Anglican Communion, a church founded on Biblical injunctions, foundation and Praise unto God. Our heritage is extremely spiritual, melodious through hymns, canticles and chants in accordance to the book of Psalms. I pray we don`t lose this heritage of hymns, melody and chants. It`s second to none when you talk of soul lifting melodious hymns. Plz our Anglican Youths should wake up and follow the footsteps of our parents. This footage and footprints laid shall not be allowed to wipe away. Weldone Guildford Cathedral Choir and the man posting these chants online. God shall bless you.
It is written: PSALM 92: 1 "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound."
😯 " It's all personal!... I'm drawn more to ' Anglican ' Choir music. However, countless Others are uplifted through Gospel and Contemporary Christian music for praise and worship. So long as We're praising The Lord is all that matters. Therefore, in the words of an old saying, ' to each their own ' . "
I am too. My parents, grandparents were staunch Anglicans. We went to Anglican colleges, a tradition we still keep. The Anglican hymns give you all the strength you need through difficult times.
What a glorious heritage of the Anglican Church! Having grown up as an Anglican, with my parents taking their baptismal vows seriously, we sang the Psalms every morning and evening until the day that my father went home to be with the Lord.
The Psalms, the Canticles and the hymns, are the greatest heritage of the Anglican Communion, without it there's no Anglicanism. Recently, this has been relegated to the background in most Anglican churches in my country Nigeria. Praises and worships copied from the so-called Pentecostal churches have taken over, thus diluting the authentic way of worship. To God Almighty be the glory, we still have it in this form here.
There is a real art and beauty to Anglican chanting, both singing and accompaniment, one which most parish churches in this country could do up until the end of the 1990's.
I'm so blessed listening to these truly heart warming chants oh how I long for them as they seem to be a thing of the past here at home in South Africa
I'm very glad to hear these music. Music is life in this our time. To praise Our Heavily Father always with beautiful songs of music. Thanks million times for your ducmentries.
Ti is very beautiful and glorious praise riches song I herd, it gave me hope, peace, and strength and walk with faith to God, And makes me even love God even more and more everyday of my life. It open the eyes of my spiritual soul to see things and change me. To become a child of God. Please pray for me everyday. I know in my heart when you pray for me. God will always remember you. And retting in the book of life. Because I have seen a book of life. Thank you in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I asked. Amen.
So spiritually edifying! The beauty and dignity of the speech rhythm is brought to the level in which its consumption is made easy, even for non choristers!
There is no way of displaying so much text with a UA-cam video that lasts for more than an hour. However, each of the component psalms, together with its text, has been uploaded separately on this channel. Alternatively, see justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/1928/Psalms1.htm
Wonderful...............is it possible at this stage to include time/cue to help navigate the various psalms........especially if one does not have the time to listen to the full collection in one sitting. Thank you fr your time and effort...............does the heart good. Every blessing on you all .Amen.

When you sang the psalms, what resource did you use? The Hymnal 1940?
The St Paul's Cathedral Psalter, together with chants collected from various places.
I am so lucky to have attended services in the late sixties and heard the beautiful singing in person.

Immediately struck that the Garett chant is the same one used for the famous weather forecast in anglican chant.
i like psalm 73
It seems to us that the chant fits the words very well.
@@ArchivesofSound You can always fix the pointing if it doesn't! But you mean the tenor of course.
