Perfect timing!! I’m about to start student teaching and I’m sweating buckets already hahah
girl same
me too. this is my 3rd time.
@@divagirl10 Whoa. What happened? This is my first time student teaching
You are my idol. I am 12 and have always wanted to be a teacher. I ‘play’ school all the time on Sunday after your ideas and tips. Thank you so much!
This is so beautiful. Go for it!
Join the club of being a life-long learner! The world could always use more teachers.
ive always wanted to be a teacher i am now applying to colleges! time goes by so fast
Do what is at heart. I also want to be a teacher. Good for you
Same.
Currently student teaching but I’m online. It’s pretty stressful. Trying to find virtual resources and get student engagement is the challenge.
I was in the same boat last fall! It's stressful as ever being online.
How I helped students participate was using name note cards to randomly call on students. That way by the end of class I know what students talked and those who didn't. That's just my food for thought! Best of luck on your journey!
I'm student teaching as well! I love using Pear Deck and Nearpod as interactive virtual presentations. There are lots of awesome interactive presentations to use online which can help a lot!
Content like this is SOO needed. When I started teaching I searched the entire internet and could find very few practical videos/articles that gave me any real insight. THANK YOU for contributing in this way!
Also , Never let a blown lesson plan be the end of the world for you as an educator and a student's
" bad behaviors " at the time doesn't tell you much about them because you are only seeing them as students and your students are only seeing you as their teacher .
If the students don't respond to you well then it probably doesn't work for them whereas if the students do respond well to you then it works and make whatever works part of " the code " in the classroom .
Plus , If your students are talkative , they are probably carrying a lot on their minds .
If you the teacher allow your students to unpack what is on their minds first then you will wind up having less to no distractions because their minds will end up emptied and you will have room to teach something into them .
Hope this further helps anyone seeking to become a teacher .

The tip about being nice and making good impression on everyone is SO TRUE!! I have a naturally outgoing personality so I didn’t do it to get anything in return but I was an aide at an elementary school and my first impressions and daily interactions with people opened so many doors for me. Teachers invited me to come teach lessons in their classes because they knew I was in school, the janitors to lunch ladies always sung my praise, and the principal even told the superintendent about me. They had mentioned so many times they couldn’t wait until I was finished with school so that I could be a teacher! I left because of covid, but when I left they literally all offered letters of recommendation!
What type of aide were you?
I’m student-teaching (on the high-school level) right now and this video is a godsend. Thanks for sharing your tips with us and helping us feel more assured of ourselves. I’ll take every tip into consideration.
I’m currently in my final semester of full time student teaching! I think these tips are great! I’m very lucky to have such great mentor teachers that make it a great experience! We work together planning lessons! I started my student teaching telling her that I want to get as much feedback as possible!
Great advice, definitely would use this tips for the near future! Thank you Michelle! 💞
This is such good info! I’m definitely sharing this video with two friends of mine who are currently in their second week of student teaching (they are in a district that is in person). I love the fact you said two teachers should be “co teaching”. I wish more student teachers heed that tidbit!
I really needed this video last fall but I'm so happy you made it for student teachers this spring!
These are even useful tips for those who have teaching positions! Thank you!
I have been school support staff for the last 7 years, the first 2 as a sub through a company contracted by local districts. The last 5 as a district employee - the first 3 of those as the staff building sub, and last year and this year as a special education paraprofessional. The Fall semester of 2023 I completed my student teaching in 4th grade, which I really enjoyed.
Last week, I verbally accepted my first classroom teaching job for the coming school year 24/25, its in a different district that I have been in so a new adventure awaits, I am so excited to finally have my own classroom. I have watched so many of your videos and checked out your store. Thank so much Michelle - Pocketful of Primary.
Thank you! I will be in the classroom in a year and a half, and I cannot wait!
Beginning my student teaching next week! Thank you Michelle ❤️
Always good to be reminded of those things! I am currently student teaching and tried not to ask too much because I don’t want to annoy people 😅 but getting out of that comfort zone now, because I know it‘s what I have to do! Love from Germany
Thank you for the tips and advices Michelle! 💖
I'm currently learning photography, but when I get to experience the deals of photography later in college. You gave me great advice. Best of luck to all of new teachers that are learning as student teachers for the future.
Some very good advice. It is important to develop your own teaching style. You will be more comfortable with it, and therefore, the children will learn so much better.
Thank you for your advice! It is so true that good first impressions can lead to so much.
These tips are so helpful for student teachers. I agree with all of them. I wish I could have done better with some of them during my student teaching experience, especially the part about co-teaching. One of the best parts of teaching is that every year is a fresh start, so we always have an opportunity to improve! 😊
I am currently student teaching in fourth grade (math, science, and social studies) virtually and it is very interesting, thank you for the advice. When I found out I was in fourth grade teaching math, science, and social studies I immediately thought of Michelle!
Currently student teaching with my kinder babies and I so appreciate this! 💗
I start student teaching in a few weeks so I’m glad you made this video. Thank you!
I’m from Cecil county MD & have been watching you for so long now!! You really helped me solidify my decision to do elementary education :) I’m shadowing my own 5th grade teacher currently ❤️
Bravo! Great advice from a veteran teacher! Learn, learn, learn, save, serve, share & encourage others. :)
yeah these are great tips!!!! love your vids
Thank you for this! This really helped!
Thank you. Your advice was great. ❤
I’m in my 7th year of education and went back to second grade, which I student taught, this year and lost my entire flash drive with 6 months worth of lessons. I regret it so much. Asking questions also is needed now. My strength is math and writing after teaching departmentalized for math and writing, but reading is a whole other game. I finally had to reach out to my instructional coach for help refreshing my reading teaching.
Thanks Michelle! Great advice! I'm going to have a student teacher in the fall. I'll share this still them.
I just got hired as a teachers aid so this is absolutely perfect!! I love your videos and i’ve been following you for about a year and half and i cant wait to have my own class one day!!
Same!
Thank you! I really admire you and this video will help me lots 😊 Greetings from Mexico 🧡
this was so helpful thank you so much!
These are all great tips! I'm hosting my very first early childhood education student and will pass this on to her. :)
Like someone else said, this is such perfect timing. I’m starting to do my student teaching to kindergarten virtually on Monday and I’m so nervous. I’m only a sophomore and I feel like I am too young to start but I guess this is the time lol
I am so excited to start my student teaching in just 5 days!! I will be in second grade. Thank you for the tips!
I start my teacher shadowing next month (hopefully, it’s complicated) and this is so helpful! You were a big part in why I want to become a teacher!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
thats awesome
I love your videos!! They are so helpful. I recently started teaching and these help alot. Fingers crossed!! I wanted to ask you if you could make a video with instructional tips for a class?
I love these! Do you have any tips specifically to help Virtual student teachers?
I could cry how helpful this is 😅
Fantastic tips!
God bless you for making this🙌🏼. I’m in my last semester of student teaching before I graduate 😳
I had an unannounced observation with a person from the ESC because the school I student taught at was a title one school. Some schools might not allow laptop computer’s or phone because the person in charge of the field placement’s said that some schools would complained about students using laptops computers or phone and when I was student teaching I would take notes in a binder. I suggested something for something and the teacher liked that idea and the idea was used.
Greetings from Peru. Your tips are awesome. Ty ❤️
I will be suggesting this video to any future student teachers I mentor or cross paths with. 😊
Hi Michelle. I love your videos! I've learned a lot from you. I would love to see a video on making instructional videos with an ipad. I want to be able to write on the slides. I use the Notability app during class and want to record some videos with it to attach to assignments for my kiddos. Thanks for all yo u do.
I'm about to start a practicum placement so was looking for tips from a real life teacher (before I head into the classroom next week). Not in my student teaching semester yet but still found this helpful.
Congrats on another great video! Here is kind of a random question: What screen recorder do you use?
Going on my 3 month teaching practice on Monday 🤩🤩 wish me luck, if you want.
Hello Michelle can you do a day in your life and watch you teach virtually please.
Hello Mrs.Ferre or Mrs.Emersion. Congrasts on your marige! From Javi. :)
Thanks so much for all your great videos. I was wondering if you can do a video for substitute teaching. I have seen a lot of negative attitudes toward subs online. I am just starting out and want to well by both the teachers and students. What tips would you reccomend for new subs and how can we be better prepared the students? Thanks.
I JUST posted my own video with Tips and Advice for Student Teachers! Here are some more ideas to add to your list! Advice #8-> I wish I knew that you have to have thick skin when dealing with parents. Advice #9--> In my first classroom I taught in, I cement walls and NOTHING would stick. The teachers in that building taught me to use a hot glue gun! It does amazing on cement!
Hello, thanks for the tips.
I am about to start student teaching this coming September, but we are going to do it online due to the pandemic. :
Hello i am from🇮🇩 indonesia..
I Love this video😊
Is there going to be lots of videos this year and also every year ?
SOOOO hard.
Worried about epta, rica, induction, getting a job, and evaluations from CT and US.
I applied for a teaching course through high school that will lead to college. I’m VERY nervous on if I get accepted or not. If it’s possible could you do a video on what schools might look for in teachers?
I have a question about baby wipes would they be really useful or would Clorox be a better quality

In the state I’m in, we had the opportunity to get paid while we student teach a few years back. I was already in my late 20s so I went that route. Come to find out, I had my own classroom and never had a mentor. I hit the ground running but I wouldn’t do it any other way!
WOW! I would almost rather do that. I don't know how I will manage for a year without pay... My school asks us to not work while we do our student teaching, since its Monday-Friday, all day.
@@kayleethompson3212 I was facing that option as well! We were told not to work but I didn’t depend on anyone financially. I was very concerned. Luckily, I had this opportunity in time to student teach. I believe only one other person did that program with me! Everyone else went the traditional way.
Hi! Coincidentally I’ve actually been offered an opportunity like this today and I’ve been on the fence about accepting it! I’m nervous about not having a mentor 😅
@@Ninabean-kj7lm I’m not going to lie to you, but it was very difficult. Luckily, I had two neighbor teachers who were my rock for the whole year and I asked a million questions. I feel like I learned so much more because I learned from my own mistakes and I truly felt I had a realistic understanding of what it means to run your own classroom. Plus, you get paid teacher salary + benefits.
I have 3 friends who ended up going to the same school I worked at and I have 1 year of teaching experience more than them, and I make more than them now because of it. I wouldn’t do it any other way!
Isnt she the actress in Who Am I film?
Virtual teaching right now online. Oh, I am also student teaching after being hired to teach ELA as an emergency hire😱
Hi Michelle,
What camera do you use to film videos?
My mentor teacher refused to let me observe her classes and only observed me twice: two consecutive days in early November. It sucked.
Ahh, i have my teaching internship last year. I hope i watch this a lot earlier
Vaientine's Day😍😍😍😘😘😘💝💝💝🍫🍫🍫🍰🍰🍰💟💟💟🎈🎈🎈🌷🌷🌷💍💍💍
What if they aren't giving you feedback and they say you ask too many questions.
Thank you so much for these videos. I'm taking notes for next year when I'm student teaching. I do have some questions about my learning experience now. Would you mind if I sent you a message?
My honest and useful tip. Don’t go into teaching. Student teaching don’t provide the full picture of the mess of the school system. It’s only the tip of the iceberg of the ridiculous mess the school system is in. And about to get worse. Not enough teachers, there’s a reason why.
