I love your long story short videos, and the only reason my 7 and 8 year olds could enjoy Carmen at Arena di Verona this summer was your video as a preview for them. One suggestion I’d like to make is, could you please make a kids-friendly version where such terms as “sexual vibe”, or “rape” are either deleted or euphemized? Your video already is super kids-friendly in terms of how they are easy to understand, so there are absolutely no need for reshooting, but a bit of partial dubbing will likely do the trick. As you have noticed, this is not at all trying to criticize, but an attempt to enjoy your video even more with kids. Thanks!

Est ce que c'est lié et si oui, dans quel sens allait l'implication ?
Oh, c'est lié oui.
C'est une symbolique manichéenne vieille "comme le monde" qui se retrouve dans pas mal de mythologies.
Ça va s'enraciner dans la vieille angoisse nocturne de l'humanité: on a plus vite peur dans le noir qu'en pleine lumière.
C'est d'ailleurs le propos de cet opéra: l'obscurantisme superstitieux du moyen-âge vaincu par le savoir et la philosophie des Lumières du siècle éponyme.

@@franfy2914 Parce-que ce sont deux astres "opposés" dont la signification se perds dans la nuit des temps.
On peut imaginer des hypothèses sur les raisons de personnifier la lune et le soleil par une femme et un homme.
Comme lier cycles lunaires et la grossesse, la lune qui comme le giron de la mère en devenir s'arrondissent petit à petit.
Et l'homme le soleil parce que... bah, va savoir! C'était l'autre Astre.
On peut imaginer les rayons symbolisés par des lances, des traits qui sont des symboles phalliques et liés à la chasse, donc à l'abondance.
Il y a aussi une bonne dose de phallocratie qui remonte à va savoir depuis quand !
Même le Siècle des Lumières avait sa part d'ombre: regarde le sort réservé à Olympe de Gouges !

It's explained in the third act of the opera. Pamina's father (the deceased king) made it from an oak that's a thousand years old.

The Magic Flute is a nasty child custody battle between matriarchy and patriarchy in which patriarchy wins. Pamina is graciously allowed to be Princess Consort in a world dominated by men instead of growing up to become Queen of the Night herself. Hooray. 🙄

Great explanation! The Queen of the Night was meant to be the villain in 1791 terms, but in 2023 terms she's the actual victim. She was denied her right to power and to own the Circle of The Sun because she's a woman. The opera repeats the notion that women cannot decide on their own and will always need the guidance of a man. The Queen of Night wanted to destroy that idea and revoke Sarastro's authority (This is referred to as the 'superstition' in the opera). Eventually even her own daughter turns against her in favour of keeping the current social norm of inequality and oppression.
Pamina is basically the Rose Bride from Shoujo Kakumei Utena!
