"I'm not going to take everything from this chest."
I'm... I'm not familiar with that gamer strategy...
Haha yeah, same. I spend a lot of time playing the Inventory Management Game because my bags are always full of stuff!
I'm scared and confused! What FOUL HERESY is this!?
Yeah... Not taking probably the most important items in the game is astounding decision to make. Especially when you have a lot of free space for it and they take, like, 1x1.
@@lothiaskane2614 That's exactly what I was thinking..
@@lothiaskane2614 Yeah, Splat is entertaining but not very smart.
If you are an adult with any possible interruptions to your playtime at all, I don't think you should buy this game yet.
I had a great time through the starting dungeon. I was ready to make videos of it, the game is awesome. Then I understood the save system: only in villages, after renting a room. You can spend an hour getting to a dungeon, doing your thing, making your way back, and just before you hit that save spot... the power goes out. All progress lost.
The current system is a deal-breaker. It's not about difficulty, save scumming was solved decades ago: save progress every turn.
I don't regret paying for it, though. I loved the gameplay. I'll just let it sit on the steam shelf for a year or two.
Would love to see a small series on this one. It looks great for being so early!
Yes plz on this on
can someone tell me if its the full game? :x Or is it only the prologue for now?
@@vivisiow7214 it's the full game, sort of. after the prologue you can pick one of four pre-made characters and can explore the world and do missions. but there's still a lot of stuff that needs to be added to the game. it's in early access afaik.
Splatty has " smooth talker" perk cranked up to 11! Love how you can talk and be entertaining for half an hr without stopping.
Keep it up!
i would gladly say "shut up and take my money" if the game was ready. according to their roadmap they need at least a year of development before it is ready
but seriously i cant wait cause it has a deep gameplay
It seems pretty good even in the current state. Judging by both videos of Splatty's.
@Arusiek90 There are 4 premades and a locked option for char creation saying not available in beta. So it is, in theory, going to allow you to make your own upon full release.
@Arusiek90 Same. I loved the demo, but I don't want to burn myself out before it's released and I doubt I wouldn't be able to restrain myself from playing it if I bought it right now.
The prologue is much easier than the actual game itself, due to increased frequency of healing items found and also increased exp you gain per enemy. What you managed to do in the prologue does not affect the main game. Still a very fun game but can't go gung ho about things.
The body parts can slowly recover over time but using items will of course speed up that process. Certain herbs might help with the progress as well. Be warned enemies can follow you onto other maps or up/down stairs. I'm not sure if they know how to open doors but it makes the game feel more realistic.
Cursed items have a pro and a con, your peasant cap initially gave extra psionic damage, but you are louder noise wise, which a lot of gear already reduce. Sneaking is not in the game yet but this would attract attention easier, which would be bad for hunting game. Other downsides for curse effects I saw were 5% chance of increasing hunger/thirst per turn (easy to counter) or 5% chance of increasing pain (very annoying). High pain would reduce your stats + fumble, and over 50% will start decreasing your max health points.
Yeah, I spent a lot of the time thinking how dissapointed he will be when he finds he does not get to keep this chatacter or loot. Meanwhile my dwarf is having his butt handed to him in the main game.
@@ostrowulf I'm playing more defensively and intentionally getting more money / clearing dungeons without the quest but still get the reward for handing it in. Better to do so without a time limit. The archer is much easier now I went full take aim, 2 turns of the buff is huge.
@@eirgen4244 Those enemies only follow you if they are within 2 or 3 tiles from you when you change zones. Now if you are melee, this can be used to isolate mobs and not fight multiple enemies at once.
oh boy, i still haven't managed to beat the prologue so maybe i shouldn't waste money on the actual game
@@eirgen4244 After I posted this I went on to easily clear the grain mission. I went into sheilds, got a little better at kiting the enemies outside the door one at a time, and importantly got some good rolls. Also I bought the best available sheild at the outset. I find waiting until the enemy is 3 squares away, upping my sheild, then they move to two sqaures and I charge with my axe. Yes one of two turns of sheild deffense is lost, but often enough I get a good hit with the charge, block, get a decent second hit, then their hopefully hurt and less likely to hit me, especially less likely to hit hard.
This game has been on my wishlist before the prologue existed. Even at early beta this game is fun.
my seven year old son, hearing me watching this, "Did he say a SHARK TOOTH NECKLACE?"
I love how the contract is signed "X". That suggests the contract was written by a scribe and the signing party was illiterate, which would be accurate of a medieval society.
The little things in this game make it that much more awesome. There is so many little things that the Devs have added. I love this game so far... I've never been the type for rouge Likes... I've never really played them but I love seeing them being played
They were more literate than most are now.
Yo, Splats! I backed Stoneshard after your earlier play of the game a *while* back. I played early versions but kinda got distracted with other things, but of course when I got my Steam key a bit ago I jumped back in. Aww yeah! Does not disappoint!
Just watched the vod of you playing this for 3.5h on twitch and had a hella good time!
Don't apologize for covering this game!
Prologue's looking spiffy, but I think the Nerdcastle could definitely stand to see at least 1 episode of what's beyond the tutorial, like the premade characters, how the open world works, etc. Especially for people thinking of supporting the game in its beta state. Nice video though! It's cool to see you handle the game with finesse so that it doesn't hinder your amazing commentary. You had me with that doublet joke XD
This was written in GameMaker Studio. Seriously impressive work.
Pressing "W" (Default) swaps weapon sets, akin to what Diablo2/PoE etc has. Useful for carrying more weapons out of a dungeon or a bow/arrow for ranged engagements before enemy can close gaps.
>Chills to rest in front of a door, out of sight of a warned guard.
Guard: There's nothing strange about all these bodies piled in front of this door.
Hey splatty I've beeneatching your videos for years but this is my first comment on one of your videos however, I really think you should play more rogue like games similar to this - you just seem like you really enjoy it and you enjoying it, I think makes the game play and the video really shine if that makes sense. Anyways tho your an awesome youtuber and a genuinely great dude and really do hope your life takes you in the way to make it the happiest and best life you can have man - thank you for all the videos and years of hard work.
Please keep playing this! I’m weirdly obsessed with watching this game.
This is exactly the kind of RPG I've been looking for. I wishlisted it and will definitely buy once it's a bit more ready for release.
Notification worked. Got here after 1 minute upload
This seems to be yet another pearl. Would love to get to see a bit more if you were up to do a series of this. Love your content, keep up the good work ^^
I remember back when I got my first shark tooth necklace in 5th grade with 4 beaded along the sinew, I wore it with me every where & never let any kid at school hold on to it ever at all lol
Splatty I really appreciate you doing what you do. You are excellent at this and your insight is easily one of my favorites. Carry on!
Another great video... looking at my Steam account I know now whom I have to blame for it being so much larger than one could expect... almost every game I watch here you make look amazing... and I get looped into another purchase. Keep 'em coming.
Loved how you sang Rebelution song :) 10/10 would listen to you sing again!
Hope you play some more of this, I love it!
Can we expect a small series? 😀
Moar, for it is your honor to deliver such baubles of visual entertainment.
This game is incredible! It's like an open world board game with rpg and roguelike elements. I can't wait to see further updates.
Marine World was awesome, I remember going there as a kid. This game has peaked my interest. Please keep up the series.
Hey SplatterCat! No idea if you'll see this but there is a game just released called Void Destroyer 2 which is like a space mount and blade kind of blend! It's pretty fun and maybe worth a check, thanks for reading!
I was playing this when I got the notification
Started watching for the gameplay..... *stayed for the tenderized garlic pork recepies.* XD
Please keep playing this!
Thanks splatt, for all the awesome videos..
This game will suit me fine!
Another fun game? if your viewers start listing the songs you randomly come up during playthroughs. I'll start...
16:47 Rebelution - Feeling Alright (Sweet sweet reggae, so long since I've put their 'Courage to Grow' album on. Thanks Splat ^^)
I can't believe you mentioned Marine world. Remember the giant whale you could crawl through and the crazy rope netting that was high above the ground?
Thanks for the video Splattercat!
based off the reviews sounds like this game has a ways to go before i get it.
...I do recall finding sharktooth necklaces to be pretty cool as a kid.
I love that the treatises have lore in them. Reminds me of Elder Scrolls.
We need the full recipe to the pork shoulder. And a cooking video.
Simple game with seemingly deep and diverse customization for playstyle. I want to play it, but also not a huge fan of early access. Entire graveyard of abandon-ware already out there. Be interested in seeing more of the main story
I'd be careful with this one so far. Played the prologue today weirdly enough without seeing this vid. It was great fun, but with some potentially obnoxious mechanics. Loved it. Went to the game page and there is a looooot of reviews warning about the prologue not being representative of the final game. Ignoring the missing features, many people are mentioning issues such as an obnoxious saving system, iffy rng, boring levelling and skills and a survival system that doesn't fit in the game while only dragging out the experience. From my own experience, I definitely could see the latter being a problem and the levelling wasnt particularly exciting featuring bland incremental number increases. Can also see how levelling would be even more irritating in the full game because you'd not get all your skills handed to you immediately. Wait for a while with this one I think. Sounds like there's much potential, but plenty of work yet to be done.
As I turned on my PC to play somemore Stoneshard, I notice my phone has a notification for Splaty playing Stoneshard. Sure, why not play while having Splat do his own commentary in the back ground. I feel he may be dissapointed when he does not get to keep this character or the loot.
The "Verren" voice actor sounds like Rutger Hauer, RIP.
Be aware, this game changes drastically after the prologue, becomes drastically harder. In the open world, you'll often encounter multiple enemies that will swarm you and beat you viciously. Leveling up become a much more tedious prospect, and decent gear becomes almost painfully expensive. Additionally, the game works off of a save system where you can only save at the inn, and you have to pay for a room and use the bed in order to save. I recommend waiting for the full release.
I am old enough to have played Rouge. I got hold of it after I played Valhalla, I guess we are talking early 90s well before windows 95. So I thought oh good this could be good. There are some games that have a lot of grind to build up well if you really really enjoy the grind then you are in luck that is all this game is. You move through the first dungeon learning and getting on a bit , then you come to the end of your time fro the day and think I will carry on playing tomorrow. How do I save?? seriously How do I save my game? Answer you can not save your games. You will have to restart from the last time the game decided to save.
Bit frustrating but to fight your way through and finish the first dungeon. You have made progress and start to like the character. So now the game takes that character of you and makes you start a new one. There are four characters if you pick one then decide to try another then you have to go back to your first character go through the first boss fight again so you can choose again. From now on you can only save in the towns so after a number of tries and dying you fight to the next dungeon, complete the first level then think that has taken all my time for today so I have to go back to the town to rest and save, Oh look that has reset everything now I have to start that adventure again! If you managed to get some money you might just have one more bit of armor this time round wow.
Marine World was more like Bay Area Sea World. Before they moved it was in Redwood City. They had no rollercoasters.. just animal exhibits and shows. When they moved to Vallejo it was more like Great America/Six Flags. Any ways, cool game.
Also I would like to see you play some more of this game
Reminds me of a lot of the simple games from the 90's for some reason. Pretty cool.
I bought this hours ago. I love it. I have mad graphic errors (probably because my computer is a potato). I haven't beat the first boss yet. I took shield bash and it's not working against him.
Love this game. First time I bought something before watching one of your vids
Really hope they add proper animations. The art is beautiful but the "hopping" etc. of the characters really takes away from it
Comment and like for comments' and likes' sake. Thanks for the entertainment Splatt!
Adding this to wishlist. This looks really good.
Jup although i can tell you as a tip that you should wait for the full Release because of Updates and savecorruption
I hope someone other than Wanderbots does an actual playthrough of this
I don't personally get why people watch him do play-throughs, he whines and complains more than he plays.
@@Drakan21 I didn't notice him "whining", I just think his commentary is kinda boring
Man...I'd get you over to cook me some of that pork shoulder! And the game was pretty good too!! Haha
I see... next project is the Splatter Restaurant Group.
I hope they make it to where your outfits will actually change when you put different armor and stuff on
Edit: I just seen that your outfit does in fact change when you get new armor. For some reason I thought it didn't show up when he put it on
I would love to see more, maybe even a series
Why aren't you using the second weapon menu you can arm the bow at the same time and actively switch between the bow and axe
Urtuk The Desolation. Going to early access on Steam Feb. 14th
It will be probably rogue-like of the year :p
4:34 at first I thought this read "Peasant Leash." I had some really interesting guesses about the game's sense of humor before I went back and checked.
Lol the shark tooth necklace resonates with me.
hey man hows it going? havent been tuning in to your vids for some time. glad im back
This game had a sick prologue
I came for the game and got some great cooking advice, I am not even mad :)
I'm curious what was that "shiny" cuffs at the beginning of the video? 3:26
Same Narrator as darkest D..... love it
Feels like they've been working on this game for 30 years
I really like the game, on the easier side of rougelikes though, but I don't mind. You have a load feature, but since I've never died in the game yet I can't say if they get deleted but I guess they do, since it's a rougelike, if not than it's not really a rougelike. One detail that I criticize many fellow game devs for doing (I've made a few, not an expert by any means) is say that there game is a Beta when it's not, realistically Stoneshard is a Pre-Alpha, because they aren't done implementing features yet, an Alpha is when all core features of the game are mostly complete and testing is being done on them, Beta is when the bug fixing happens, no new features should ever appear in a beta unless it's a game that gets constant updates, even then if planned, core features aren't implemented by this time, something is off to me. But Stoneshard seems very, very promising, I love it so far. And it's a good sign if the only gripe I have it is that they are calling it a Beta, very minor problem when you think about it so good job Stoneshard devs, good job....note that I might still have gripes with it since I've not seen everything the game has to offer
Happy to have this game, enjoying it too.
I had a Sharktooth necklace as a kid.
Will you play more I have to know splat
I tink I gonna try to play this Friday 😌
This game is DOPE. I'm just to the second town, but its great
EDIT: actually super disappointed with you though man, you gave some REALLY bad advice simply because you didn't play through yourself before making the vid. You can't keep anything from the tutorial, so the points go where you need them right then (ie, the skill and stat points, like the fire skill). That's not even your character. Can't in good conscience like the vid if you're giving out false information to people, but the game is still great and I recommend picking it up
Started the game yesterday.
BAM 4 hours gone in an instant. :D
Already dumped 30+ hours into this game... its FUCKING FANTASTIC!
Just bought the game. Not gonna lie, alot of fun. Needs some balancing tho, if you try to fight the first boss with the greatsword you literally can't hit him cuz you'll fumble every hit lol
"...like viking warrior". I was thinking about Russian peasant instead... (the axe was peasant axe)
Id like to see more of this
Ooooh, Splatty done seduced me with his succulent pork-talk!
Please keep playing this
Someone plz help me just got the game, can’t find the village elder after doing the main quest.
Leave the tavern and go down just a little to the shops. Look to the north east and he will be on the 2nd floor of that building. ( man with a grey beard)
The elder is in the house southeast of the inn you start out at. It is a large building with a chicken coop to its right, the main door would be the one where there is a set of stairs leading to a second floor (not interactable)
My recommendation is get familiar with the game and kill some wild life and sell some hides to either the elder or the tailor, you will need to get healing items from the herbalist and then try the first of two missions from the elder. The game can be a bit difficult. Also remember to save at the inn by resting there whenever you manage to make any major achievements or at least don't want to waste your efforts grinding money or exp off random encounters.
reminds me of divinity original sin games.will buy this
orb of regret my friend, orb of regret;)
I bought it. Just now. Thanks.
ok but like how is it gorgeous lol🥵 screen is like 70% black whole time
crzy I was jus in the steam store n Stoneshard is on sale right now, jumped on youtuber wonder if Splattercat has this on his page n here it is lol gj
seems like a really interesting game for once
The game looks great so far
All right! Gib me more.
Makes me want to play Diablo 2. Might check it out.
Any game that incoporates bodypart and sanity systems is a game that interests me. I get bored of just being a block of health. Combat has more weight when you have a body and a mind to consider.
Is the world map big for this game? Plenty to explore?
Plenty to explore, if you can make it past your first pack of wolves. lol
@@Drakan21 Nice, I hope so. Especially if many people bought the game, they can expand the world, and also include crafting and minor building if its not on the game yet, and maybe mount too. Definitely gonna buy this, it is my type of game.
This game reminds me of a fantasy Cataclysm DDA.
Primero. I want to wait for full release, but this looks too good to wait on. I did enjoy the prologue when it first came out.
Fuck yeah. I woulda kept watching it you kept playing
This game is amazing. Thank you for sharing
