Yes, they changed it from only needing a flathead screwdriver to now needing a D-shaped driver to adjust the idle air fuel screw (presumably to make it harder to DIY).
Thanks for this video and the removal, just bought a 2003 and it needs a tune up bad. Will only run with the choke on. Cleaning the carb and changing fluids/valve adjust.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports yes I will, having a problem with fuel running out the overflow. Am going to check the new float valve and see what the problem is. Hopefully just some dirt i missed.
Excellent video. I have a 2006 Honda Rubicon trx 500. Is this the factory carb? I have been putting off the rebuild but your video makes it look straight forward. I am the original owner 1200 miles on it. Also the black priming push bulb with spring is sticking it is not working properly. I rarely had to use that. But it needs some kind of attention.
Just cleaned mine today. Did I hear you say I should be able to see light through the length of the pilot jet? I can't when I insert a needle down it, it hits something hard and unyielding. The engine will start only after multiple pumps on the primer and/or starting fluid sprayed at the air intake. It will only run for a few seconds.
Yes, you should see through the pilot jet. If you can't you are running it lean on start up and idle. It's a very small hole so you might not be able to get a needle through it. I will sometimes use a very small strand of wire out of a cable or just hit up your local dealership and they'll sell you a new pilot jet for a couple bucks. Thanks for watching. If you could hit the subscribe button for hundreds more videos on the Honda ATV, that would be great.
Great video, I wish I would have found it before I bought a new carburetor. Working on troubleshooting my new carburetor leaking gas. One question, does the choke cable need to have a specific setting.
Great video. I just did my exact rubicon. Do you have a video on repairing the front brakes? I think it’s my master cylinder. I have to pump the lever to get pressure. It will hold pressure after I pump it a few times but next time I have to pump it up again. Also have to fix rear drum as it sticks. I’ve done that on my last two Honda 400’s.
Early on I changed the front brakes to disc in my ‘01 Rubicon, best mod I did. The rear drum can be a constant adjust or repair piece, especially if you are in the mud a lot. Good luck diagnosing and fixing the front brake issues.
pulled the carb when i pulled the engine 2008 foreman 500, now it has a crazy high idle, when i push the plunger in it idles down but only for a second, any ideas?
I bought an 2005 foreman rubicon 500 that had the carb replaced, the bike iddles but when i hit the throttle it dies, I think it has to be something with the carb, the exhaust glows red, i was told it is a vacuum leak, running lean.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports i was able to take the carb off and clean the main jet thanks to your video and it runs like a beast again! i left it sitting to long and the crap fuel they sell nowadays gummed it up.
Quick question, does the black diaphragm sit just above the shelf inside the carburetor? Or is it supposed to rest on it? I believe mine is sitting a little high but im not sure if its normal or not, if you need me to describe it better I'll try but any help would be appreciated
Hands down the best informational carb videos I’ve ever seen PROPER 👍👍

Thanks for this. My 500 was running like shit after a rebuild and found I didn’t put a rubber plug in. Now runs mint. 👌🏻

I don't if there's anyone else with a video like this you're the best I've seen on UA-cam and anywhere thank you so much
First class video. For someone not familiar with these quads this was an absolute godsend
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks!
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports Thing I noticed on mine is the air screw is an odd half moon shaped thing. I assume there's a special tool for this?

Hi which video shows how to re-seal the overflow tube, thanks
Good video. Thx for explaining things and showing the air moving the parts inside.

Super DANKE..... Ďakujem
What a Rebuild kit did you use? Where can I get?
Yes great Video, thanks
The end of my main jet did not come out what do I do

A yellow screen, the shape of the flathead screwdriver tip fell out from somewhere. Are you familiar with that?
Fuel supply line port.
Is there a fuel filter somewhere
Did you ever find out, I have the same question
In the tank
What intake saiz?
What happens if it still won't start? Cleaned Carb and tank now. Just burns fuel in the bowl. Nothing more.
Can I send you my carb on an 04 rubicon?
Isn’t it easier to just buck up and buy a new one?
