  • Free software: www.inkscape.org, Adobe Illustrator alternative. Ever wondered how to:
    Edit scientific figures using Inkscape?
    Edit R plots in Inkscape?
    Edit Matlab plots in Inkscape?
In this video, you will learn how to edit composite plots for your data figure. Composite plots may come in different flavors. Here we use a boxplot overlaid with dot plot, We begin by making such a plot using R (www.r-project.org) and then importing and editing in Inkscape.

Thanks for the video. I have a question about the line plots - when I try to load line plots (in pdf, eps or svg) generated by matlab into inkscape, the lines will be segments (if I ungroup the figure). This makes editing of individual lines difficult (in particular there are overlapping lines), I have to manually combine the segments into lines, is there a good way to do this? In Adobe Illustrator, these lines can be separate from each other (even when they are overlapping) and at the same time easy to be access as a complete line instead of segments. Thanks!

Hey Yang, can you send me a sample document under this comment? Use any link like www.transfernow.com and up a link. I will verify what is happening with your graph.
