I love/hate the free size because sometimes I don't fit or doesn't look flattering on my body type/shape. However I think it's nice because say me and my friend bought the same shirt but when we wear it, it won't look the same. Like, maybe it'll look cuter on her but on me look edgy. That might be because of the way we style it differently or the shirt just fits us in different ways, yet it is still the same shirt in the same size.

Since the staple food of Koreans is rice, bread is considered a snack and made sweet. I want to go to a foreign country someday and try unsweetened bread.

I totally agree on the sweet issue. I went to Korea about 15 years ago and remember trying the local burgers (not-US chains). The burgers were overall very good: excellent meat, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, fresh buns. However, the pickles were always sweet pickles. I love dill pickles in my burgers, but have never found a use for sweet pickles. That being said, I did find a lot of places that had very good espresso drinks, with what I thought was a good coffee ratio. Hopefully you can find places that make them to your taste.

As always, I love the video 😊 As an European, I had also troubles with the water in Korea. I had break out on my forehead quite often. After 1 week back in my country, all my pimples disappeared magically 😅 I am not sure if it is the air, the pollution, the water or the sugar everywhere in the food but there is definitely something different. I was also shocked by the cheese that was sweet sometimes, the non-existing raspberries and by the bread and chocolate quality. I avoided the European food as much as possible there. Fortunately, Korean food was delicious 😇 Now that I am back in my country, I am happy about all these differences because it makes me less sad. I already miss living there and will definitely come back to see my friends in the future (but I will be on a tourist visa next time, which will be hell 😆). However, noticing the differences allowed me to appreciate my life in my country even more. Each country has its good and bad sides, and it is what makes travelling a fun and interesting experience 😊

In Korea, the number of people living alone is also increasing. unlike the western And in Korea, bread is an image that is sweet. Because it's not staple food. But It's wasn't originally, Under the influence of a famous chef Much Korean food is getting sweeter, so there are voices of criticism. North Korean defectors often criticize South Korean food for being sweet.

My ex was Korean and his mom made me spaghetti once. I choked down the first bowl, told her it was good, and then told her I was full when she offered seconds because it was SO SWEET. Like, disgustingly sweet. I made a comment about it to my ex (away from his mom, of course), and he insisted spaghetti is supposed to be sweet. He said that's how Italians made it. My mom learned to cook from her Italian grandmother, so I KNOW spaghetti is not supposed to be sweet, but he was convinced that it was. I dropped it and have never eaten spaghetti there again. ><
And 'looking good', as well as couples culture... I completely know what you mean, I feel SO self-conscious in Korea. I genuinely enjoy my own company, but I feel the pressure to look nice and be in a large group of people in Korea. Traveling alone there is so difficult just because of the pressure to be in a group/couple. And the fact that nothing fits me and ppl are always evaluating your appearance (or at least, that's what it feels like) is just so judgmental, and I really do dislike that aspect of Korea.
But you know, I still liked living in Korea when I did and I enjoyed many aspects of being there. It's just that there are always a few things you can dislike about living anywhere, and I think you pinpointed the ones in Korea very well in this video.

    Hey girl, hey,
I can't wait to come back! I've been craving that garlic soup.
So a few things to add: Trazy does food delivery, but you have to order before 1 p.m. I found that out the hard way when I had a latenight craving. Also, the Hyundai department store in the shopping center below has a variety of different food options. That was my go-to in Gangnam.
For female lazy wear, I did notice like a unique style with oversized fluff sweaters and pajama pants with tennis. It was an odd combination but pretty stylish at the same time. The tenni shoes with everything seem to be a thing. They do that out here in Koreatown as well. Their stores are far different and more conservative, especially at Zara. So, that was my only hiccup because I'm not used to being that restricted to my clothing. But ladies, if you have a foot size larger than an 7 1/2....good luck!

    • @MeganOsten
      @MeganOsten  2 роки тому +1

      All of the garlic 😭😍✨
So Shuttle is different in every area! But their hours were limited (but some places in Hongdae opened at 11am).
Really good points on the clothes - ESPECIALLY the shoes! Sometimes I found shoes at H&M but that’s it…

2:51 Megan, you must have bought that garlic bread from Paris Baguette. Yes, it's sweet. People are used to it however and once the taste buds gravitate to the blah, sugary taste, it's hard to move back. Another pet peeve: how come there is no solid cheese, only sliced cheese? Why is dairy so expensive? Where is heavy cream or half & half? Where is pepperoni, salami, corned beef and pastrami at the so called deli? How come there are no frozen vegetables or leafy greens like spinach, collard greens or kale? Inquiring minds wanna know! Why is the bathroom so cold in the so-called "ondol" heating system that Westerners rave about? But how do you put up with the bathroom that is freezing? Yes, inquiring minds wanna know!

personally i havw no complaints about korea... yet. but when i move there maybe i will find some. i also love that everything in korea is sweet idk why but i think its nice. i grew up not eating a lot of salty things so when i eat foods here in america i think its way too salty and unedible for my taste sometimes so i like that foods are mostly sweet or umami in korea than salty~ haha

Yes I was excited about my Doritos and Cheetos chips and took a bite into sweetness and was shocked. My korean friends recently moved here to Atlanta where I currently reside for the mean time and they tell me that everything in America is too salty lol. And to the BTS army out there ... I now understand the Run episode about the mint chocolate chips. I was excited about the mint chocolate chips ice cream and well in Korea it taste like mint toothpaste not like the mint chocolate chips you're used to in the USA.
*My opinion isn't meant to offend anybody. Remember we all are raised in different cities and countries so we just aren't used to certain things. It doesn't mean i couldn't get used to it. It was just a surprise that's all. Even food in America is prepared differently from California to Georgia.

All Korean food is too sweet. So I'm putting salt in my mouth to make it neutral. Even the snow falling from the sky seems to be made of sugar.
