Number 1. The MC-21. Awesome styling & much more modern. If it wasn't for the war in Ukraine, even Airbus would have reason to worry.

Sanctions are doing Russia a favor. Now Russia, which is rich in energy and minerals, will be forced to produce all the parts for its industry by itself. Before the sanctions, it was easy to buy all this cheaply and, above all, without effort. Sanctions will force Russia to develop domestic industry. Of course, there are problems, as in every beginning, but I think they will be overcome quickly.

Every time I hear about sanctions, I just wanna know what genius thought that they can isolate and do any harm to the country which went through World War1, revolution, civil War, World War II, Loose over 60 million people in those four events, at the end of all those events be Victorious, ….. And a cherry on the top of the cake: Became second country to to create nuclear weapon, became first country to create first ever nuclear power plant, launch Sputnik, send first man into space…. OMG Russian thrive on sanctions s Sanctiona make them stronger…. Why would you even sanction a country which has an entire periodic table in its ground?

If Russia can make highly advanced, unstoppable hypersonic missiles the US and NATO are just dreaming of having, and the most advanced fighter jets like the Su-57, what is the big fuss for them to design and build commercial engines and planes ???

It's economics. Production lines and supply chains are a complex issue. On par with actual technology. Economics prevent you from setting all that up if there are already established and efficient competitors.
But when you absolutely force someone to either step up or have no air travel, well, suddenly it's in the interest of the entire country to solve the problem.
Similar case is with China and advanced chips. You can't expect a country with 40 million engineers and 2 billion dollar trade surplus PER DAY to sit on their ass and give up.

Part of the decision process in buying new aircraft is the expectation of what price you can sell it for when the time comes. If you buy a B737 Max airplane ✈️ for $130m. You are probably looking for a resale price of $30 m - $40m when the time comes to sell it after 22 years. So if the MC21 300 is available domestically in Russia 🇷🇺 for $73m, what would a resale value be after 10 years? It could be interesting to see how this aircraft can drive down prices in the second tier market.

Why talk about EU certification when it is not being sort by Russia. Russia will be hard pressed to build enough aircraft for its internal market place let alone providing an aircraft for external parties. That said this aircraft along with the Chinese C919 is likely to be sold into BRICS plus group members and the additional countries joining BRICS in the coming five years. The EU market is the honest of Airbus and Boeing and will never be a key market even into the future.

Boeing 737 biggest weakness is its short undercarriage being a spinoff of the ancient 707. This doesn't allow them to install large diameter high bypass engines like the MC-21 / Airbus A320 / Comac C919 can.
But it will take Russia years to get MC-21s operating in large numbers.
All the stuff about being dependent on Western parts - that is a bit over the top - All Russia's military aircraft are 100% local parts ..... so its just a matter of adapting those to civil use.
The problem they will have is keeping the weight down as they introduce all Rus components. But they will sort it out - you are talking about people who build and operate space stations ....

For comparison, the Aeroflot (Russian main airline) transported a total of 25 million since its establishment in 1923. 11889 Boeing 737s were produced. The total number of fatalities involving Boeing 737 is 5779. The number of most produced Russian aircraft Tu-154 introduced in 1972 was 1026. The fatalities involving Tu-154 were 2911.

Nice opportunity for Latins Interregional services, exceptionally good price (as compared to Boeing) . less fuss with the name (Boeing), Inter Caribbean Services with this plane should be a real assets for both , the owners and the passengers. And something but not less...................Russia is becoming a FRIENDLY and RELAIABLE , names! aaahhhhh! with business in between the BRICS countires, it seems that any deal will be CORRUPTION FREE!

I like this. There are small points I would argue about, but the video seems to be unbiased, despite the current notions about whatever Russia does.
I personally likes this plane, it's so slick. And I really hope there's a bright future for it. Tu-204 was a great plane with so many innovations in Soviet industry, but it was developed in the wrong times, couldn't compete with western planes. Don't think it had worse performance, but financially old western planes and leasing were much more profitable. And, well, Airbus and Boeing had much better maintenance network, and Russia couldn't support the production in the 90s. Things are looking better for MS-21 though.

Even the China's new COMAC C919 just shocked everyone too same as the Russian new MC-21 also, China and Russia for relationship countries. Oh wow, I wish Indonesia can make commercial plane by it self just like China's COMAC C919 and Russia's MC-21 for the future. This Garuda Indonesia with it's subsidiary Citilink and Pelita Air could use commercial plane that Made in Indonesia as Indonesia wanted to joint China-Russia relationship countries.

Tampaknya Indonesia masih mustahil bikin pesawat.

Russia is accomplishing their self-sufficiency goal. Russia, with its vast land size needs over a thousand passenger aircraft of assorted sizes and models to service its domestic requirements. Once the aircraft companies could utilize 100% indigenous components, they don't need western aircraft parts. Russia's substitution program is addressing the problem and is developing solutions. Russia is not interested in foreign markets until they filled their domestic markets requirements. Maybe it will take a decade before Russia would even introduce the MC-21 even in air shows. My 2 cents.
