I went in to my local Royal Enfield dealer and they only had a few left and place was busy. It's great to see people buying these bikes up and Royal Enfield getting the recognition they deserve.

This bike is everything I need. Nothing more and nothing less. I sold my 2019 Triumph street scrambler to buy the Himalayan. It was the best decision I’ve ever made with Bikes.
I use it as you said as an everyday bike.

If I were to get an ADV bike, the Himmy would be at the top of my list! When one is off road, one wants a lighter, more basic bike. If you drop it, it's easier to pick up. If you need to fix it, you can; you can fix it anywhere in the world. I don't see how a tech laden, big beast of a bike like the Harley Pan America or BMW 1250 GS could be good for serious ADV work. They have rider modes, for goodness sake! Their cockpits belong on the Starship Enterprise, not a serious ADV bike. The virtue with the Himmy is that, if you're in the Himalayas or the Andes and something goes wrong, you CAN FIX IT! Even if you have to go to a local bike mechanic, they'll be able to fix the HImmy; I don't know if they could fix a sick GS.

We have 2, not yet fully broken in. That said. these are truly the Peoples' Adventure Bike! This isn't my first rodeo, as they say, and I'm shocked at how absolutely bedrock-stable, comfortable, and confident the bike feels. The ONLY complaint I have is, the stock brush guards aren't up to snuff, so pop for something with points of contact. Where I live in the States, we have multiple tens of thousands of forest roads, not to mention all the single track available, and so far, with the right tires, the little donkey hasn't balked at anything except freezing rain. I balk at that as well! THIS is an exquisite ride!

I had the best fun of my life on my Honda CG 125, You had to ride it properly using the gears and laying on the tank for speed, I aso had powerfull bike but didn't have the same appeal to me, I have just orderd my Himalayon to have the same fun as i had on my 125 with a little more power, your review hits the nail on then head, thats exatly how I think riding is all about, Thanks, GB

I have a green camo Himalayan. I like cruising the Sierras up here in Northern CA. It tractors up and down all of the steep fire roads and trails. I got mine for $6,200.00 US out the door including tax, license, and fees. I like the way it drives and looks.

I love your videos, it really gives me an appreciation for "slow bike fast" - where you are riding a bike for maximum enjoyment as oppose to high hp bike compensating. Well done man. These Royal Enfields are a real joy.

I live in the Andes and own a 2021 Himmy. I love the bike, but was curious of how it compared to the Ninja 400 so as to get an idea of the engineering. I looked at the Dynos of both bikes concentrating on the common 2,000 to 6,500 RPM range. The most significant difference there, was is on the low end of that range. Of course the Ninja has a 12,500rpm range but I was only interested in looking at their 400cc commonality. The Ninja at 2,500 rpm starts at 2.5hp and increases rapidly to 8hp at 2,800. Not a good characteristic for an off road bike. The Himalayan on the other hand starts at 8hp 2,500 rpm and increases to 8.5hp at 2,800 rpm. Extending the slope backward to 2,000 rpm and it looks like the Himalayan still has 6hp where the Ninja does not even register.
Basically the Ninja design gives you no power at any rpms under 2,500 Where the Himalayan is quite powerful and torquey right from the 1,300 rpm idle. The Ninja at 6,500 rpm is producing about 26hp and the Himalayan about 21hp. Looking at the Himalayan from that perspective, the engineering makes a lot of sense. All the power is concentrated into the low rpms to produce a slow, slip free tractor-like pull from idle, while still providing highway capability.
The Himalayan’s design makes a lot of sense if you simply look at the big picture from an engineer’s perspective. It is designed for 3rd world conditions, cheap, economical, rugged, attractive, and workhorse at slow speeds, with highway capability. It will do anything you ask of it, including traveling around the world. It is not designed to be extreme, but rather sufficient, fun and dependable for people on a budget. Most of the roads I ride on, are full of potholes and a lot are unpaved roads so most of my riding is between 10 and 30mph. But it is mixed riding, today I had to ride up a rough and long 30 degree walking path under load to get to the highway, where I then brought a passenger to the nearby city. There are no bikes out there that do that as well or better than the Himmy does. It is, and looks the part of a classic true world adventure bike.

You've summed the bike up so well.. right out the box, crate it works, by design from the ground up.. over any competitor it has the 21" front wheel, decent suspension travel and though not adjustable, than rear preload, suits where ever you ride and any rider.. just like the riding position, an the fact most any person can flat foot.. well jobs a good one.
How I returned to riding, since last on a bike.. KE175.. in the mid 1980s.. then 30+ yrs something.. LOL..
I've the Gravel Grey too.. UK. Euro4/BS4. 20 on 21 plate. just turned a year old the 7th... and yes, miles of cracking smiles so much fun.. feel half my age.. 33 again.. ;

That sounds just like the US! Everyone is in to big bikes, fast bikes, high horsepower bikes. I mean, they call an 883cc Harley Sportster a GIRL'S bike, for goodness sake! When I was growing up, a Sportster was a big bike; it was something you worked up to, not started out on.
I think that our host appreciates more practical, economical, and low horsepower bikes because he uses it daily; it's his transportation. It's not a toy for him. I think that changes one's mindset.

Big bikes are always fun but i find everyone i know that has a big bike never rides it only ever on the odd weekend to this day ive never seen someone daily ride a harley or 1000cc sports bike! Plus they drink gas like a car does so theyre only really made for fun not for an everyday ride i find alot of people dont understand that!

I recently traded my 2022 Honda Forza for a Himmy. The Forza is a great bike but four things made me change. 1) Keyless ignition - utter pain in the arse, 2) To do anything on the bike, you need to shift a TON of plastic, 3) Valve adjustments by shims, 4) Honda refused to sell me a workshop manual. I want something simple like me

I'm planning on getting the DNA high performance filter and breather cover in the future. I thought I won't need the old plastic breather (air filter cover) so what the heck I took a Dremel tool and cut a hole in the cover over the nipple part that plugs into the air filter, not bypassing the filter . A poor man's DNA breather cover. Now I have air going down the throat of the filter not having to make a 90 degree turn to go into breather. I can really feel a difference with more air getting into the fuel injection. It pulls so much better going up hill. Before when the speed started to bleed off I'd give more throttle and basically not much would happen, After the homemade mod I can actually feel it pulling and I can maintain speed or even increase speed on all but the steepest hills. No it don't turn it into a beast but it gives a noticeable improvement.

I like all of the Royal Enfield range. I think that the new Himalayan 411 Scram would be an ideal around town bike. I would worry about getting a puncture off road with the Himalayan though, because of the tubed tires.

So long as you don’t air down your tyres you should be fine.
Remember you only have about 2-3 inches between and good time and a pinch flat or damaged rims and a ruined day.

Recently I was in the Nelson area and saw several of these machines. All muddy or covered in dust! I live on the Coromandel and am wondering whether they might be just the ticket for shingle roads and avoiding huge drop offs!!

This model bike is made on the same principles
as the Suzuki Van Van & the Yamaha TW.
It's practicality is what makes this bike wOrth Owning.
The compass works once you set it.When you change directions it is purposefully slow to save the reliability of the mechanism.

Waiting for the Scram to hit Adelaide. Wonder if the 19" front wheel will make much of a difference on dirt roads.
Based on the reviews I've seen so far, the smaller wheel just makes surmounting large obstacles, like fallen trees, more challenging off road; for dirt roads, the 19" hoop is fine.
Yeah mate cant wait till it hits nz shores aswell it looks like a fun little beast! I think itd be a little less capable off road but itd still be a great little bike for an adventure!
I really wanted this bike but at 6 feet the klr was a better option especially since I do freeway riding. These thumper are simple plug and play easy to work on machines. The himalayan is beautiful.

I am 6"3 and the Himy fits great .A booster plug, Hitchcock's cam and BMC filter and it will now hit 82 mph.from the stock 72 mph a truly impressive power gain for very little investment.
The cam is the key .The filter and exhaust do little without the booster plug and especially the cam because they are so lean to begin with .Turmed mine into a much better machine.

I have just fix my luggage on my 2021 Himalayan for a 2000km trip crossing Germany. I like this bike but you have to change at first the seat for more comfort.
I am new to bikes, and test rode one of these... I think it will be what I purchase. :) :) :)

Everyone has an opinion. It’s simple. While I did not watch your video the answer to your question is this. It’s cheap. It’s dependable if you maintain it. It’s easy to maintain. And it’s fun. If that’s not reason enough I don’t know what is. I love mine. Bought after a trip to Nepal where the bike is coveted for by the locals. And you sure as hell won’t get a 3 year warranty from BMW or the like lol. Have fun riding.

Yeah mate! I had so much fun blasting around on the gravel when i finished this video i did another one on another gravel road and got it up to 100 click which is bloody scary on the gravel but heaps of fun! Haha youll needa get one!! 😆

Fastest I went on shingle on Interceptor was 85kmh but the shingle was soft not hard packed.Looks like a super fun bike.

Looks like a great bike. Just what I want, but still, I live in northern U.S and maybe get about 5 months of bike riding weather. I have an old Honda Shadow which I take out into the woods but I can't take it a lot of places. This would be perfect. Maybe eventually.

But the 450 will be liquid cooled. For this kind of bike, simpler is better; simpler includes air cooling, as there's less to go wrong.
@@markymarknj the lack of a Liquid Cooled Engine is one of the things I enjoy about the Himalayan over the KLR 650 (my previous bike).

Had one. Handles wonderfully on tarmac. Not the bike you want to try to go off road on unless just plodding around on gravel roads. Ground clearance terrible. Like one of my pals said, it’s a novelty bike.
I felt it handled pretty well offroad maybe not the harshest tracks but ive seen some pretty serious offroad riding on one of these also the groud clearance is pretty standard for an adventure bike isnt it? Maybe not compared to a full blown dirt bike but for a bike that can do both i say its pretty damn good buying for the money

Bought one, use it for work , have done throughout winter. Find myself using it all the time now. Any excuse to head out in it. Have a yamaha thunderace 1000 which I've made ready for the good weather but the himalayan is such a good comfy bike I may just sell the litre bike and go for an r7 or maybe one of the other enfields
One point the battery is crap. Was working away got back to workshop 6 days after I parked up at 12 midnight and the bike didn't start. Had to jump it from a battery pack to get home. I've 1200 miles on it and counting.
Nice mate they really are a great everyday bike! I bet that thunderace moves though! And yeah mate if you find yourself not using it much might be good to go to a smaller lighter mid range bike! Ive heard great things about the R7
Luckily the battery is easy to replace mate! I dont think i will have much issue with it as i ride every day but itll catch up on me soon enough!
@@roadblastmedia I've been watching reviews on r7 but to be fair I am really like the enfield. Their new bobber looks like one that would be worth waiting on. I think the litre bikes are great but I'm kinda getting to stage were I wanna keep my licence and the police are getting worse.
I had a Himalayan but it was full of issues, it's electrical subsystems always let me down. Once I had to bumpstart it in rain on a highway. Sold it last year. Hopefully new ones have these issues ironed out.
That sucks mate! Must of gotten a dud ive known of a few with well over 50000kms and no issues to date apart from general maintainence! Im yet to have any problems on mine i guess we will see

Not bad at all i ride everyday at 100km very smooth for a single the classic 500 is very vibey for comparison
Obviously it will have a bit of vibration compared to bigger bikes with more cylinders but it actually surprised me how smooth it was for a single hope that helps mate
For a single very good.
You can for sure ride at 100 km no worries, a little vibey and after a lot of miles gives you a bit tingley fingers. So I prefer to ride mine at 90 to 95 which is pleasant

@@roadblastmedia seriously it’s easier to find yourself speeding on the Himalayan than either the interceptor or GT. Maybe it’s the way I rode it. I have about another 2000 Ks in mine so it’s a good deal freer to spin up.
