I believe the passport was inspired directly from the element but wasnt as offroady I have a honda element man and with a lift kid and alignment it would be the perfect camper/trails car I feel like the new passport followed those characteristics. I like it bc its actually more like a SUV should be like according to their original purpose back when SUV started out

I love how they’re leaning into making the Passport an SUV “that can go off-road” as opposed to a SUV “made for off-road that can do fine on road”. This is perfect for someone like me who is on road 85-90% of the time, and when I’m off-road I’m on a lot of service roads, back roads, roads to camp sites, etc. I can’t wait to get one
It's really more capable than most would ever need. Especially if you're solo, it can be risky doing anything that's too difficult out in a remote area.
Same here. I love back roads and often drive on badly maintained and unpaved roads. Once in a while I have the opportunity to drive through tiny trails, but I tend to be careful not to get me in situations where I might get stuck. I currently drive a 2012 AWD V6 RAV4 with a diferential lock feature. I am curently considering uograding it to the likes of a 2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport or forthcoming 2026 Honda Passport or Passport Elite.
For me it's not "on road/ off road" to me it's dang, some days I wake up and there's 8 inches of snow on the ground. This is gonna do well 100% of the time for the next 6 months. Or as a construction worker, this thing can navigate the job site with ease. So no, I'm not going off roading with it. I'm going through life with it. And this is gonna handle it.
@@larryhouse3776 Exactly. 18 inch wheels is better than 20 inch wheels for daily driving through pot-hole infested roads, and Honda's excellent AWD system is very helpful in deep snow or icy conditions, such as the ones I live in on a day-to-day basis throughout the winter in Quebec City, Quebec Canada. This car seems like the turning point for Honda. It has the stamped hatch like the mid cycle refresh Ridgeline does in the tailgate. I wouldn't be surprised if this design language makes it across the entire Honda lineup in the future. Including their non-suvs.
Land Cruiser is not in my price range. New passport might be. Also Passport can go off road. Land Cruiser is designed for off road. My need lies more on the side of Passport. I would not even want to try rockclimbing. But I love to have a vehicle that will get me through the occasional hard situations, for example, when camping.

It shares many things with Pilot and some with Acura MDX same Engine and transmission. Same interior as Pilot mostly. Same IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD System. The exterior is different. The exterior looks are different.

Well fought for quite a while and ended up settling with Honda corporate for them to cover 75% of the cost. But that was still $1500 for us, a total engine rebuild, and the issue will eventually happen again since it’s a design issue . Also CRV is not V6 so you’re good regardless
Yeah i think Honda nailed this design, i wouldn't say it is a quirky like previous design philosophy yeah but still great. I really do appreciate the simplicity and functionality of the interior . It is a step up in terms of technology for Honda cars but also not make it an entertainment center.

Hate the front end of the current ridge line. This 2026 passport front end on the ridgeline will completely transform the appearance of the latter. That’s the primary reason the ridgeline doesn’t sell more.
I’m glad they went the extra mile with styling, but I would have been way happier had they just shortened the Pilot Trailsport and kept the they fascia’s they already have
I’ve noticed that price for price Honda is far more equipped than Toyota. To get the Tacoma to the same specs as a 42k Ridgeline it’ll end up being a 60k Tacoma. Same with the Highlander specd to the passport. The $46k Passport is as equipped as the $80k Highlander.
My criteria for an SUV has to have a flip up/roll down rear glass. It's so convenient when you don't have a pick up. Only Fords, Jeeps and 4 Runner that I Know.
I'm not a fan of amber drl's. They should be white. Ambers should just be used for turn signals. Plus, this has incandescent rear signals and reverse lights. That's ridiculous that vehicles are still being made (especially at this price) without full led lighting.

I like most of it better than the T4R. The new T4R looks too much like a transformer and the 4 calendar is a let down. It reminds me of the 2000 era Explorer, which had the perfect dimensions.

Selfish wishlist adjustments: Make sunroof optional, remove auto start-stop and VCM, eliminate perforated seats--they don't hold up.
