    The fix you illustrated is in great detail. My dilemma and probably many 2005 jeep GC is the darn actuator . So far i have replaced 3 actuators. They last a month then bam the clicking starts. This last actuator actually messed up the piece you referenced in the beginning. And now i might need to follow your video. But i am wondering if it will be the same and break after a while. And if that is the case im done for. Do you think that the controller might be the issue. Maybe it doesn't let the actuator stop and start when need be. It just lets the actuator do a full 360 hence stripping the gears of the motor. I will probably get a new control board bef ore trying your technique. Thanks and sorry for my rambling.

      If you are breaking actuators I would investigate the dampers inside. Do they move freely? I wouldn’t expect the controller to do this. Make sure all the dampers are in the correct position

      @finishedwithengines , on my last 2 actuators, I noticed that they would do a 720 turn when switching from cold to hot. And when I moved the temp dial incrementally, the dial on the actuator would move slowly one dial point at a time. But if I moved the dial on the controller, say...2 or 3 notches at a time to hot or cold the actuator would do a complete 720 cycle. I thought actuators moved at 180° axis either to the hot or cold. And to answer your question. The dampers were moving beautifully back and forth doing it manually. But yesterday when I removed the actuator for inspection I noticed that the damper wasn't rotating manually any more. And your video pointed it out perfectly. Hopefully I can do the exact fix you did. But I'm wondering if the controller is not sending correct stop and go signals to the actuator. And would like to sort that out before attempting your fix. The dim lights on my controller don't work so that's steering me into changing it even more. But it would be nice to know if the controller deals with the rotation of the actuator.

      @milvolts1 interesting. Well I hope it works out. That could be the control overrunning the max swing of the damper. The whole setup on these jeep is weak

      @finishedwithengines , you got that right. But I must admit for being a 2005 it's not all lost. I tried moving the opposite side with a needle nose and that little nipple broke 😤. So I heated up the end of a flathead screwdriver and Bam it worked. Probably will leave it on hot. Till temp warms up outside. Thanks for the feed back and comments. God bless!

    I have the same jeep. I have no heat or ac, and when i start my jeep it does the clicking noise from the hvac system. Is this the exact fix fo that.

      I would start by pulling that blend door motor off. It’s easy to see if the shaft is broken or if the motor is bad.

    What about duel climate control? Only the passenger side is acting up. Same kit?

    • @finishedwithengines
      @finishedwithengines  Рік тому

      I’m not sure, the dual climate control could have one fan with blend doors, or 2 fans with individual control. Without it in front of me I can say.

      You must have a dual zone system

      @@finishedwithenginesI hope my 07 single zone has the easy knob that just slides off from glove box side 🤞🏽🫣 I ordered the knob from Amazon tonight $9 and I’m opening up my glove box tomorrow n see what’s up my hope is just the knob that’s broken I hope I don’t have to mess w the left side n open the console and rewire electrical wires like u did 😮‍💨

    So I need to understand what is happening with this. My front vents don't blow hardly any air. I hit a bump and it then stopped blowing air. Not sure how in the world that would do that, but it did. I replaced the blower resistor, checked the drivers side actuator and it goes into all modes by the look of things. I removed the drivers side under dash actuator and manually moved the flapper and it will not go to front vents, like it is stuck or broken hinge or something. By the way- It will go into floor and defrost. I have heat control cold and hot that function.
    Are you saying to use the other side passenger side. This could be my issue..??
    By the way, mine doesn"t have dual climate control.
    Thank you.

      It sounds like you have a damper somewhere else that broke, hence changing when you hit a bump. The damper I fixed in the video takes the whole air charge from the blower and directs it to either the ac evaporator or the heater core. After that it hits other dampers that send it to defrost, foot, or dash vents, or some combination of them. I would look at the other dampers and the associated controls. I sold this Jeep so I can’t look in specific detail, but in general all car HVAC systems have this sort of arrangement. Some use motors, some use vacuum controls, and others have a mechanical linkage. I’m fairly confident that this era of Jeep has another motor to control discharge flow someplace under the dash if you look closely
