    The Fender Custom Shop 57 Twin Amp brings back the wonders of the infamous 5E8A circuit. The incredible dynamic response and purity of tone of the 5E8A circuit are meticulously recreated in this Tweed Twin. The Tweed Twin is all hand wired point-to-point with high-quality components and Mercury Magnetics transformers. This 40-watt Twin is powered by USA made Groove Tubes 6l6GE power tubes and rectified by two 5U4s bringing back the late 50s Fender dual rectifier design. This reduces sag for a tighter overdrive tone when pushed. Add all this up and the Fender Custom Shop 57 Twin produces sweet chimey top end with lots of sparkle and a focused overdrive sound with tons of harmonic overtones and incredible dynamic response. The Fender Custom Shop 57 Twin has unbeatable dynamic response and tonality. Forget the rest, go with the best and check out Andy's demo of the Fender Tweed Twin.

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll - This video was recorded loudly. Andy was wearing earplugs, as a matter of fact. With this kind of amp you really have to turn it up to get a righteous, tube-saturation sound. You may check out the series of attenuators offered by Weber and other companies. A good attenuator can allow you to get power tube saturation at much more manageable levels. Hope that helps. Thanks!

    I bought this amp last year, play a Strat and a Les Paul. It is absolutely amazing. I play alot of Clapton, Hendrix, Black Keys, Black Crowes, even Tame Impala. I will never sell this amp. EVER. I would like to buy a Marshall 1974x or a deluxe to compliment it though, this sucker is pretty loud!

    I love your Comment so much! But For all those wondering, Clapton used a Vox AC30 on everything before The BluesBreakers then a Marshall Super Lead with Cream, and continued to use it...but he used some Fender Blackface amps and experimented in general for a while(...then the heroin addiction during the seventies...) and on his return he used various amps, but in the 90's he used Soldano, and now-a-days he always has the amp in this video on stage =) YOUR WELCOME

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll hi, I have a Fender Bassman and, even though the solution is a bit of a disgrace (putting digital in front of valves) and maybe defeats the whole purpose of owning a Tweed, it is the most cost-effective solution I have found in order to get a decent crunch at acceptable volumes. I tried using a BOSS Bassman pedal in front of it and the result is pretty nice after fiddling a bit with it. I know it isn't the best way, but works, even live. Hope this helps!

    @OttoVonBaggins
    In the past, his stage guitars(stratocasters) featured a 25db active Mid-boost and TBX tone control. The mid-boost drives the amp to get what you've describes as "super sustain." The TBX tone control allowed for even brighter, bitting tone due to the two level potentiometer which when set at 5 is equivalent to 10 on a regular tone control.
    Recently, he has removed the TBX tone control but the 25db Mid-boost is till there.

    fender should incorporate more tube powered rectifiers into their amps. the tube rectifier makes a big difference in my opinion. of course some fender sound fine with SS rectifier thats already in em. but imagine how much better the hot rod deluxe would sound if it a 5U4 rectifier!

    sounds like you need a 5e3 or another 12-15 watt amp.
    Small amps are where it's at,you really need to work the power section to get those nice tonal dynamics,pushing the speaker helps too.
    ...you can always mic them for bigger gigs.

    @lllULTIMATEMASTERlll A simple way would be to turn your input volume up very high for the preamp tube distortion. If you don't get that much, you'll need a pedal or something (like a blues driver)

    @Beermaker2000 Because of musical trends. The overdriven sound wasn't really popular or musical sounding 'til then. The Stones & Yardbirds were (I think) the first to go down that road. The Who were close behind. Hendrix as well but he came slightly later. I'm probably missing a lot of others. Prior to that. music producers wanted a very squeaky clean sound (Beach Boys, Elvis, Early Beatles). The groups that followed paved the way for sounds like this.

    In response to your comment of 7 months ago. You recommend the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III to some other who made comment. Personally, I avoid the Fender Hot Rod Amplifiers. With its circuit board and overall inexpensive construction it's an amp that I find sounds muddy and cannot be depended on. The amp can break down at an time and has done so on me several times. Because of the cheap circuit board, getting them repaired is a nightmare and near impossible. Amp techs try and avoid repairing them.

    Hi Andy. You don't mention the specific pickups in the Strat or the Tele. And we're assuming you're playing straight through. Correct? Would you be ever so kind and reveal the pickup set and/or hotness of the pickups in each guitar, so that we may make a judgement on how the pickups affect the sound thru the amp. Thanx so much!

  • @voodoovibes007
    @voodoovibes007 12 років тому

    it's very easy to overdrive the tubes of the 57 twin at low volumes. Just get yourself a Clapton strat use the mid-boost knob on it and the amp sings like no other. This is just like Clapton himself does it. But the 57 Twin now has become the Fender EC Twinolux, which has a Power Attenuator, so a normal Strat without Midboost can overdrive it at low volumes. Cool, isn't it. Well, you should have 5000 $ for the EC Strat and the Twinolux, but who doesn't have 5000 left for the best guitartone ever

    While a tweed Twin sounds awesome, not everybody needs 40 watts of tube power into 2 12" speakers. Crank that one up to where it's giving you a little breakup, and you may be too loud for some clubs! (On the other hand, if you've got an out-of-control drummer, it may be just what you need. :) )
