    I heard that there is a potential for a category 6 to be added to the hurricane scale, for hurricanes with winds greater than 193 mph. (311 km/h, 86 m/s) 2023 to note was an El Niño, and yet was above average from a normal El Niño year, and since there is way less shear, I think this year could be worse. Good forecast! Keep it up Weather Watcher!

      Thank you for your comment Chesham, that is correct! I have heard lots of talk on the internet about that, and it’s part of the reason why I decided to do an early hurricane related video. I don’t think they’re adding the category 6 rating just yet, because I think it will require a long process of approval from different organizations. But it’s probably in the cards within the next decade or two.

    Very imformative video. There are alot of other parameters that are just horrendous, its not impossible for very destructive storms and even hurricanes to hot Europe in 2024. I have been in a hurricane force wind storm Gundrun, cos billions in damage and caused several casualties and in 2024 storm from Norway.
    The north of Europe is going through a big climate change with The UK, Ireland, France Belgium, Netherlands coast Germany, fires in Portugal and Spain and again in France.
    There are other problems that could be a major propblem with the increased volcanic activy in Iceland , possibilties for a major eruptions are high.
    All we can do is follow your videos and try to plan....although im optimistic that we will have a very shot summer in Southern Sweden in June and July ....well hopefully.
    Thanks

    We in the Netherlands live in a relative very quiet corner: not much of any kind of weather and uptill now the experts can handle the water-supply/flood. Even the ns (dutch rail company) manages well the fallen leaves. We are blessed. I do not know why.

    yeah it seem like this season could be hyperactive. After all we have summer SST in february, 26-27° in the gulf of mexico and the caribbean islands and we're soon approching spring so additional cooling will cease soon, so the atlantic waters will be very warm. There's already high anomalies near the main tropical developements regions where the tropical waves come off and this is concerning ( and exciting ) . Now imagine if we get an early and above average moonsoon activity and no dust from the sahara this season will be chaotic.

    A very good view of the situation, I was very curious to hear your thinking, that the Atlantic is already very warm, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic, it promises a very hot season, it is true that hurricanes with warmer waters approached Europe, once the route was known, along the east coast of the USA and the way to Iceland and Britain, now the hurricanes started to turn to the right towards Europe already halfway compared to the previous ones usual routes. It is already known that the cause is the jet stream, which is getting stronger.All the systems that start from West Africa towards the Gulf of Mexico are caught in the western high current and are carried closer to Europe, the Azores and Portugal, these regions will be directly in the future affected by hurricanes but in a milder form than that expressed in America

    What does this information mean temperature-wise? Last summer in northern Europe was pleasantly mild, and I recall that the summer of 2020 was also mild and the 2019/2020 winter was completely non-existent. But I am also aware that this does not apply to the whole continent and we, up there, are just lucky..

    Hurricanes despise being very and extremly devastating are still quite interesting to me. I really do wonder that some 15-20 million years ago when the Meditereanenan was still part of the Thethys ocean if there have been Hurricanes hitting south Europe of that time. I know it is very far past, but i do hope one day someone will write articles about that. As someone did when Europe transitioned from the trade winds dominated climate to the westerlies predominant now which happemed some 6-10 million years ago.

    • @WeatherWatcher14
      @WeatherWatcher14  7 місяців тому +3

      Thanks! La Niña is returning since stronger trade winds are bringing colder water back to the surface. This has a domino effect on the weather in North America and the Atlantic Ocean.

    Funny you should ask... I do have a question. What are your thoughts on adding a 6th category to the Saffir-Simpson scale?

    • @WeatherWatcher14
      @WeatherWatcher14  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello :)
      Great question. I think adding a Category 6 rating is a good idea. Maybe not immediately, but looking ahead to the coming decades, I think it would be good since there seems to be more and more powerful hurricanes. Having a rating for “the worst of the worst” would help highlight the biggest storms so people know how bad it is. My only concern would by other ratings like Category 3 losing significance. If there’s more hurricane ratings, then people may naturally start to push aside hurricanes rated 1-3, and may only pay attention to them is they’re above category 4. It’s a working progress!

      Thank you so much!
      I’ll try to come up with a good answer 😂 I’ve been covering European weather since Autumn of 2023, so I’m basically still relatively new to it… but in just the past few months, I’ve picked up on so many patterns and how weather itself manifests itself over Europe. When I created my winter forecast, I didn’t find information about El Niño’s impact on Europe very easily. Basically, the impact of ENSO on Europe hasn’t been sufficiently researched. One thing that this winter proved to me personally, is that El Niño or La Niña has a bigger effect on Europe than many people think. My theory is that El Niño produced increased storminess across North America… which obviously finds its way all the way to Europe. With the help of favorable pressure patterns, these storms were redirected into the British isles and Scandinavia. Regarding the temperatures, that’s honestly a harder one to figure out. We did have a phenomenon called a Polar Vortex Disruption, which I think led to an extremely cold period.
      If you have any further questions, feel free to ask! Hopefully I didn’t talk too much 😂 Hope this helps!

    Is it out of the ordinary that La Ninia comes this soon? Not being a climate expert, for me the major red flag is the rise of the temperature anomaly in the Atlantic. This can mean more storms can make landfall in America and Europe. I believe major hurricanes have hit Europe in the distant past but very little evidence is present before written accounts existed . However the temperature anomaly seems to be persistent and probably here to stay for many decades. So from my standpoint on Hurricanes in Europe will be the new norm rather than the anomaly. Thanks for the report and explanations always good to listen to down to earth accurate information.

    • @WeatherWatcher14
      @WeatherWatcher14  7 місяців тому +2

      You’re welcome! And I agree with you. Records only go back about 150 years, there’s lots we don’t know. There has been other years when La Niña rapidly re-develops, such as 2017. And of course, widespread warmer than normal sea surface temperatures will spell trouble for other landmasses (like Europe) that don’t typically get tropical cyclones

    • @SuperMAZ007
      @SuperMAZ007 7 місяців тому +1

      @@WeatherWatcher14 Your work is very important and the information is truthful. The weather anomalies have to do with a more larger issue than just man made global warming. The issue is the energy received into earth's atmosphere seems to be unable to discharge out. So might we be into a runaway greenhouse effect? Or we just fundamentally don't understand certain mechanism at all. This sure needs more investigation by people that are not conspiracy wacos. Maybe this is just all normal but we just don't know about it to be extra certain.

    • @WeatherWatcher14
      @WeatherWatcher14  7 місяців тому +2

      I like how you think. I can tell you aren’t close-minded, and you try to understand the “big picture”. I admire that! Like you said, we just don’t understand everything yet… that’s why weather forecasting is still not an exact science. We do what we can with the information at our disposal, but there’s no guarantees. I’ve had sooo much fun learning about weather over the past several years, and especially within the last couple of months, when I started tracking European weather! It’s helped my broaden my coverage beyond the U.S. That really made me realize how connected weather is. I look forward to continue learning and doing what I can to keep people informed. @@SuperMAZ007

      La Niña naturally increases overall severe weather activity, so I predict a few waves of intense storms up in Ohio in the coming Spring and Summer seasons. Be safe and have fun!

      @@WeatherWatcher14 I thought El Niño had something to do with the lack of severe weather last summer, now I know why! Hopefully, La Niña comes to tuition and hopefully the storms come to tuition! Looking forward to spring and summer!
