When I interviewed for my current job I brought multiple copies of my resume and reference list for my boss and supervisor - they loved it and still tell me today that right away they saw I was prepared. You never know how many people will interview you
Piece of advice, is to change your name on social media. Like perhaps use a nickname or, make your middle name your last name on social media and it makes it harder for people to look you up!
My first day of my first semester of student teaching my ct told me to introduce myself to the kids while she went across the hall to ask her team teacher a question. I have each kid a handshake and introduction. I think it help start our relationship but also let them know I was an authority figure, to some degree. I was so nervous that day but that experience really set the tone for the rest of the semester and helped me out names to face. It helped kick start my confidence so I could fake it til I make it xD Great video :)
I totally agree with teaching every time your mentor teacher asks. My mentor teacher would ask me like a couple hours before or the day before to teach early in my internship and I did it because I needed the practice!
I also went to a lot of events that were held after school. McDonald’s night, musicals, and fun night because I wanted to make it known that I wanted to be a part of the community!
I’m not majoring in teaching but I have been watching your videos for years now! I’m a nursing major & definitely agree with your point on cleaning up social media! This is a good point of many careers. You don’t want revealing pictures/pictures of you at party when you go to interview at a Doctor’s office/hospital. Love you Kim... so glad to see you posted!

If you live in an edTPA state you should start prepping for that as soon as possible and really have the handbook memorized by the time you start student teaching. i didnt do that so my student teaching was made kinda miserable by edTPA, and I didnt get my score until ~2 weeks before student teaching ended.
I work as a teacher assistant in a pre-k classroom (in a elementary school) and I’m also in school to be a teacher. I take pictures of everything!! It’s so important to document your experience. 😊 Great advice

Don't stress about it! It can be as as asking someone what you can do. Eventually you will be able to see what needs to be done and do it! People appreciate the effort.

Great video! I was hoping for your opinion. I am teaching assisting, in Florida we call it field Experience, and I am student teaching in the fall. As just an assistant should i participate in spirit week dress ups even if my CT isnt?
Wanda Smith also in Florida! But I’m doing my second practicum (which for my school is the last step before final internship) in my opinion if your cct is not participating do not dress up unless she approaches the subject to you.
Frank V It means cooperating teacher which is the teacher who volunteered to have you in their classroom. They are the ones that work directly with you during the internship/practicum. It’s their class that you are working with and helping to teach in most cases.
