  • This year to open Brisfest, event organisers put on a spectacular drone show called Nieergoo: Spirit of the Whale, which recounts indigenous legend about the creation of the Moreton Bay Islands. This is the show from beginning to end.

    The show was incredible. We watched the first one straight after the fireworks and the story was incredible. However, I wish it had of been a dark sky backdrop and not the city lights. The show I saw in Darwin was out over the ocean so it didn't have any lights behind it. But the whale at the end was fascinating.

      I kinda liked having the city behind it. It made it more 3-dimensional as there was a layer of something behind it which gave it more depth compared to having just blackness.

      @@BrisbaneChannelI like that. I think it comes down to vantage point. I was up higher and more in front of 1 William street and some of the drones got lost in the building lights. Your vantage point did look better.

    Well! The whale at the end was spectacular. I think for a first effort it was great. And telling an important story like that on the first show is nice. I would like to see more WOW next year. Like...i dont want a lesson, i want entertainment. But I get it.

    Load of political crap!

  • @wooloongabba

    How about we just have an event without making it this political indigenous thing . I am so over it

    • @BrisbaneChannel
      @BrisbaneChannel  Рік тому +3

      Telling an indigenous story is not political. Saying that the original people still see it as the place with a name they gave it before we came along and called it something different is not political. What may be considered political would be something like saying we should revert to the indigenous people's name for it. If that's how you interpreted it, it probably says more about your own politics than anything.

      Might have been enthralling when I was 5 but I'm way past that now.Now I need to survive and feed the family,will the Great Snake in the sky do it for me?How about just being Australian,isn't that enough?@@BrisbaneChannel

      @@peteraskerow The cost of living crisis and a free Brisbane event seem to be completely unrelated.
      I guess you could say that money spent on events like Riverfire could instead be put into things that would have a meaningful social impact, like more social housing which would have an impact on rental prices etc.
      There's no denying it's getting harder and harder just to go about life with the way costs have risen, but for me, that makes events that can take our minds of things for a bit and enjoy without having to pay for them even more valuable.

      I think it's a bit naive thinking we didn't pay for it.Did all the resources and wages come from the Great Snake in the Sky or from the millions of Aussies who contribute to this society? You might say that BHP or ComBank gave donations, but I might say those donations were a tax write-off,which decreased ,or added to the debt needed to run the country.Try and Grope through the Indoctrination fog. @@BrisbaneChannel
