Lust, jealousy, betrayal, violence, all the biggest hits. Carmen is a great place to start if you've never seen an opera and this was an entertaining introduction.
I totally agree with you, you have great taste. Some bells hanging from the nose and a clown hat would be nice but you can't have everything... Hopefully they will soon introduce it as a game at Disneyland though. Fingers crossed.
I recommend continuing this collaboration for other operas Which you upload. It is the best way to introduce opera to novice. And this young lady, Mia Mandineau, does perform fantastically here. She is very good.
You are hysterical! I was never an opera fan ( probably because my father was), but I may have to watch more of your videos. You put opera in a new light.
I know nothing of opera, only that I love the song Habanera, I think your pretty and love how you break down and explain the story, and even had humor in it, love your accent too.
I absolutely love this synopsis and retelling of this wonderful opera. I do wish this could be re-recorded with middle school children in mind. So much of it is completely appropriate, but there are just a few inappropriate words and a bit of overt sexual talk. Don’t get me wrong, this is quite tastefully done, I just really wish I could show a bit younger of an audience.
C'était très original et vivant cette explication de Carmen dit donc! Du coup là c'est l'opéra et pas le roman de Mérimée j'imagine...? Les dessins m'ont bien aidée en tout cas, merci!
This is much different from the ballet. Obviously there’s a lot of similarities. But the pacing of the ballet makes it feels as though Carmen is two timing them while this just makes Don Jose seem like a creepy stalker.
Georges Bizet was a French composer so he wrote the opera in his own language. Kinda like some movies are based in different countries but people still speak English.
Dear OperaVision. I think this is a very good idea to make Opera more popular, but If it´s just a summary of Carmen, there are enough other alternatives. I´d be rather more interested if you could find a way to show the deep meaning and the conflict and desire of carmen and tell us more profound insights about that character, and why out of all carmen variatíons, this bizet one is the most popular.
If I follow your logic, couldn't we say they are also alternatives if you want to understand the deep meaning and the conflict and desire of Carmen then? ;) This is rather to democratise operas and present its stories to a wide public via a refreshing approach. And Mia is super talented imo
@@RyoStiegler Hello Tudy. Yes sure, but ... where do I find them? I mean, not just history, but the metaphysical, and psychological explaination and with a deep reason for, why we still need opera these days. And I also think that its a bit redundant to make a summerise of Carmen, when it is directed in a very classical way. (I was 7 years old watching carmen the first time and even I understood the story) And. imo, if Opera is just there to entertain, the meaning of Opera and Art in general isnt there anymore. I´m sure Merimee wrote Carmen with a certain intention, which is more important than just entertainment. (for that we have enough other things in the 21st century. I just want to say that opera got boring to me once, but after I began to think profoundly about the meaning of the plots and the reasons, why pieces are written, it got me again, and so I decided to become an opera director and started to study opera directing in vienna. ;)
This is just an excelent parody, not an introduction to opera. It’s like saying Mel Brooks’ History of the World movie is an introduction to history, or places the comedian amongst the most renowned historians. It’s just a very good gig.
And this is supposed to have an interesting story? The performance, I get, but this is very horny and all the love in it is cliché... Not for me I guess...
This is a bunch of crap. I just find this video & i go to the link to watch the full opera, but it has been removed. Well, you might as well remove this offending video as well.
Hands up if Hey Arnold was your introduction to Carmen in "What's Opera, Arnold?" A far better love story than 🐕 💩 Romeo and Juliet hands down. Carmen is what we call a "trick" and she played with men's love. Very entertaining synopsis as well. 🤣
To be fair, Romeo and Juliet is also more of a tragedy than a love story. Two stupid kids letting childish infatuation get in the way of good judgment and both ending up dead because of it.

O
This is absolutely the fun way to introduce opera for beginners, I definitely highly recommend this channel.

Thank you so much for your nice comment! Actually we will release another video of her on Monday about Don Giovanni, it will be fun!
You are hysterical! I was never an opera fan ( probably because my father was), but I may have to watch more of your videos. You put opera in a new light.
😂
Your funny presentation of this opera has convinced me to go see the show, thank you.
Moral of the story: listen to your mother 🤣
Thank you so ADORABLE, I can't stop crying 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
You did a great job explaining this Opera! It was very enjoyable to watch
Hi, Carmen♥
I know nothing of opera, only that I love the song Habanera, I think your pretty and love how you break down and explain the story, and even had humor in it, love your accent too.
I will see this, next Tuesday in the MET
But I will never forget your funny narration.
It was a pleasure.
Thank you
You’re seeing the Cracknell prediction with Angel Blue as Michaela! So jealous! I’ll be watching remotely in HD 😊
3:41 7:19 *Enough already Mia we get it*
Thank you for this entertaining synopsis, how helpful!

Amazing. Very charismatic, unique way to describe operas, Im actually elated!! keep going girl. !!!
🤲🏽👏🏾🤓 seen this opera at least 3 times in my younger yrs...
C'était très original et vivant cette explication de Carmen dit donc! Du coup là c'est l'opéra et pas le roman de Mérimée j'imagine...? Les dessins m'ont bien aidée en tout cas, merci!
...Maybe I will watch this second opera, that I learned about tonight....
El navarro y la gitana, este chica explica perfectamente
Where can i watch there performance? Please i really need it for our play
Is there a way you could include subtitle for the operas?
well you could turn on captions
I think he meant translations
Just loved it thank you thank you. Sorry you miss pronounce CARMEN. Still very lovely
What is with operas and Sevilla, Spain?
This is much different from the ballet. Obviously there’s a lot of similarities. But the pacing of the ballet makes it feels as though Carmen is two timing them while this just makes Don Jose seem like a creepy stalker.
Do you have your own channel ?
brilliant
The acting and the manners of the blogger are OP. Liked, commented, subed.
Amazing🥰😍🤩
I’ve heard the song that Carmen sang to seduce Don José before but never knew it was from this opera
Where can i get the play's orig vid?
Unfortunately this performance is no longer viewable as video-on-demand for rights reasons
Who played carmen in this video
A wonderful 🎭🎭🎭🎭💐💐💐💐💐🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
very nice Long Story Short ...all my respect
Lully Is the French treasure
the story based in Spain, but why the language is French?
It was composed by French composer Georges Bizet.
Georges Bizet was a French composer so he wrote the opera in his own language. Kinda like some movies are based in different countries but people still speak English.
@@MirandaSinistra ookay I get it, like thanos who is still speak English, right ?
Bizet was French.
And why are we talking about a French opera based in Spain in English!? 🤯
Who is this Ketamine lady
Ragnarok, Spanish Style.
❤
Does carmen uses carmen skills and has 2 Robot males with thorns in their neck
Ah, to be a cigarette worker in the 1800s... /s
🌹 Thank You.
long story short ,,,,,,,love you
Was the video used from a Chinese production?
Aren't you adorable!
what r the Cards
The tarot cards. Carmen is a gypsy and with her friends she uses tarot cards to read their future.

Speak for yourself! Novice me appreciated this tenfold!!
Great summary! Gracias!Although I didn’t like your pronunciation of “Don Jose” 😄😄😄
This is just an excelent parody, not an introduction to opera. It’s like saying Mel Brooks’ History of the World movie is an introduction to history, or places the comedian amongst the most renowned historians. It’s just a very good gig.
It's pronounced don Hosé i think
In Spanish it is but this opera is in French
And this is supposed to have an interesting story? The performance, I get, but this is very horny and all the love in it is cliché... Not for me I guess...
2 hours and 40 minutes long for an opera of 4 acts.
This is a bunch of crap. I just find this video & i go to the link to watch the full opera, but it has been removed. Well, you might as well remove this offending video as well.
how come all the perfomers are represented as Philipinians?
What the hell are you talking about? That's a Chinese production.
That woman is obnoxious.
Oh non pas elle, c'est tellement gênant.
goofy ahh
your video is great, information-wise, but i nearly stopped watching because of your cringe „jokes“
Don't be so ungrateful. Mia is brilliant. Where's your sense of humour.

I think Bugs Bunny was first for me, Arnold was probally 2nd or 3rd. After that I do remember the Beyonce one
