When we went to check out the new Solar stuff with Ola it was literally the very first one I saw but I said nothing because I wanted to see Baena’s reaction haha It was very hard to be a quiet boi about this for so long but I’m glad we can talk about it now 👌🏻 such a dope guitar.
He did legit keep it a secret. We all even tried to get it out of him and Johnny right after he came back from the Ola thing. #goodguyBaena #goodguyJohnny
That guitar sounded really sick and evertune is kinda must have thing for 7 and 8 string guitars in my opinion so nice to see more options on that area in market.
Regarding the comments about the pickups -- Duncan Solar =/= Seymour Duncan. This was pointed out by Ola Englund himself in the past. And regardless, it doesn't even matter haha, the whole point of saying that in the video was that I was saying the pickups are already really good and the only reason I would swap them out is to further support Seymour Duncan...
That sounds right I think, again he did a video about this very subject on his channel, people can look that up and see for themselves what I am talking about haha
@@BaenaCarcosa He did mention it in the same video, the Duncans are his "signature" set which are modified Seymour Duncan's. You can't call them SD designed or originals, it's a whole different brand. I hope we see some more in the future
@@BaenaCarcosa Well at least he put "Solar" in there and didn't call them "Duncan customs",that would confuse people even more. Faaaaaahk, this just shot up to POSSIBLY the top spot on my favourite guitars of yours! I don't know if I like it more than the neon green Ibanez you have - AND I NEVER THOUGHT ANYTHING WOULD COME CLOSE! The sound is absolutely off the chain!

Awesome video! I am waiting on mine in the mail!! That made me more excited.... not sure how I feel about that 64 though given that currently I have a 74 on my other 8 string.. is it that loose? Also, you really captured Olas style in the clean and lead section. If I wasnt watching the video and just heard it, I would've guessed Ola! Great vids as usual, keep them coming boss!
I really want to get this 8 string but I don’t have $1400 :/ It’s crazy that the 8 string in basically the same model as the 7 string is twice as much as the 7 string!! Just bought a nice Legator Ninja R8 though and got a sweet deal on it. I want my next guitar to either be this Solar model or the ESP 608B in red. They’re the same price so still not sure.
Andrew! Do you think reverse head stocks add any tension to the bass strings? Part of me wants to think so, but another part thinks it wouldn't matter much after the nut. Just wondering your thoughts. I finally bought a 7 with a reverse, but it's my first baritone, so its kind of hard to compare to my 25.5" 3+4 7s. Keep up the content bro!
In my own experience it hasn't seemed to have given my strings any noticeable extra tension, even with my Agile 8 and it's super long reversed headstock. Just my 2 cents!
Gabriel Palmer mine is an agile as well. I love the guitar, and I do think a reverse head looks better on an extended range vs a regular inline. I really like this agile! TOM bridge and Grovers...holds tuning really well. I would buy another for sure. I wish more manufacturers offered TOM bridges these days...I am not big on the hipshot style.
@@6slayer6sam62 Agile is honestly great man, I've been loving my 3 I have. Got a standard 6, an 8, and a masterpiece of a Septor 930 and they serve me well, especially my 9. I'm curious about these Solar guitars tho, they look rad.
Gabriel Palmer I'm very impressed with mine. My local guitar shop is a fishman dealer. Think I'm going to have him order me the TA set for mine. I plan on buying a passive mount agile for a pickup shootout that's been years in the making. I'd take their 9 string over any other tbh. They're gorgeous. Have you tried 18v modding it?
@@6slayer6sam62 I plan on digging up an EMG 909X for a bridge replacement in my 9 string myself once I can afford it. Definitely plan to 18v mod it directly after as a matter of fact, I hear a bunch of people highly recommend it for 9 string playing. Never tried it before though. Any extra clarity and punch I can get out of my low C1 the better.
I know I'm late to the party but there's something I've been wondering. Doesn't this guitar require fanfret? As far as I know, 8 strings should have fanfret.
You said that the tension is pretty loose on the thinner strings but can't you tighten them up just using the tuning pegs since the tuning won't change?
It says this guitar ships with BLACK SMITH 09-64 strings. Checking their website the only 9-64 is a 7 string set. The two 8 string sets are 10-74 & 9-80. Can anybody confirm what the exact replacement pack is? Thanks.
Hey man I know this is an old video but since you've had both, would you recommend the solar A1.8 or a GOC Vajra 8 for Drop E? I'm just a bedroom guitarist and would not be touring. Thanks!
Hey mate, I'm in Australia and have basically been sold on this guitar just from this video and your what if suicide silence tuned down video, but how is the neck? I have an Ibanez Prestige RGD7UCS and I know the neck won't be as thin as that but how is it compared to say older Schecters with the chunky style neck they had? Will it be acceptable for someone who prefers a thinner neck? I won't be able to play this guitar before buying it so I'm just trying to get an idea before dropping 2300aud. Thanks mate.
No difference really but each Solar guitar has its own personality. I've owned an s2.6, S1.6 , and an E2.6 they are all pretty much the same but they each have their own mojo.
Loved this video, I'm looking forward to buying that beauty for myself, I was just wondering if I could fit an 84 gauge on the lowest string, do you have any experience with that?
I muted spongebob for this! That’s how important you are to me

Great review. This very well may be my next guitar.
Just got my AB alien abduction shirt, and then this video comes up. I love how the Galactic Pegasus riff just hits you in the beginning of the video.
Thank you so much!

Lol
God that is a gorgeous guitar
I like when he is about to play any leads he always puts his own PSA in there!
I'm not a gamer, nor a guitarist, but the initial thought I have when seeing it is: 'this guitar needs to be a battle ax on some badass online game'.
I wonder if there'll be a new Rocksmith, I'd be cool to be able to play extended range guitars and bass.
great video mann, love Olas guitars, i want the S1.6HLB
This has heavy Ibanez meshugga vibes. I can dig it

Duncan is a different brand from Seymour Duncan. Ola said it himself
Nope. Has actually nothing to do with Seymour Duncan.

Whatever those settings are, I love the lead tones you demoed.
The shape and headstock reminds of Fear Factory's Ibanez signature model guitar made for Dino
Dino plays a different brand now tho
I loved this guitar. I need it in my collection like rn.
Daamn, awesome sound, killer riffs!
Awesome video review, Andrew! Great riffs and great tones! 👍👍👍

ooooooo man that sounds soo sick! That jam you played in the beginning was also sick. Great video dude

Beautiful beast of a guitar!
Ola Englund is creaming his pants rn
Very thorough video. Thanks!
That tone dude ! DAMN !!
I want that so much btw those pickups are seymore Duncans
Ola has said it a few times that they aren't though.
Maybe I'm gonna wait the multi scale fanfret on that '
fanned frets are a merchandise gimmick

Thats "The Guitar"!!!!
My dream guitar
Can't wait to grab this in two months hopefully get here soon hehe.

I want a lemon seven so bad now
Josh Campbell I want a lemon 6/7 with a trem
Your tone is killer.
That thing sounds monstrous. Must have.
7:52 is that a sudden nose itch I see?
Good job man. Love the humbleness but you play well.
¡Jesus i love your videos and your guitars!
Andrew... sewing your videos lately makes me consider getting an 8 string down the road. Great video man! 🤘
man I bought an 8 string last week, and I honestly don't think I will play anything else.
Small correction: it's not a neck thru, but a set neck
So Andrew.....I gotta ask....u say the 8 string has a “5 way” blade switch, but I only see 2 humbuckers. Is that for coil-splitting?
Yes

This is the guitar most Own, the one I want learn to play it looks BA and it shreds
"I'm not the best lead guitar player" *plays a sick lead part*
Come on, Andrew, you're amazing!
Great looking guitar, but the cutaways on 7's + 8's don't go all the way up to the 24th fret. Bummer. The 6's do have that feature, though.
Andrew has the best reviews
That headstock is one of the most sexiest among all 8-strings

Yes, there is.
Why tune down I want an eight string so i can get maybe more orchestra type of sound and maybe play classical riffs
Does it have two truss rod or just one?
How does the neck feel on that? ( Bulkiness )
