      70 degrees is the average daytime temp. At night it averages about 50. Thus, you don't need heat nor air conditioning! Growing season is year-round in the Andes mountains, so the cost of produce is very low.

    I was in charge of sales for Latin America for over 20 years. Ecuador is on the top of my list. Cuenca is where my distributors main office is and I’m seriously considering getting a home there. The only other place I would consider is Antigua guatemala. It’s closer to the usa in terms of flights but there many Europeans living there and the housing costs are very high. I believe Cuenca is the place for overall advantages

I like that fireplace in the center of the living room! super cheap! How do you find these people to interview? Who's the woman narrating? Man, $8 for water?!? unbelievable!! I was in Ecuador for 3 months working on this project so I had the chance to meet many of the expats there. Out of everywhere, I've been, I think the expats in Ecuador and Cuenca are some of the most friendly and welcoming. Does the electricity get cut out all the time? I’d say it just depends on what you’re looking for in the end .

    • @LivingOverseasTV
      @LivingOverseasTV  5 років тому

      Ruth Malony, I think it would be hard for you. With that being said, I know some people that have breathing problems and have adapted to the higher altitude without a problem. You may be able to visit a mountain town near you for a trial to see how your body handles the thinner air. Keep in mind that a couple of weeks at altitude your body will go through a lot of adaptation and it will be easier.

    • @triaticnomadics1108
      @triaticnomadics1108 5 років тому

      Hi Ruth, you might consider visiting and see how the altitude affects you. If you still want to move and the mountains don't work for you, you might consider the coast. It is dry and does not rain a whole lot.

      I don't think it would affect the country directly. The use of the American dollar as official currency what it does is give more steadiness to local economy so we DON'T have to worry about money exchange and crazy overnight inflation. If that happens, I hope not, it would not affect us directly by any means.

    While Comparing Cuenca Ecuador to Medellin Colombia which is best city to relocate according to your point of view. I had searched a lot both but could not find the exact opinion. Could you please help in this regards?

    • @LivingOverseasTV
      @LivingOverseasTV  5 років тому +2

      Very good question. It depends on what you are looking for. Cuenca is at a higher altitude so it is much cooler most of the time. It is also much smaller so it has a small-town feel compared to Medellin. Medellin feels much more like a big city and has a lot more of what a city has to offer both good and bad. My short answer is if you like big cities than Medellin Colombia is a better choice. If you like family-oriented smaller towns, than Cuenca may be better. The best thing to do is to go visit both to see which one is right for you. Next year we will start putting out some videos about Medellin, Colombia.

    I have spent enough time in South America ( not Equador) to highly suggest not to purchase anything you can not take with you for at least 2 years. A high percentage of expats leave within 5 years, and many earlier if they do not speak Spanish.
