Do we actually want equality? - Bridging The Gap - The Unequal Classroom Karim is currently producing a six-part series on mental health in diverse cultures, along with a series highlighting an extraordinary primary school in Maastricht and a new program called ‘Villa Ramadan.’ His documentary work, including series such as ‘Geloof In Het Onderwijs’ and ‘Karim Pakt Zijn Kans,’ has sparked significant reactions. Karim’s advocacy for diversity and inclusion is evident in his articles, workshops, and masterclasses, earning him the Compassion Award in 2018, and he has met Their Majesties, the King and Queen, several times for his work. He is also ranked in the top 5 of the media community’s top 100 this year. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Thx a lot for this. I remember my childhood was very stressful and we never visited anything. I was a late born child, my parents were close to get divorced and life was a constant struggle and fighting at home. My siblings had my parents ten years earlier where they travelled regularly and my parents had more money. My siblings got higher education, I failed. This might not be the reason, but what you say makes absolutely sense to me. And I recognize how my husband who is a mechanical engineer can´t even imagine not to be able to pay for sth. I´m so happy for him he doesn´t know this stress. I absolutely feel you about the employees in that store. My collegue knows I´m vegan and he mentioned a few times how bad my food looks (like salad or oats with soymilk) and always give me disgusted looks, almost even when I´m eating water melon. I never, in the whole time I´m working here, mentioned anything about his food and how it is kind of full of sugar or animal parts. Never. But he looks at my plant based food with his full disgust :D
