Welp...I waited, got married, had a baby, and divorced shortly after. Father chooses when he wants to be present...not ideal, but here I am, a single parent & crushing it! Not selfish, let folks be happy with what they choose to do🤷🏽♀️💞
I'm not sure the issue is that simple. A woman can be more than capable of raising an amazing child alone and successfully being the sole provider. Yes fathers can choose to walk away at any given moment but to never even have the opportunity at a relationship with the other parent is a different story. Some kids may not have a care in the world but the majority will wonder & crave the relationship/love from a nonexistent parent and are really affected with real emotional issues. Im sure no one selfishly chooses this route but I think it's worth considering the child and the lack thereof no matter how bomb of a single parent you may be.
The same thing happened to my cousin. Dated for 5 years, married at 38. Then divorced by 40. He hasn’t seen his child is 3 years. The child will be 5 in a couple of months.
Here’s the thing from a man’s point of view. From experience I love my little girl but I don’t like her mom. Everything is an argument and she tries to regulate how and when I can parent. I asked for my little girl for the summer and mom says that was too long. I can get her for the weekend. She moved 3.5hrs away. I’m not driving to spend a day. Now times are hard and she asks me to get her for the summer I said no because I had a plan in place when I suggested getting her. I call my mom to explain the situation and she says bring her to me THE GRANDMA. I call her back and tell her what my mom says and she says no and hang up on me. Then called later to argue. I blocked her.
We love the kids. We don’t like the moms. When we leave it’s usually cause of y’all high energy and anger. Not all moms but most.
I got a coworker who wants to see his kids and mom has turned the kids against him. He moved to the state she moved to and she still won’t let him see the kids but takes the child support and says it’s the kids choice.
I hear yall conversation but I know it’s deeper than this simple post you made.

I'm from Detroit, MI. For 7th and part of 8th grade I moved to AL where my family is from. The difference between northern city lunch and down south lunch is night and day baby! In Detroit you got some Bosco sticks or some pizza or whatnot but baby in Alabama you had some big beans, corn bread, fried chicken. For people who are upset at Ebony, let’s be real how many active fathers you know that are in their kids lives right now or ever? It’s almost normal in the black community for us to be fatherless. Ebony is of a certain class and financial status so that child will be fine. not perfect but fine. What bothers me more are poor folks out here having multiple kids that we cannot afford that are just adding to the slave working class and none of us own ish and ain’t changing ish and are hoping to be rich off of hoop dreams and being a rapper of influencers. And just because a child is born with both parents there, doesn’t mean that the father will stay. A lot of them don’t . My son is fatherless due to being murdered. I didn’t ask for that ish but it’s what it is. You think I wanted to be a single mother??? I just feel like we should wait until we’ve lived out our lives and are financially stable and responsible enough to have kids. Everybody shouldn’t have kids and that’s me included smh

Also factor in children who are born and the father dies before their birth. She has the means and the familial support to help her raise her daughter.

This happened to me when I was 21. I was pulled over for speeding I didn’t have a drivers license and when I was arrested for driving with no license I was given several tickets and my license was suspended (yes, the nonexistent license). At my court date I was instructed to get SR-22 insurance and to keep it active for a year and the suspension would be lifted but this meant I had to actually take and pass the driver’s test to get a license. That is how that works
