@@stefanosprokopis3917 Just no Stefanos.. absolutely no. '93 DY is arguably the absolute best version of him, and possibly the greatest Mr O at that showing. I reckon '93 DY would beat the best Ronnie and Heath imo.
Ya , actually bodybuilders were trying to push themselves to the extreme at that point of time. They were not only trying to grow exponentially but also compete more often. Their thought was exercises are good for the body so carrying it out all year around would give better results & the body would adapt to grow better & bigger. Unfortunately, too much of anything is bad. Such monstrous amount of strenuously invigorating exercises & demanding regimen can only be attained for a specific period of time by any human body. They didn't know exactly what that "specific time" was. So many bodybuilders just realised it the hard way that their body parts/organs would just snap under that much stress & strain. It's not like the body can keep growing infinitely if you feed & exercise it more.. Some died, some had fatal injuries & fortunately some corrected their methods after minor damages..
These were the years I was pumping the iron as a teenager. We watched this (and the next ones) Mr. Olympia on VHS some weeks later (I'm from Eastern Europe) and we wanted to be like these monsters. Good old times. Vince Taylor Robocop bruuuh. Great sport. Great memories.
2:36 Dare I say Ronnie looked better there than he did in his highly regarded 98 and 99 performances. He was similar to Lee Haney who is one of the GOAT's.
What an incredible lineup! So man stars. So many great physiques. Ferrigno comeback was also a massive highlight for me as a young (18yo) fella. Also, when Ronnie Coleman's face and head still looked "normal".
That line up was so deep that just being on stage was an accomplishment. Lou is great guy and he looked great. That had to be one of the absolute hardest Olympia to judge, one of those competitions where everyone looked so complete that the tie breakers were personal taste of judges.
Loving the throwback videos nick. Great to see you still checking the comment and seeing the feedback. Content reminds me of a time when you were just starting to get a good following and you and luimarco were the channels I watched most. Keep it up, your own contest and all. Shit is crazy
I thought the same thing.. I'm from New York and grew up around Italians, and the term Momo refers to an idiot; a real piece of work (not in a good way)...loool
Man, great job on the video. I had forgotten how incredible Kevin Levrone looked back then! He was amazing. Just one thing stood in his way, Dorian. 💪🏾
@Connor Kent Eating is what causes that. GH causes bodybuilders to need insulin and because they are on insulin they can eat tremendous amounts of food.
It was a fantastic show to witness live and momo was a true freak with all that mass in such a short frame. Lou was a monster when I stod next to him. Very happy as a 20 year old guy at that time to be at that show and I was living in the same hotel as the athletes and it was a sceen eating breakfast among them at contest day. Will never forgett.
Awesome vid Nick. Lots of good historical points and pictures. I still have the Flex magazine where it was reported that Momo Benaziza died. One of the things I read earlier was when Momo beat Dorian at the Night of Champions it was in part because of his back. That motivated Dorian to work extra hard on his back and the rest is history...
I remember that you’re well. It’s so nice hearing you excited about lose come back because I remember watching that as a fan and being excited myself. He was one of the most massive men ever to take the stage.
Lou Ferrigno was a physical specimen at this olympia lol. The embodiment of physicality, not necessarily overly aesthetic or a "mass freak" like you see now.
Lou was looking to be placing much higher, and the comparisons with the top guys weren't just for the audience, but he had an accident backstage partway through the competition where he cut his leg badly enough that the stress completely changed his physique by the time he stepped back onstage. Even Dorian supposedly later said that he viewed Lou as one of the biggest threats at that show prior to the accident. I may be wrong with this as I am struggling to find much information online supporting this, but this was definitely the story I heard. In any case, it was an incredible Mr Olympia!
Ben Aziza was a legend at that time a true legend... and Lou Ferrigno looked BIG and BEAUTIFUL and also had CHARME much more than all the other competitors, but the lineup was tremendous...and Yates looked really BIG...
This was my favorite Olympia too with all that you had mentioned followed by 1993. All those guys in the top six and beyond had such crazy conditioning. Looking at Dorian hitting his poses will always make me go holy sh$$t! 🤣
You just scratched the surface. Great video, btw. What a lot of fans don’t know is that Ferrigno was training for McMahon’s ‘92 show. Now, David Dearth had some interesting insight about how and why Ferrigno switched back to the IFBB. And Wieder would always do anything for the big man, even though Wieder punished Dearth and those other bodybuilders who went to the dark side.
Great video. The ‘92 Olympia was the first one I watched (besides Pumping Iron) when I first got into bodybuilding. Everyone’s conditioning was sharp across the board compared to the years that followed.
Gosh, this brings back great memories being 20 years old back then. I'd say this was Dorian's 2nd best Olympia look ever behind his peak look in 1993 before he started getting injuries altering his look in biceps and other shots. Lou looked great for a comeback and, as you said Nick, improved the next couple years. Stacked lineup to say the least with solid bodybuilders like Sonny Schmidt, Vince Taylor, Danny Padilla and Samir Bannout also dueling. Taylor was the 3rd place finisher in both 1989 and 1991! I think the placings were about as fair as ever for the 1992 contest though I remember some saying Levrone being 2nd over Ray and Labrada was being generous. I don't think so as Kevin came in shredded and spectacular even though he wasn't his biggest. But he matched what Dorian did the year before with a runner-up placing. Bodybuilders still looked like bodybuilders in 1992. No guts, plenty of symmetry and proportion with good size. Even Coleman downsized looks really good!
I remember this i had it shipped on a video tape and was amazed to see Lou Ferrigno in that Hercules shape but no one doubted that Dorian was gonna win but everyone were really fantastic Kevin Shawn Momo everyone really gr8 Mr.olympia
I think Lou looked phenomenal in the 92 Olympia especially after all those years off. Greatest comeback ever! I think had he come in 15lbs heavier he would have placed higher.
Always wondered why Lou Ferrigno didn't enter the 1976 Mr Olympia & so on & now I know why it's ashame because he probably would have won an Olympia mmm interesting !!!
Heres another interesting fact. I think that Momo gained 25lbs of muscle for this Olympia. He was a bantam weight less than 5 yrs before. He had the first example of distended gut that Id ever seen for this show. I wonder what he took?
Dorian set new standards for conditioning in 92. And everyone was shredded to the bone because it was the first time in 9 years Haney wasn’t in the contest .
Yeah I remember, my mullet kept growing from the hgh
Hair Growth Hormone?
Lmfao
Definitely wasn’t a good look 😂
Dorian Yates‘ Hair -1991- lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
An eye patch is a tie breaker in my book. Two bodybuilders with the same score, the one with the eye patch should win.
The 1992 Olympia was awesome because none of them were 8 months pregnant
Luimarco
Just saw you at a Pokémon video who are you
😂😂🤣🤣👍👍🎯🔥
Just Some Guy without a Mustache ..........8 months pregnant??🤨
Dorian was about 5 months...
I am very impressed how Lou looked. Especially in the back double.
The 90s was an insane time for bodybuilding 🔥. A lot of the top bodybuilders nowadays wouldn’t have stood a chance
After seeing the young picture of Ronnie at this Olympia, I’m really starting to see the resemblance of Ronnie to Patrick Moore
Moe's Bingo!
Sir Patrick Moore?
Bet no one expected Dorian to become such a monster in 1993
He looked better in 92. His gut was bigger in 93.
@@stefanosprokopis3917 no.
Stefanos Prokopis we can say the same for damn near every mass monster. They get bigger but so does their gut.

Lou ferrigno was a monster at that show.
That 12th place must have made him angry and we wouldn't like him when he's angry.
Lou was huge
Jerry rusnock jr ........agreed 💪
Frederick Jones 😂 LMAO
Jerry rusnock jr ......yes ALSO a monster of a gentleman 🏋🏻♀️
Ben Aziza did 7 shows in like 10 months in '92. His body couldnt take it anymore
how you can you deal with being off season and on season if you compete 7 times in 10 months !!!!
Ya , actually bodybuilders were trying to push themselves to the extreme at that point of time. They were not only trying to grow exponentially but also compete more often. Dorian was 242 that year. He lost a lot of size in the final weeks of his preparation, but made amends in future years when he came in much bigger.
Dorian the type of guy to lose some mass on purpose to become absolutely peeled.
Yep, and 257lb's for '93
Ronnie Coleman looked his BEST there!!!
Nope...2003 & 05 (296LBS) @ 3% Fat.
2:36 Dare I say Ronnie looked better there than he did in his highly regarded 98 and 99 performances. He was similar to Lee Haney who is one of the GOAT's.

He made his comeback ten years too late. He should have competed in 82-83 when he got in amazing shape to play Hercules.
He did look amazing in "Hercules" ! He should have placed higher in this also.
Dorian looked AWESOME!!!
2:38 Ronnie looks so good!

Stretched linea alba causing a permanent split in the abdominal wall...symptom of massive gh abuse.
