Welcome to the ShabinLife channel here on UA-cam!
We’re Dayna & David and we're excited to share our homestead journey with you. We currently own a home on a 1/4 acre in a suburb of Pennsylvania & have been trying to maximize usage of our small plot to it’s fullest potential. In 2016, after dreaming for years of owning enough land to live a more simple and sustainable, self sufficient lifestyle, we acquired 18 Acres & began the journey of building our future homestead! Our land is quite far from where we currently reside which limits our trips to the property to once a month or so. For the time being we post new videos (or at least try, lol) once a month with updates on how things are moving forward, our pits and peaks as well as sharing all the priceless info we’ve learned from the amazing channels we subscribe to here on UA-cam. Please join us on our ShabinLife adventure as we continue Living Simple & Loving Nature.

You did everything very well . Good explanation on everything and your train of thought . Double checking before just going for it with the inspector is a great way to not have to do things twice .
I usually am NOT a fan of videos where the work is already completed and the person is attempting to explain what he or she did, HOWEVER, I have to say your video is, by far, the best "explanation after the work is completed" video I have ever seen in all my many, many years watching and trying to learn on UA-cam. I understand now, EXACTLY, how I will be plumbing my tiny cabin/house after watching this video. You are the FREAKING MAN, for real, for real! Thanks a million for this one!
Keoni, thanks so much for the message and kind words, greatly appreciated... especially after a rough day of work off grid!! I'm glad the DWV video was helpful & wish you all the best on your build. Thanks again & have a great weekend!
One of the best video explaining rough in plumbing 👍
Thanks very much, greatly appreciated!
Well done, good clear explanation of how the system functions. While a pain filming I’m sure, it certainly was helpful to see the above and below level views.
Thanks Bob, very much appreciated!
You really good at describing in detail with simple English. And You are right ! There's plenty of videos out there that one can see , but your is ones anyone can actually learn from. thank you my guy.
Thanks Jose, greatly appreciated!! Hope you have a great weekend & thanks for checking out the channel!
Lot of info ..thank you for being so simple..
Keep up the good work
amazing explanation and visual (as a teacher) I give t an A+++. I have plumbing issues, so I was researching trying to understand the plumbing system in a visual, so I can understand what the plumber is talking about. The plumbing industry has its own vocabulary so when a plumber explains with their vocab terms a regular customer, like me, has no clue what he is talking about. This video helped me to visualize and ask the right questions before I decide to spend thousands of dollars. Thank you!!!! God bless you and your family.
Thanks a ton for your video. I'm embarking on moving my kitchen sink over a few feet and need to redo the drain/vent locations and your walk through super helped.
Wow man. Glad I found this video
Good job! Plumbing for 51 years and a code inspector for 32, you got the green.
Thanks Bart!! Thumbs up doesn't exactly come around often here on UA-cam so I greatly appreciate it!! Hope you have a great week and thanks again for checking out the channel!

The inspector made us insulate all red Pex whether in the crawl space or in the wall. Also would not all a horizontal line like he did in the kitchen. Also had to put clean outs on all drains.
You have good odea to keep water supplied home uncomplicated. Peace & Love 💕
Avoid bug speckling automatic dishwasher, aquarium, and trash compactor ; but only if roach bug specks displease you. Peace & Love 💕

Great video, lots of points were mentioned, Thank you
Thanks very much & no problem at all!
Great, thanks
Thank you for the brilliant explanations. and no one else does such a great job of showing us and giving dimensions for each piping connection. The lighting is great and you don't whiz by something or skip over something. Very well done, please continue to show us amateurs how you are doing the waste lines, no one else even tries to do a good job, as you have done. Thanks again QED The only question I had was, it looks like you concreted the bottom of the crawl space , why was that done, it is nice though and you can stand up in there, not many like that..
Hey Charlie, thanks so much for the message & my apology for the delayed response. I'm a bit of an amateur as well (at least in the area of plumbing, lol) so I'm really glad this video has been so helpful to everyone. We poured a slab in the crawlspace for a couple reasons... most importantly for ucc code when using superior walls as well as moisture control. However, it's been very helpful in regards to working down there as well as holding a small bit of storage. Hope this helps a bit & thanks again for the kind words. Have a great weekend!
Your end of the line clean out should extend to the outside, floor level, or in the wall so it is Is accessible. clean outs in crawl spaces is against code.
your video is VERY GOOD . your worlk VERY GOOD . I love to do plumbing . and I thank God for who invented the pvc lol . I download your video . Thank you so much for this video
Thanks Lannes, much appreciated!

thanks Bro!!!!
Love this video 👍awesome you made it with such clarity 😅thank you very much 🫡
Clean and nice work. Some ideas...They make a spacer for the toilet flange so you can set it to the floor height and install prior to finish floor. "Tile buddy". That LVL have screws or bolts? Seal up the holes. no cheapo fan for bathroom. I would run the vent in kitchen to near the top of roof. Perfect place for ice dam and if a metal roof could tear it off with ice or snow. cleanout near exit point.
I am building my house and this was the right time to get help, quality to the point help. thank you very much . love it. how do I get your other videos .I become a fan. as an engineer love you explain the points.
Thank you
Nice crawlspace, sweep up that concrete and you can roll around with a shop creeper for doing any maintenance. Wish I could do mine that way. Oh, never mind, looks like you are standing upright in there.
Thankyou good job
Thanks Jean!
nice work brother :)
Thanks for the great video, very good info and camera footage. Also it was very..... Straight Forward 🤣
Thanks Jack, much appreciated! Yeah, we should probably turn the "straight forward" into a drinking game, lol. Thanks for stopping by & Happy New Year!
You save me some money Today thanks you
You got another subscriber man. you make better videos and explain better then the pros.
Hey Roberto, thanks so much, greatly appreciated!!
thaks . sir..
I really like how you broke down everything you were explaining and the time you took going downstairs so we could get a clear understanding of each part you were talking about before moving on to the next thing; even when they were in the same room. And... you did it without editing & splicing your video. I felt like I was walking around your house with you. I wish I was because I would've loved to pick your brain. My mom is having her drains redone & because I have work a little in construction, I was picked to be the one to talk to the crew. They put a 3" drain in for the kitchen sink. I thought it was supposed to be smaller. Because of what the head guy originally had told me about what was part of her original problem. But, the crew used the 3" anyway. When I asked about it, he said it would be fine. Please tell me what you think. I'm hoping to find out before the inspection & concrete for fixing the floor is scheduled.
Project im on right now luckily the stack is close by
Very nice work, well planned. I believe that you may have been able to vent the toilet using a 2" Vent.
You can vent the whole bathroom on a 2” vent. National code.
@@lorenzoboasi2606 Yeah, it's bullshit! wait a few years. Lol
@@marqueemark5917you okay???
First of all, thankyou for taking the time to create this video. Secondly, in my opinion you did a good job on the plumbing layout and connections.
I'm a licensed builder but not a licensed plumber but here in SC I am allowed to do all my own framing, plumbing, electrical, and hvac work on this new home I am building. I watched your video because I had a few questions regarding plumbing vents. Some of the comments were helpful but a few I disliked because they came across as condescending.... eg.- the one fellow that criticized your gluing and purple priming work. Basically, he was justifying the exorbitant charges to his customers because he could prime and glue pvc perfectly. I smell bullshit.... I'm sure he was a "union" plumber....
You are just like most people, wanting to save money- that's great! Nothing wrong with that at all!
I've reached the conclusion that the differences of opinion are due to differences of code ( UPC vs International code), what region of the US you live, and if you are from Canada vs the US.
Believe it or not, in SC, in most bathrooms you can put all the fixtures on a 1 1/2" vent. I know that for a fact because I talked to a local plumber who's been doing rough ins for 40 years. They go by international code here. Thats not to say I would do it that way, but thats the minimum ( based on the average bathroom llayout). I'm sure on larger bathrooms it would be 2 or 3 inch. I won't go less than 2 inch vent for a bathroom. If your on a tight budget though it would be okay
Bob, thanks so much for your message, greatly appreciated!! Definitely comes down to some differences in code for sure (especially since we passed with flying colors, lol). Plus, I'd like to see those guys/girls applying primer to pipe in a dark crawlspace, in the middle of winter at 0 degrees outside... something's tells me theirs might be a bit messy too 🤣! Thanks so much for checking out the channel & hope you have a great weekend!! Stay well.
Thanks!
Correct one of the best video I seen too would like to work with you one day
thanks..
