I had a bad kick back awhile back and I understand your pain, no broken bones , but a nasty cut, scar and severe bruising. It occurred while not using my riving knife, now I always use it, I suggest using one on your table saw, I enjoyed your video, time to build mine. Thank you

I need to check out the drawing software, I have looked at it some, but haven't heard of mascut sounds like a fun way to sketch stuff up, I have been using a pencil and pad most of my life. I use the same face straight guide as well. I have a squirrel fan in my attic, I have had it several years, I have used it as a fan a few times, but this may well be the ticket for some air in the shop as well as a filtering system. There is a plug-in for exporting the data. It is not maintained anymore as the author died but it still works. I don't remember the name off the top of my head but I will look and let you know.

Basically what I did was search for the model number and see what I could find. I am very much not an electrical expert. I ended up hoping and plugging it in. Probably not the best idea. But it worked. It's actually probably too strong for the filter but can clear the room in a matter of minutes. I found several posts around talking about fan motor wiring. I can't remember the specifics but you should be able to find it relatively easily.

If I had it to do over again I would allow for thicker filters (more filtration) and I might make it to hang so where the filters are might be a little different. But overall it works great and I've been happy with it. It is heavy.
You could use any sort of metal grid, chicken wire or screen or fencing and cover the container with it. Then ground that "cage" using a rod driven into the ground. That would do amazingly well. There is also an RF blocking paint that you could use but it is really pricey. Hope that gives you a starting point.

I just found the table saw blade that bit my finger for the very first time, while I was cleaning my garage up today! I was looking at it for a few minutes while remembering that whole incident. I'm going to hang it on the wall over my work bench like a piece of art haha.

Ha! I do have a mouse. I was just in the shop with the laptop and needed a shot of the software but I didn't take the time to plug in the mouse just for the shot. Believe me I cannot stand to use that pad. In fact I use a trackball. Thanks.
I don't remember specifically. I basically designed a box that the fan would fit in and then looked at filter sizes and picked the closest one and then made sure the box would fit the filter. So it depends on your fan size.
Man if I had a kickback, I’d be adding a riving knife anti kickback pawls. I’ve never had it happen but I imagine it’s pretty sobering. Glad you’re okay!
I'm blown away when I consider that a $300-500 air scrubber only moves about 150-300 CFM while a $200 Rigid squirrel cage can will move 1,625 CFM. Multiple filters will indeed reduce that number but running them in parallel will help mitigate that power loss. I think I just figured out my new dust extraction plan.
Should have made the fan outlet about an 1" smaller all the way around (including the 4"? lip of metal) on that size fan.Those fans are made to push air,they'll work harder and overheat with no back pressure.

All these videos are beyond deceiving. Great work, but definitely NOT $50 if you consider the fan, filter, lumber costs. Just a good set of Merv 13 filters can be > $50.
In the video I say the fan was free, the filters were super cheap ones and not high quality at all. It literally cost me exactly what I said. So I didn't deceive anyone. Lumber costs more today than it did back then but still...

I did put that one up above the joists. It would also work hanging.

I believe the red, yellow and blue are the speed adjustment wires for low medium high.

It's been working for over a year now and hasn't had any issues overheating. Info to consider for next time though. Thanks.

Your table saw needs the riving knife reinstalled. It prevents most kickback events.

I didn't have one for that saw. I since have gotten rid of that saw and have one with a splitter on it.

Just a comment about the Squirrel Cage, call your HVAC guy he will probably give you one if you remove it from the air handler.
