Alot of times black people are misdiagnosed due to health related differences that professionals are unaware of due to the white-washed education they received that caters largely to a white audience. This is what systemic racism looks like. Which is why it's so important for medical professionals to recognize how illness and symptoms of illness physically manifest differently for people of color. Like bruising and identifying skin cancer, for example. Lack of adequately diverse education can not only cause misdiagnosis, but can oftentimes lead to outright dismissal as we see in Claudia's case. Malone Mukende, a second-year medical student at St George's University in london, realized his medical textbooks lacked representation for people of color - so he wrote a handbook for doctors to use. Joel Bervell is another med student making online videos for doctors to use that deal specifically with this issue. So, there are bright people who are aware of this and working to fix it. We gotta lift these people up. ❤

How long are we going to keep making and accepting excuses for the poor, inaccurate, lacking, and often disgraceful medical care we as black people... especially black women, receive? It's an excuse! If they gave black people the same care, attention, time, understanding, testing as others, we wouldn't be here today. This is just sad, ridiculous and pathetic!!!
@@JM-qg9bo AGREED. I think your point speaks to the larger issue of systemic racism in this country. People of color not only do not receive the same quality of care as their white counterparts, but are often times being misdiagnosed because of the white-washed education they received that caters specifically to white people. I've seen numerous reports of doctors being unaware of or just unable to recognize the differences. Specifically, for example, how the way illness or symptoms of illness manifest physically differently for people of color -such as bruising - which leads to misdiagnosis and sometimes even outright dismal! The point I was making, was that there are bright individuals who fully recognize this inequality and are actively participating in bringing about change, however big or small. That's what gives me hope. Mya Angelou said it best, "When you know better, you do better". Also, often times we find when look at history, that too many people are afraid to admit they knew the truth all along, but looked the other way in spite of the fact. Our young leaders that up and coming are so bright, and you can tell they authentically care in empathic ways previous generations did not. At the end of the day I believe we all can agree that the promise America offers should extend to all of us. That's the day this country TRULY moves forward. ❤️

I agree about restraining orders, I had to get one on my ex and it was a joke. I remember at that time I just lived a couple of blocks away from police station. My ex was acting up and showing up at my house to start stuff, despite the restraining order. I would call the police who took their time showing up and my ex would take off brforevthey got there. They wouldn't arrest him because he was not there when they eventually got there. This happened every week and got crazier each time. He would even show up at public places and my job to threaten and start mess. I finally had to move out of town to get free

I have never put my child in the care of anyone other than a trusted family member because I have heard stories from almost all of my exes about how their baby sitters, teachers, neighbors, and child care workers have violated them. They just never said anything because they liked the attention. But it creates a sex addiction in people later in life. Especially males. You have to protect sons from sexual predators just as much as daughters.

Having too little insurance can be a death because you're not covered for the things you need. That's so scary. I have pericarditis with seizures. Everytime I'd run back and forth to the hospital 💬I couldn't breathe with chest pains, too being told I was having a panic attack 😂😢. I was also told for 12 years birth control can't cause seizures. To that's exactly what was causing my seizures therefore making them more severe certain times of the month. I was also put on medication for permanent nerve damage switching me back and forth different side effects for 9 years to be misdiagnosed. I've learned so much since. Be your own advocate.

I was just told I did thave rhumatoid arthritis per x-ray and doctors experience. Then finally he said let me do one more test mri & blood work came back lupus and rhumatoid arthritis, the extreme pain episodes had to be coming from something other than my regular arthritis

I have a friend that had Lupus and has been diagnosed several times with different diseases, cancers,etc and had none of those other than lupus. Smh. She said sometimes when you have lupus it can show up as other things unfortunately😢
