  • 1 year ago, before I chopped my GQ Patrol; Drew and I went solo through the $1000 in Tasmania in the middle of winter as is tradition.. Well it's winter again so it's time to head back in there! But first, I have some last minute modifications to do to the GQ!

    I absolutely LOVE you rear cab wall setup. Things are looking good back there and giving me ideas when i end up with a rear cab wall (whether by chop or purchase).

      Hey mate thanks for the comment, I don’t plan on changing at all, ever mate, I do work with a couple of brands such as superior and outback equipment and love the fact that they help me out and will continue to accept gear from brands i believe in and/or already use, but this is a hobby, and will remain a hobby, so I have 0 reason to try and push it into a revenue stream which means nothing should ever really change, other than me wanting to improve my craft and get better at editing and what not.

    You have to be prepared mate like when we used to go out to Yalwal to a track called 6stage its similar to the $1000 track but hardcore rock climbing..

    Another awesome video mate , love following your adventures here in NZ, quick question i have old 24v warne winch on my GQ with the older style separate solenoids. I want to change to a sealed one , what are the ones you use mate?
    Thinking I will remote wire to the cab at same time.

      Oh yeah nice, I use the Albright solenoids, either a DC88 if you want to save space or the bigger DC182 👊🏻

      Hey mate I just built it. But it’s kinda annoying flapping about tbh, I only chucked it on to try and slow the hook down when it comes close to being wound in cause the warn high mount, especially on 24 kinda runs away a bit, didn’t want to stress the alloy housing of the winch or twist the bar. 👍🏻

    Do you find/ are you worried with having the car builders on the floor that water will get trapped under it and rust? As always love the content!

      Cheers mate, na tbh I don’t think water would stay under it the tar sticks pretty well to the metal? Out of everywhere that’s rusted in the car over time the floor hasn’t been one of them haha

      Yeah no worries I’d steer clear of porous stuff like carpet and sound deadening acoustic liner type stuff but car builders/dynamat is just butyl rubber with aluminium foil it doesn’t really have the ability to store water or moisture I wouldn’t have thought 👍🏻

    Will be interesting to see how bad the track is now. Jeep track eg., is really bad, took mates 7 hours to get thru it recently and 11 hours for another crew. Tassie tracks are getting sooo cut up!

      Which electrical stuff in particular mate, I’ve just finished the trip so I can let you know 😂
      So far the car is perfect, no electrical issues in the car. However my Milwaukee 18V chainsaw battery charger and drone battery charger are both toast 👍🏻

    curious if its only cost why ya dont run comp tyres of some sort ? too far on road ? or they make no difference in there anyway ? given the choice ide use tsl boggers in there even if i trailered them there good prep though mate love ya work

      Yeah tbh this is my 3rd or 4th set of Razrs they’re just my go to and even this last set I wore out in 12 months cause I do so much driving getting to places to wheel, I can’t imagine treps would last well at all.. and even the razrs were like 550 a tyre or so for 37’s so not so much the price but I reckon they’d just wear super easy being a softer compound and bias
