I am currently student teaching and a method that helped me a lot was our flow on my observation days. On my observation days, I watched my mentor teach the lesson in first period, taught second period, then was observed teaching third period. I watched then immitated her flow of the lesson and was able to practice(she stepped in to help when needed) before observed which helped my nerves a bit. We did this order also on days that I wasn't observed which has helped me.
I am starting my student teaching on Monday so I'm super nervous, but your words and energy gave me the push I needed! Thank you, I will be sure to ask a bunch of questions and feel confident in myself during the whole journey🥰
This is super helpful! I’m on my last semester of my undergrad and I’m looking into credential programs.Student teaching really makes me nervous but this helped me have an idea of what is to come and how to make the most of it.
Not only did this video help ease my worries about student teaching, but it convinced me to get this hair cut 🤩 Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Yes being prepared as a student teacher is important and also not being afraid to command the classroom. Yes, all lessons should have a BME. I like student teachers to use the I do, we do, you do method.
I am currently doing student teaching AND it’s VIRTUAL 😭😭😭😭😭. This virtual setting really throws me off . But my master or mentor teacher is great at her job. I’m willing to gain all the experiences and knowledge that I can get .
Thank you for your video! This is my 5th week of student teaching and i like it but today i was being evaluated. So ofcourse i messed up a bit. I felt dumb because i confused my teacher with my confusing lesson. Too much stress, especially in these rona months
Thank you, that was super helpful. I am one of the few students in my program that does not have an undergrad in Education. Mine was in Business as well! So that was great to hear your experience.
It’s really hard and somewhat defeating to watch this and it’s not your fault at all. It’s just that I’m doing my student teaching right now amidst a global pandemic and I can’t do half of the things you suggested which breaks my heart. This year has been so rough but I’m thankful for your advice regardless and will be implementing as many as possible ♥️♥️♥️ thank you!
Soo I know this video is old people may never see this but.. I have 1 semester left until I am a student teacher, right now I am an intern and.. I feel really confident in the social aspect, how to interact with students, other teachers, principal, parents etc but when it comes to actual lesson planning/teaching material I dont feel prepared at all. I feel like none of my classes are really helping me in that aspect and its terrifying! I am hoping that next semester and my future classes will provide more but I have heard of people further in the program feeling underprepared as well and its scaring me haha.. my student teaching is 1 whole year so I'm hoping thats enough to get me ready to actually be a teacher 🤞🏻😢😭
@@KeaLynn I know I feel behind as well! i have one semester away woohoo! But the thought of the lessons in my hands TERRIFIES me! We'll get through together! teachers are the strongest type of human we got it girlie:)
Honestly thank you so much! I have about two and a half months left at my year long Student teaching placement and I am feeling extremely overwhelmed! I feel like I finally have the content down but am still learning how to better manage the class. This was much needed!
Thank you! I am in the middle of my student teaching semester as a graduate certificate teaching candidate and my situation is different than majority of student teachers. I am working at a Teacher Assistant while student teaching. Everyone thinks I am insane for doing this because I have to do TA stuff while also doing what I need to do to meet my student teaching requirements. It is a lot, but I am making it work and after I finish edTPA next week, I can solely focus on teaching and my lesson plans rather than balancing time to work on the edTPA and lesson planning and having a life.
I'm about to go to my field experience, and something that is making overwhelmed is one of the things u said first, learning a new language while doing it. Elementary Education has a lot of phonics, and I'm afraid to be judged just for having an accent. 💔
Valentine’s Day will end the first month of student teaching in a 9th grade world geography and 12th grade Econ class. In my education preparation program we have to do FRI, FRII and finally clinical teaching. Overall, things are going good, I am trying to make economics more engaging.
I will be doing student teaching in 2 years but first i will be doing a field study in undergrad. Thank you so much for this and I look forward to more videos :) you’re doing great!!
So question! Lol teachers in the district I plan on student teaching in.. dress somewhat casual and I almost always see a phone in their back pocket or they use it as a timer. It’s it that during student teaching you are held by a different standard?
As a teacher I use my phone as a timer too!!!! I think you can ask your master teacher what he/she suggests?? My point was just to be mindful of the "phone in hand" situation because if you are at a school when it's frowned upon, then it could look bad. But if your teachers are doing it, then ask or use your best judgement!!! (I would avoid using my phone in any situation during "interview" season)
Maybe I was just unlucky, but I have a master's in Education. I went through student teaching twice, and I might not have ever had a successful year of teaching.
Interesting how a majority of these videos would make one think that to be hired as a new teacher (or the typical student teacher) one would need to be cute and < 30 years old and female.
