Got jumped by 5 bandits 3 minutes into the game, while still being level 1.
9/10 would try again
I love how lethal everything is. Most games let you kill wolves and bears like nothing but realistically most people would be lucky to just survive a wolf attack let alone kill it. Great game so far !
Of course most normaly most people whould be happy to survive a wolf attack... but normaly wolfs don't attack humans... so... yeah.
I mean... this very hostile wildlife is also just fantasy...
Most wild animals whould stay away from a human... expect they are very hungry and could not find any other more fitting meal... :D

@@Taricus Nah. You can fuck up a wolf quite well, I reckon. They only really know how to hunt in one way. Dunno why i'm gonna write this out, but fuck it, random knowledge! They intimidate you into running, that's their plan, then they bite the shit out of you as you run, so you bleed down. If the prey simply stands its' ground and does not run, the wolves pretty much have no idea what to do. Of course this goes for larger prey, but I think it'd apply to humans too. Point is that wolves aren't really combatants as much as tactical hunters. If a an animal simply stares at the whole pack and tells'em to fuck off, the entire pack will be like ??????
This game is so damn promissing. Its so hard to find a satisfying and immersive rpg nowadays and this one is definitely both. I hope they pick up the pace of adding content and expanding the world.

My feelings exactly, I purchased the game already, even though I'm usually very against early-acces, but this one got me so excited I wanted to help.
I played the demo already, but I want to wait for the full game until going at it.

They just expanded the game, fixed a lot of bugs and balance issues. Also added new boss and story, added 2 skill trees and reworked the other.
It's worth keeping on your wishlist at least.

aim the bow dude! =D just clicking to attack with it is like a hip shot, gotta use the skill that ups accuracy as long as you have some distance.

the graphics and artwork really look like some fairy tale happy place, butterflies and stuff, really nice. . . . wasn´t expecting a hard core rogue game, 10/10
Man I can't wait for the game to be released, I'm sadly one of those people that waits for at least a version 1 release lol. Though I have been tempted many times on purchasing because of these videos.

I used to love this channel, it just popped up again so it’s good to see you still gaming.
I played as Arna/Maiden Knight in my first play through. Early game was nightmarish, i couldn't 1v1 properly. Late game i destroyed everything. It was so rewarding, from a scrub who couldn't win 1v2 fights to own over 10 enemies at once without even sweating. Greatsword(Claymore), Combat mastery, Strength based. Archer is also good, combined with athletics. I haven't played the other two.
Here's a tip. When you are in the woods, move from tree to tree which will occlude part of your vision. Move slowly to the next tree, one tile at a time. When you see an animal that normally runs when it sees you wait, if it is alarmed, which you'll know by question marks over the head, back up towards the tree you came from. If it is not alarmed, rt click on yourself and select shout. Did this until it becomes alarmed. Back up to the tree breaking line of sight with the animal till it is right on the tree, then run around the tree, several times, with each motion breaking line of sight on the mob. I don't know how many times you need to do it because the stealth system isn't fully in yet but about six should do it. Stop moving and wait a turn, the mob should now move to a tile just adjacent tip your character. You can perform a surprise attack on it and it will go into hostile mode without moving allowing for a second attack. If not, let it run away and wait a bit it might come back if you keep shouting from outside its line of sight.
You can pull multiple things from line of sight this way, be careful because it can get packs of wolves, bears, or bandits.
I can understand and agree why they made exp not be obtainable by hunting down helpless animals and cooking their meat. If you want to level up, you have to do specific tasks for people or face actual dangers, which bring the element of risk into it and is more interesting choice than trying to get exp from everything around you, so you can get better at combat. Keep in mind that the game has to be design around that, too.
I have almost 30 hours in this game and this is the first time I have seen a viper.

The moment they implement creating characters, I'll immediately get into the game!
You can dual wield any weapon. Some skills require you to use a dagger tho. The prime build I had last patch was the best parrying dagger and the best sword. You also can use the skills as soon as they're off cooldosn, meaning you can use the first skill right after you shoot

Taking on wolves early game is actually pretty good for experience but you can only take one of them at the same time you need an active skill that will deal damage
22:50 I think instead of xp, you should improve in whatever skill you used. That's how it used to be in Elder Scrolls.
You want to constantly be replenishing your arrows in hand. Don't want to get caught without one when you need it the most. Bows have a natural -50%ish to hit and the aiming ability is very important to actually landing shots since it gives you like +50% to hit.

This game looks very much to Argentum Online, but this one is 1000% better in graphics and also in content. But for those who dont know what argentum is let me tell is far the greatest mmorpg that i played, and i played a lot. In terms of pvp and difficulty it is unique. Also in atmosphere and mysticism. It would be amazing to fuse both the graphincs, story and content of Stoneshard with the pvp and open world and leveling system of Argentum
i'll probly hop back on to see how the update looks. I got this on release because it looks AMAZING but i'm kinda waiting for them to add caravans/camping like they mentioned in blog posts and the roadmap. I highly recommend looking at the roadmap if you have interest in this game.
also, i totally agree with you splatty, i love when games give you little rewards for doing things besides just fighting. This game seems to be taking a lot of cues from the Might and Magic aesthetic/RPG school of thought, and I kinda wish they would add trainers like in M&M6+ where there's barriers in skill tree progression unless you go to a tutor and have them teach you how to be a journeyman or expert or master or something. that was a super underrated and never again replicated feature that i loved from those games.
PS i f*ckin lost it when you couldn't hit the deer with an arrow xD the comedy of that moment was well timed.

Splatter, you can move the camera by pressing the middle mouse button which is extremly usefull when playing a ranged character...
Splat, you can also save at the campsites.
Just noticed there is a free Prologue on Steam.

Hey Splat! Use middle mouse button to move the camera independent of your character, that way you can look around for Goons and Thugs just outside of your screen

Seems the game is on sale at the moment! Now's a good time to grab it if you want to pitch in and support the game, as it has a lot of potential even if what's available at the moment seems a bit limited.
If you luck out some of the quests aren't super hard so you can make it through one right off the bat.
Dude you could dual wield since a long time ago and dualvielding your basic dirk with a looted weapon like that crude falcion is a really decent play as the ranger character.

I thought it was a roguelike but then you loaded your save after you died. This game is easymode.

If i may propose an argument against both general xp gain or crafting, it would be that the dev's clearly wanted a hard game. Its not that you cant design a hard game with thees mechanics. Its just that meany of thees games have op loopholes, just too meany systems intersecting. (Think Skyrim, it can only be hard if you choose to play proper.)

@24:18 shoots almost a full stack of arrows, steps over them in the grass and goes away. brilliant.
@23:55 has 33 arrows and 3 are on the ground.
@24:41 "that's one less arrow than we used to have."
@25:20 has 18 arrows in total, ignores the fact that he used to have 2 stacks of arrows.
(18 were lost; around 14-15 of them simply left on the ground. sigh.)
I find the mage to be the best for beginners. Hit and Run all the way. The melee chars takes so much dmg and psyhe dmg on getting hit

I'm sorry but that one apple you had in the beginning could easily have been moved so you could fit a lot more in your inventory.
Gotta disagree about the EXP thing Splatty. EXP stands for Experience and when used in the context of a system that employs combat, it typically means Combat Experience. Cooking isn't experiencing combat. You can cook 100 rabbits, it's not gonna make you any better at fighting people. It makes sense if you're gaining cooking experience, or if there is a system of "Overall" life experience at play, but in this context I think it doesn't make a lot of sense, since the only thing levelling up provides is combat related.

Maybe it's the poor interface that most of these old school turn based roguelikes in your vids have but i just can't seem to get into the genre. This game however just feels different and i really want to try it(when it's out of early access). Can see it as a roguelike gateway for people. In the mean time, are there any games similar to this? pretty pixel art, polished interface, turn based, grid based roguelike rpg?

Yeah, I was all down for it until I found out there is no temporary save system, I despise games that lock me into a play session for god knows how long until the next opportunity to save. It was an issue in the prologue and I guess it still hasn't been addressed
It is the same art as Graveyard Keeper, yet I can't find any explicit link between the two games.

I loved this game...until I was told after every major update, I have to restart all over again. ..why cant they just retain our saved game for those ppl who wanna use back their old character. and those who wanna start new game can do so too. win win.

I've been trying to figure out how alternate loadouts work in this game. How do you make them? As it stands, I've been needing to manually swap out weapons, which is NOT optimal
Press W or open inventory and click the tiny switch button thats left from the "sort" button in the upper left corner above inventory space.

Honestly, the limited inventory space kinda ruins this game for me, being a hoarder. Probably won't touch it until inventory expanding mods, or at least item stacking are available.
But the rest looks quite promising, just needs lots more content and features.
There's a backpack in the game that you can acquire
@@jakevonatlas2754 How much does it extend inventory space? Because in order to make any crafting system feasible, it needs to be considerably bigger! Otherwise things like crafting or hunting are gonna become a chore with just too little payout for the time and effort.
@@axelhopfinger533 It does not expand, It add more space. A 3x4 if im not wrong. It will take your cape slot tho.
This is not a game for hoarders cause theres no specific place to store it, but for now you can use any container that exist as your hoard.
NPC wont steal your stuff.

Man, I just don't understand the theme of this game. It's HARD it's REAL but you're ALONE. If the world if hard and brutal people will team up, not try to run everything solo. They need to add ally characters.

I just wish the devs put the 'build your own character' at a higher priority. It's going to take like a year before they add it to the game.

Man, watching you I just realized that bow dude is like easy mode at level 1. Almost 50% of arrows hit instead of 10% and you can kill enemies before they get to you. As a melee champ you can not even hunt anymore ...
you died to literally the first enemy, Yeah this game isn't for me.
To be fair, he was kind of winging it. This game is turn-based for a reason: you start it out as some random dude on the bottom of the food chain and are supposed to begin in a very cautious, almost cowardly manner. As you level up, your stats will progress, you'll gain better equipment, you'll gain an understanding of what enemies you can tackle and which you need to avoid still and you'll gain points for skills that will turn previously lethal encounters into much easier fights.
This game can definitely be tough at the start, but the end game makes it worth it - when you become a lean mean killing machine and can just waltz through encounters of several bandits or take on bears like just another Tuesday, lol.
If you know that you'll hate being careful or dying to enemies, this game might really not be for you. But if you can play carefully and avoid charging in or making bad decisions like he has (no shade here, he's playing it in a quick, for fun manner), it can be really really fun.
