. You may think it was too flouncy, as many brides now prefer sleeker dresses, but for its time, it was beautiful, and perfect for her.
Beautiful couple! Her dress is very classy and goregouse!❤❤❤❤ 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏They were so happy with their beautiful kids! He went skiing and tragically he had an accident! His life would never be the same😢. @sandrapicton6349 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It means a lot to me. Thank you 🙏
Totally agree with you - she looked lovely and such an unusual and pretty dress

Beautiful dress!
The bride’s dress was beautiful
I agree!
It’s her wedding her pick of dress, she looked happy and beautiful I’m sure she doesn’t give a jot whether you like it or not
The dress was unusual but not awful. The train with its bows graduated to gigantic, however, was simply appalling!
What a tragedy that Prince Friso passed.😢
He’s dead, he hasn’t passed, he died.
Oh thankyou for this important background
A true fairytayle
Even with the tradgedy
A real royal attitude
Such gracious behaviour

I had no idea prince Friso had passed. What a sad ending to a beautiful love story, and such a happy marriage💔.
May they all be at peace.🙏🙏🙏

I agree with what you say about the bows. The small ones were pretty, but the large ones at the end of the train just looked goofy.
Very sad story
Very unusual Gown
I liked the dress except for the very end of her trail. Bows to big should have been left off. The material of the gown was absolutelt gorgeous.
Tragically he had a skiing accident and he passed in 2013
Was it really an accident?
@@mypointofview1111 yes. He was hit by an avalanche while skiing.
How absolutely sad 😢
I didn't like the large bows! I didn't know Mabel's story, very sad to loose Frisco but I'm glad she and her daughters are still a part of the Dutch Royal Family.
I think she looked Lovely. If it was me wearing it I wouldn’t have so many bows on the train. As I said She looked Lovely. Such a sad ending.

I don’t know about the bows, but the trellis look was pretty, IMO.
Sad ending to the marriage.
I don't think her dress is that terrible. Lady Di's dress was terrible 😞
Way too much Cinderella!!! I don't know how Diana walked in it. Pretty but too much. JMO
I agree!,,
I actually love Diana’s wedding dress, I know many don’t.
Diana's wedding dress was what you would expect of a 19 year old, meringue. But then we were all brought up on the story of cinderella
Yes indeed, Diana’s dress was a disaster. Scandals are the result of journalists digging for dirt.
I’ve seen worse dresses - saw Diana’s dress close up and it looked every bit as bad as on TV 😮
The toile for Diana's dress was on display in a local museum to me and even though it wasn't in that awful silk she chose it still looked terrible - and I was the same age as Diana, I don't remember ANY other wedding dresses as bad as her's despite claims it was ''all the fashion''. Sounds like he had a wonderful marriage. Very sad outcome.
It was her choice and it certainly is a huge improvement on the dress Diana chose, a crumpled mass that overwhelmed her and looked like something a young girl would design, it was frumpy and over the top and the only outfit she ever looked bad in.
Loved the dress. She looked lovely. The train was overdone
It’s hard to say how much control the bride has over her dress. I don’t believe Princess Di had much input on her dress, she wore it because it was expected.
She looks lovely. Wishing them a happy life. ❤
He died years ago??
They were happy until he passed
The dress would have have been beautiful without the train.
Considering he wasn't the heir, who cares who he married?
Take a bow, please.
I quite liked the dress itself. The train was a bit much.
It’s a gorgeous dresss
I like the dress.

How very sad--It is so clear that this beautiful royal couple were truly deeply in love......
The dress is ok maybe the bow should have stayed the same all over rather then getting bigger
I like the gown but I don’t like the huge bows on the train. It looks like they got tired of making bows so they made them larger.
What a sad and tragic story. I did not care for the short veil, but I thought the wedding dress was lovely.
The dress is beautiful
Her Dress is tastfull original and I like it his family is supporting him in marrying who he loves :) Hope there Happy togather 🤗🙂👍🌼❤️✨👍
That's a shame
That is the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen 😮 stunning 🤩

Fairytale princess look, I believe the Emmanuels who created it later admitted it might have been OTT but at the time it seemed right.
I felt so sorry for Diana on her wedding day with that crumpled gown.
